Wednesday Things
It had been about 3 weeks since I worked on my #scrappytripalong quilt (#scrappytripalong is the hashtag being used for this project on Instagram--if you're on Instagram my user name is sherrimcconnell). About a week ago I sewed the remainder of my scrappy trip strips together, and last night I

What I’m Working On Wednesday
I don't have any new blocks to share for my Scrappy Trip Around the World quilt, but I did finish sewing all the strip sets together for the remaining 24 blocks. This was actually a good thing to do, since it keeps me from changing my mind and cutting more strips from my stash.
The amazing thing
Monday Things and a Rod Pocket Tutorial
It was a happy Monday today when this sugar cookie bouquet arrived to say "Congratulations" from C&T publishing (thank you so much everyone at C&T)! I have to be honest and let you know that 2 of the cookies are already gone...and they were delicious!
I've been sewing and taking some photos
What I’m Working On…Still!
To say things have been a little crazy for me the first six weeks of 2013 might be a little bit of an understatement. Happily, though, I crossed a major project off my to do list the other day, and I'm looking forward to lots of relaxed sewing in the near future.
I haven't made much progress
While I Was Out…
While I was away at Ruby's Inn last week a much-anticipated arrival was delivered to my home. I knew A Quilting Life: Creating a Handmade Home

It was wonderful to

So...it's probably no surprise what I'm working on today...
I sewed 8 strip sets together on Monday, and today I'll be making Scrappy Trip Around the World Blocks.
I love every block, but these two strip sets are definitely my favorite out of this batch! After I stitch these up, I'll have
Vintage Cottages
Lori's house row was not really on the list yesterday...
But as always, I found out that you can't make just one...
So before I knew it...
I had made all 5 houses.
As usual, I used scraps from my Bonnie & Camille fabrics. I've used every line but their first so far, I'm going

I finished blocks 9 -12 of my Scrappy Trip Around the World the other day. Now I need to gather more strips, fast.
Of course I had to look at all 12 together. I can't even describe how much I love this quilt. It's just so scrappy and so much fun! I can't wait to finish it, but at

The Scrappy Trip Along
Just a couple of weeks ago I posted here about my "Scrappy Trip Along" blocks (tutorial for the blocks here). As I mentioned earlier, the Scrappy Trip Along craze sort of started on Instagram where I resisted as long as I could. After making the first four blocks, however, I knew I'd be making a

Well hello! I thought I'd kick off the weekend with a little studio tour! I'd also like to share a few of my thoughts on fabric and saving and sorting. Taking everything out and bringing it back in has been quite the process; I've done a lot of thinking about which fabrics I need and love (and

Year In Review
2012...still can't believe it's gone and that we are nearly half-way through January!
I've been meaning to do a year in review post for a couple of weeks now. Looking back through the picture files on my computer, I was amazed at all of the Farmer's Wife block photos...that really
What Was I Thinking?
For a few years now I've been thinking of painting my sewing room...yes, years, I know...terrible. But the reason I couldn't start was that I couldn't decide on a color. Because I wanted the perfect color. And so finally I decided to shamelessly copy Camille and use the paint she used for her sewing
Fireworks
Just a couple of weeks before Christmas I was able to do some fun sewing for my friend Camille...
I was so excited to sew with the fabrics from her upcoming line, Happy Go Lucky! And I had so much fun making this new pattern. The blue floral in the photo above might be one of my favorite prints

It's been a wonderful start to the new year. We were able to spend a few days over the New Year's holiday relaxing with family at their beautiful mountain home. While I didn't do a lot of sewing while there, I did make some plans...
Some of those plans involve cleaning and organizing the sewing

Finishing up Works in Progress!
I've been working through some works in progress this week! I have a ton of new things I want and need to start, so I thought I'd take this last week of the year and try to finish up a few things. This first project has been on-going for well over a year. I originally made a 16-block quilt and then

Merry
It's been non-stop sewing around here...and there is still so much to do! I have at least come to accept the fact that at some point tonight I'm just going to have to put all of the sewing away. First, though, I need to get my Vintage Modern "Sugar Dish" quilt bound since it's a Christmas
What I’m Working on Wednesday
I guess I should have titled this post "What I finished Tuesday Night!" But since it's after noon on Wednesday, the Wednesday title seemed appropriate!
This is the last big quilt I'll finish before Christmas--it might even be my last quilt top finish before the end of the year; I have a lot of
One Week and Counting!
There is still so much to be finished in the next week...and yet I started a new quilt today!
It's always fun to sew with Vintage Modern. I'm using the pattern "Sugar Dish" by Allison of Cluck Cluck Sew. I'm altering the pattern a bit, though; I made 63 blocks and will add a 5" border to make a
