Just a couple of weeks ago I posted here about my "Scrappy Trip Along" blocks (tutorial for the blocks here). As I mentioned earlier, the Scrappy Trip Along craze sort of started on Instagram where I resisted as long as I could. After making the first four blocks, however, I knew I'd be making a
Sorting & Studio Tour
Well hello! I thought I'd kick off the weekend with a little studio tour! I'd also like to share a few of my thoughts on fabric and saving and sorting. Taking everything out and bringing it back in has been quite the process; I've done a lot of thinking about which fabrics I need and love (and

Whew...things are crazy here at A Quilting Life...but...I think I'm moving back into my sewing room today! Painting and installing laminate flooring has taken up much of my time over the past week or so. There are just a few touch ups to be made, and then my days of sewing in the living room will
Another Row…And More!
I finally got around to finishing up the latest row in Lori's row along! Her "stars" row is just adorable...I had so much fun picking my twinkling stars fabrics!
The only problem with finishing a row early (I actually made this last week) is that you then have a really long time to wait for the

Year In Review
2012...still can't believe it's gone and that we are nearly half-way through January!
I've been meaning to do a year in review post for a couple of weeks now. Looking back through the picture files on my computer, I was amazed at all of the Farmer's Wife block photos...that really
What Was I Thinking?
For a few years now I've been thinking of painting my sewing room...yes, years, I know...terrible. But the reason I couldn't start was that I couldn't decide on a color. Because I wanted the perfect color. And so finally I decided to shamelessly copy Camille and use the paint she used for her sewing
Fireworks
Just a couple of weeks before Christmas I was able to do some fun sewing for my friend Camille...
I was so excited to sew with the fabrics from her upcoming line, Happy Go Lucky! And I had so much fun making this new pattern. The blue floral in the photo above might be one of my favorite prints
Beginnings
It's been a wonderful start to the new year. We were able to spend a few days over the New Year's holiday relaxing with family at their beautiful mountain home. While I didn't do a lot of sewing while there, I did make some plans...
Some of those plans involve cleaning and organizing the sewing
A Few Morsels for the New Year
Welcome to today's Schnibbles parade which has some wonderful pincushion eye candy! In fact, I want to copy every one of these terrific pincushions...how many pincushions is too many for a girl to have? All pincushions pictured were made using Carrie's Little Bites Morsel

