What happens when you get a good group of quilt bloggers together with lots of the their quilty projects…a whole day of fun! This is the whole group…from left to right Paula, Michelle, Rae Ann, Glenna, Dawn, Me, Nanette, Nedra, and Lori. We had sew much fun! Most of us took a class from Lori on applique’ and worked on one of her newest designs…mine is almost finished…I’ll show it next time!
Clockwise from top left–Paula, Nanette (Freda’s Hive), and Michelle (Paula and Michelle are Nanette’s sisters–she’s trying to convert them to quilting); Nedra(Cactus Needle Quilts) and Rae Ann (Cutie Pinwheel and Stash Manicure); Dawn (Piece and Love) and Glenna (Hollyhock Quilts); Lori (Bee in my Bonnet), Rae Ann, and Nedra—notice the cameras…they were out all day! Rae Ann was so much fun…it was my first time meeting her, and you couldn’t meet a nicer person!
Lori shared with us her wonderful applique’ block carrier. She covered a mailing tube with cute fabrics and then lays out the blocks, rolls them up, and ties with a ribbon. The inside of the tube can be used to store the applique layouts…such a great idea!
Everything Lori had was cute…on the left are her Fig Tree basket blocks she’s working on…and on the right is her sewing box…the cutest one I’ve ever seen!
And these are some of Lori’s earliest applique’ blocks…a Barbara Brackman design, I believe.
These blocks out of American Jane fabrics were what Glenna was working on…it was great that Glenna was in town and Nanette arranged for her to meet with us. We all had fun asking her about feedsacks, her fabric, and her designs…she was a delight to talk to and had a wealth of information to share.
