I am so excited about being able to participate in my very first quilting bee! It's such a wonderful group...I truly feel honored to be able to take part! And we have the absolute cutest button and blog design by Shari! Even though I'm brand-new to this...I got to go first!
I cut into my
Fun Fabrics
Lori said I could share a couple of pictures of one of the quilts I recently made for her...actually, I've made 2 quilts for her in the past couple of weeks. The one pictured above was sort of a joint effort between Lori and I--she did the applique' blocks and all of the cutting for the quilt, and I

Sewing with Strawberry Fields
We just returned home last evening from another weekend in California...this time in San Diego. It's hard to believe I've been to California twice in the last two weeks; it was beautiful there, but it's so good to be home. I cleaned up my sewing room before leaving, so I can't wait
Oh My Stars
During spring break I was able to make a gorgeous quilt using the new Minick & Simpson fabric, Independence Trail. My friend Gail quilted it for me super fast, and I was able to send it off in the mail on Monday.
The quilt was designed by Jocelyn at Fat Quarter Shop and was so much fun to
Wednesday Worktable
I just did the quilting and binding on this fun little quilt yesterday. I'm not sure what to call it...it's bigger than a potholder and a "mug rug" but not really a mini-quillt. Anyway, I sure do love it! Right now it's sitting on my kitchen counter, and I think it's found a home there!
The
Spring Break Sewing
Over spring break I'm happy to have had a lot of sewing time. I worked on a few "secret" projects but also had a chance to work on some works in progress for myself. First, I needed to get caught up on my Blogger's Block of the Month. Allison posted the block for March--a fun churn dash
A Springtime Summer Day
I heart this Summer Day Schnibbles quilt...I almost wish I had made it bigger except that I have the perfect spot for this when it's quilted and bound!
This quilt was made completely from scraps, too. I know it took a little longer for the cutting because of that, but it was so much
Works in Progress
Spring break has been wonderful...beautiful weather and lots of time to sew! I finished two projects early in the week and decided Wednesday was going to be a work in progress day! I'm not quite finished with the binding on the baby quilt I showed a sneek peek of the other day...but

Getaway…
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary last weekend with a family getaway. Our youngest son had an event to attend in southern California, so we took the opportunity to visit some of our favorite places on the same trip!
Of course we had to visit Newport Beach...and do all the "beachy

Worktable Wednesday and Elephants
First, the elephants...aren't they so adorable? I love them but just can't figure out what to do with them. There have literally been some elephants in my life lately, too...well...those "big project" kind of elephants, anyway. I'm really looking forward to a relaxing spring break next

Have you seen the new Flea Market Fancy yet? Now that my fat quarter bundle of the re-release of this amazing fabric is here...don't know if I can cut into it...it's so gorgeous! No, really...I think I'm cutting into it very soon. First I'm going to cut a couple 2 1/2''

More Farmer’s Wife Blocks
I had fun putting together 3 more Farmer's Wife blocks this weekend! I had drafted 6 blocks last week--for me, doing the math ahead of time ensures I'll make at least a few. I hope to make 3 more this week!
First up is block 60, Noon & Light. This was a fun block to
Work-in-Progress and a Distraction…
I've been working on a work-in-progress! I stitched up these California Girl half-square triangles a few weeks ago...
Using a double-layered freezer paper template I've been slowly turning these squares into fun pie shaped pieces! Sorry for the slightly blurry photo above. I trim my
Planning
I'm going to work on my Farmer's Wife blocks Saturday, so I thought a little preparation and planning might be in order today. I'm using all Fig Tree fabrics for this quilt and really want to make sure I have a good mix of the brighter lines and the more "fallish" colors. This morning I went through
Saturday Sewing
My Saturday sewing hours were limited, so I was determined to make the most of the time available. I don't have any deadlines for projects right now, so I was kind of at a loss as to what to sew. Has that ever happened to you--one day you have a "mile-long" list, and then when you have a

Sponsored Giveaway–Superior Threads
I've been using my Superior Masterpiece Bobbins for a few years now. I have to say, this handy donut full of bobbins is one of my favorite quilting notions. I use the threads on these bobbins primarily for applique, but I also use them for stitching bindings. This handy little item has saved
Granny Squares & Blogger’s Block of the Month
I could hardly wait to make another granny square block--I was just going to do a blue/grey combination and at the last minute added in the organge...love this mix of color! I already have a plan for block 4, too!
Saturday was Amy's day for Jackie's Blogger's Block of the Month. I love
Sewing Just for Fun
This bundle of California Girl has been calling my name...and since I'm waiting for some fabric to arrive for a couple of projects with quick deadlines, I decided to sew just for fun yesterday...

Recently Mary from Country Threads contacted me and asked if I would be interested in participating in a blog hop for her latest book, Back to Charm School: More Fun Quilts from Country Threads (That Patchwork Place). Of course I said
Just a Matter of Time…
Really...it was just a matter of time. My heart has been set on making a scrap quilt using the "Granny Squares" tutorial from Blue Elephant Stitches since the first time I saw the block. But I thought I'd hold out for awhile since I have so many works in progress. It seems like
Sonoma Rose
I've been a fan of Jennfer Chiaverini's quilt novels for quite some time...so I was really excited to get an opportunity to preview her latest Elm Creek Quilts Novel, Sonoma Rose (Elm Creek Quilts).
While I love all of the books in the Elm Creek Quilts series, the ones set in different historical
Organizing, Sewing, and a Giveaway!
I was hoping to get a lot of sewing accomplished the other day. But I decided to do a little cleaning and organizing in the sewing room first, and you know how that can sometimes go. One thing led to another, and pretty soon I was moving furniture and organizing things in a closet and 3 rooms. The
Blocks from the Farm
I got a chance to work on my Farmer's Wife blocks the other day--I always have so much fun putting them together!
This was a fun one...Block 62...Old Windmill.
Block 61, Northern Lights was an easy one!
And here is block 56, Maple Leaf.
I'm still making my Christmas version
Rejuvenated…
I returned home late Saturday from an amazing quilt retreat held at the historic Ruby's Inn in Bryce Canyon, Utah. The retreat lasted from Wednesday until Saturday and was home to over 250 amazing quilters for a few days! It was so much fun to meet quilters from all over the country and to be