Finishing up Works in Progress!
I've been working through some works in progress this week! I have a ton of new things I want and need to start, so I thought I'd take this last week of the year and try to finish up a few things. This first project has been on-going for well over a year. I originally made a 16-block quilt and then
Deciding…
I hope you had a Merry Christmas and are enjoying this holiday season with your family and friends!
With the new year just around the corner, now is the perfect time to get organized and set your sewing and quilting goals! For some fun ideas on this topic, read my post over here at the
Merry
It's been non-stop sewing around here...and there is still so much to do! I have at least come to accept the fact that at some point tonight I'm just going to have to put all of the sewing away. First, though, I need to get my Vintage Modern "Sugar Dish" quilt bound since it's a Christmas
What I’m Working on Wednesday
I guess I should have titled this post "What I finished Tuesday Night!" But since it's after noon on Wednesday, the Wednesday title seemed appropriate!
This is the last big quilt I'll finish before Christmas--it might even be my last quilt top finish before the end of the year; I have a lot of
One Week and Counting!
There is still so much to be finished in the next week...and yet I started a new quilt today!
It's always fun to sew with Vintage Modern. I'm using the pattern "Sugar Dish" by Allison of Cluck Cluck Sew. I'm altering the pattern a bit, though; I made 63 blocks and will add a 5" border to make a
Friday Things on a Saturday Morning
I've been doing a little finishing. Of course, every time I finish something I think of something else I could start and finish before Christmas, so the list is not getting any shorter. I finally finished up the binding on my casserole mats. The larger one is perfect to set a 9 x 13 casserole on,
12-12-12
Happy 12-12-12! I've been sewing some mittens...trying to get caught up on a few things before the Christmas rush really settles in!
These mittens are from Lori's Row Along; they are fun to make and best of all involve no paper piecing!
I loved making each pair!
I'm still missing my leaf
Yesterday’s Play
Yesterday I got to spend a lot of time sewing--it was wonderful! I finished up two projects and even got them dropped them off at my local quilter's!
First, I finished my Vintage Holiday quilt; I decided to go with the red border. The blue looked good, but in comparison to the red
Weekend Sewing
First I have to say thank you for all of the wonderful comments and suggestions on my "Decisions" post! The blue fabric is arriving today, so I'll make a decision and share the finished quilt top asap! Also, I got to sew this weekend! I started and finished a Sew Cherry table runner using this
Decisions…
It seems to be all about Christmas sewing here lately...I've been making potholders of various shapes and sizes, table runners, pin cushions and zip bags. I can share most of those things as I finish them since the people I'm gifting them to won't know which is coming their way!
I have
Sew Red for Women
Welcome to my stop for the Sew Red for Women Block of the Month! I was honored to be asked to share a block for this group! This block of the month has been going since the beginning of the year (my block is block 11), and there are some wonderful blocks! I think you'll want to make them all if
Tuesday Tidbits
As much as I love to start Christmas sewing early, I have realized that I really do enjoy sewing with Christmas fabrics in December! The other day I sewed these strip sets from my Cherry Christmas leftovers. I hope they will become a table runner and a few potholders in the near future!
I also
Schnibble Parade Prize Winners
I'm just popping in to announce the winners from yesterday's Parade of Schnibbles...thanks so much to everyone for participating!
Kim from Sinta's parade and Mary from my parade will both be receiving these wonderful bundles of Marmalade from Carrie! Congratulations to both of
Happy December!
Happy, happy December! I always love December 1st...it's kind of been my "marked on the calendar" day for decorating for several years, and I hope to be able to get some accomplished today! Since it's December 1st, it is, of course, Schnibbles day, and we have two wonderful parades. But first, I'd
Bee Blocks and Paper Piecing
I'd fallen a little behind with my Bee blocks and decided I just wasn't going to start Christmas gifts until I caught up. First I made April's block (from October). I absolutely love this block (you can find the tutorial at Six White Horses here). Now I need to let you know I'm not a big fan of
Moda Bella Solids
I love Moda Bella solids...Moda Bella Bleached White 9900-97 is my "go to" background...I buy it by the bolt, and let me tell you, I start getting a little nervous when it starts to get low!
I also love Moda Bella Snow for all of my Fig Tree sewing...it works with every collection Joanna has
Back to Sewing!
Yesterday I got back in the sewing room after a Thanksgiving break. I need to start some serious gift sewing...but first I wanted to finish up the last-minute project I started last week. First up is the last block I made...I think it's my favorite! There is just something about those
Wonderful…
Thanksgiving weekend was wonderful! We had all of our children home, had 8 house-guests, and also had almost every member of our extended family on my husband's side at our home for the big dinner.
We ate, laughed, talked, reminisced, went to the movies, and even took a couple of good walks.
Just a Whim
Happy Wednesday! I've been slowly but steadily working on my hexagon stocking and have all but the last row attached. And while I should probably be limiting my sewing time right now...
For some reason I decided to start a new quilt. On a whim. Last night. When I should have been cleaning
End of an Era
A lot has been going on this week (cleaning, mostly, in anticipation of Thanksgiving which will soon bring 7 house guests and about 25 for dinner); however, I have managed to sneak in a little sewing which I will be sharing soon. But first, I hope you'll entertain a little digression. I
What I’m Working on Wednesday
Just checking in...I can't believe next week is Thanksgiving! And I can't believe 20+ people will be having dinner here that day! There is so much to do over the next few days! So I'm trying to sew even just a little every day to keep my sanity!
I'm hoping to finish up this hexie-pieced Christmas
Quilts from Festival
On my last day at International Quilt Market I was able to spend a couple of hours looking at the Quilt Festival quilts. I was really excited to be able to view a show of this kind--I don't think I'd ever seen so many amazing quilts in one place. Carrie had mentioned to me that during market was an
Finish it Up Friday
I've been following Amanda's Finish it Up Friday's posts and thought today would be a good day to join in! First I finished up my "Make it Do" pillow that I started over a year ago!
The stitchery is a Sarah Jane pattern and has actually been finished for quite awhile. I waited to finish up
Hello Wednesday!
I finished row 5 of the Bee In My Bonnet Row Along...Lori had a fast and easy method for making these cute little flying geese that finish at 1" x 2".
And now I have 5 happy rows. Lori just posted the cutest teacups today for row 6, so I'll be making those this week for sure!
My Stems
Test post
Just seeing if I really can post from my phone...and I had to add a picture...my row 5 of Lori's row along!
