Another little quilt…and Winners!
I have to share one of my favorite little quilts made with the wonderful Fig Tree line, Patisserie. No, it's not a "Schnibble," but it is from a pattern by Carrie called"Opening Day." I had to make this miniature version last spring (actually this option is shown on the back cover of the pattern). I

It's February first (can you believe it?)...and here is the February Schnibble--"Sunday Best!"I made mine out of Verna (by Kate Spain for Moda) and absolutely love it! You might notice I made a scrappy binding...the yardage is available now but wasn't when I was finishing my quilt...but I kind of

What I’m Working on Wednesday
I've been enjoying the rain...yay!!! After such a long dry spell here we are being blessed with rain, and more is on the way. I've been sewing and took advantage of some sun this morning to take a few pictures. I'm working on my A La Mode (pattern by Camille) pinwheel stars...love this pattern!
Piece O’ Cake
I just attended a wonderful lecture and trunk show at Quiltique given by Becky Goldsmith of Piece O' Cake Designs. I have several Piece O' Cake books and have been working on applique' over the past year so that I'll be able to start one of their projects soon. I took lots of pictures and several
Hope Valley Quilt
Hope Valley by Denyse Schmidt for Free Spirit...I fell in love with this fabric after reading this preview...At first I was only going to pick up a few fat quarters. They were amazing, so I got a few more. After that I ordered the rest. And then I started trying to figure out what to make first.
Happy
Pinwheels make me happy... all 42 pinwheels for "a la mode" by Camille are now complete. This involved making 168 half-square triangles. I recently had a couple of questions about half square triangles so thought I would answer them here. I love the "quick quarter" tool which comes in two sizes. I

Quilter’s Journal 2009
I've loved reading the wonderful end of the year/beginning of the year posts that have been showing up in recent days. It's been fun to see a re-cap of projects and ideas that have inspired me throughout the year. Keeping a journal of my projects was my primary purpose in creating this blog, so I

Tradition
A few of our Christmas traditions always seem to fall into place...like me sewing on Christmas Eve to finish last minute gifts (here is the link to the redwork for the snowman)... And then...I always start a fun, new project. This years project was a super fun pattern--Piece of Cake by Camille. I
Still Busy Sewing…
I've been busy sewing...but as soon as I think I'm catching up...I think of more things I need to do. I'm starting to feel like whatever I finish...I finish...and that will have to be good enough. I did applique' my two Dresdens and even added borders to make two pillows. I'm hoping to keep one and
Deeeaaar Santa…
(All Pictures from Fat Quarter Shop)Did you hear....the wonderful folks over at the Fat Quarter Shop have an "in" with Santa...he's going to be reading the Jolly Jabber Blog! Word has it that Santa will be granting a few wishes that show up over there! I have to say, it's been a while since I've
Dresden Dilemma
I thought it would be fun to make some Dresdens with some of my Christmas stash fabrics. At first I was going to make the Dresden Plate Table Runner by Kim over at the Moda Bake Shop. So, I used 3 3/4" dresdens with a three-inch center just as her pattern calls for. But then I saw this really cute
Been Binding!
I have so many projects to finish before Christmas...but it's just been so cozy to sit and bind quilts in the evenings now that cooler weather has arrived. I've finished the binding (all red bindings) on these three quilts since Friday. I know I've shared my Cameos quilts before...but they weren't

Seeing Red
I've been thinking about "red" a lot lately. First there was this post by Nicole that got me thinking about red shoes. Then, I kept hearing about a red scalloped cake plate at Target (from Elizabeth, Pam, Camille, and Pat just to name a few). Luckily I was able to pick one up after visiting only one
Table Topper Tutorial
Well, I've been busy this week with pattern testing and bindings...but I did want to share the instructions for this fun table topper with you. I didn't take enough pictures while I was making the Verna topper, so I made another using my Martinique squares. I actually constructed the topper a
Verna, Mail, and Other Things
I heart these fabrics...all 40 of them! I don't have a favorite yet--don't know if I will ever be able to choose just one--they're all wonderful! I had to use them right away, and I wanted to use all 40 squares in the same project. So I designed this fun little table topper (tutorial coming soon)!
“Love” this bag…
I finally had a chance to finish my little project with the Amy Butler "Love" fabrics I picked up. Well, actually a couple of projects...but they go together. This is the front of my new bag along with a smaller bag to go inside. I used every print in the collection--and doubled up on a few of my
This and That
A rare occasion today...a picture of food on my blog! I'm not a wonderful cook, so you won't see this often...but yesterday my kids wanted homemade pizza for dinner...and I could not find my pizza dough recipe...anywhere! Luckily, I had just finished reading The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Recipes from an
Whew!
Finally...although I don't know why...I'm feeling like things have slowed down a little...never mind that Christmas is on the way and I'm behind on all my projects...for whatever reason things seem a little slower this week. What was it about September and October? They seemed so rushed! Just this

Best Laid Plans
Really, I wasn't going to make this until next year...really. I have a plan of projects for the next couple of months that didn't include any new Christmas quilts for me.But the fabrics all came from my stash, with most of them purchased last January at 75% off. So since it wasn't costing
Sometimes You Know…
Sometimes you know that a project is going to turn out so cute that you might as well just make two to begin with...that's the way it was when I set out to make a couple of friendship bags from Simple Abundance using the tutorial by Rachel of PS I Quilt. After making the bags I decided one would be
Market Sewing
This is just a corner of the Fig Tree & Company booth at International Quilt Market in Houston this weekend. For me...the booth photos I was most anxious to see were the ones from this booth since I was able to work on a few things for Joanna this summer and fall. This is the first quilt-top I

How I Spent my Weekend…or in other words…”Cameos” and Half-Square Triangles
I finished my "Cameos" quilt top using Mill House Inn Friday evening! I love this pattern and had been wanting to make this for myself since sewing the Whimsy version for Joanna. This quilt pattern doesn't just call to me...it sings. I already have plans for another one using fabric in my stash.
Three Piles Down…
Three piles down...well, actually four...but the two piles on the left were for the same project. Anyway...I'm getting things done, and some of them are even for Christmas. Progress on the Christmas list in October is always a good thing! First I finished my "Garden Path" quilt from the new Lori
Blogger’s Quilt Festival…and More!
I had so much fun with the Blogger's Quilt Festival (hosted by Amy over at Park City Girl) last spring that it was a definite for this fall. Today I've decided to share my very first sampler quilt made in 2004. I'd been quilting for a few years before getting the courage to sign up for this block
Mill House Inn
How many quilts is too many from one line of fabric? I don't typically make more than one quilt using a fabric line, but this fall I seem to be sewing with two lines in nearly every project I make. I have five projects going with Bonnie and Camille's Simple Abundance, and I've been sewing a lot
