Recently I was asked by my friends at Fat Quarter Shop to review the new Makin’ it Cute Petal Pack templates by Barb & Mary of Me & My Sister Designs. Since I had seen these adorable templates at market in Pittsburgh I gladly said yes! After playing with my template pack this weekend I must say I am a fan!
The template package comes with 3 different sizes of flower templates (I didn’t use the largest size in my sample), a leaf template, and a center circle template. The templates are made from a heavy plastic and are re-useable. I used a Frixion pen to trace around the templates onto my fabric ( this was the perfect pen to use since any remaining ink will iron away when you’re finished with your project). It was a fun way to use some of my fabric and batting scraps…
I’m going to use my flower to embellish a basket I’m making for my sewing room, but you could use these adorable flowers for headbands, bags, pillows and more. They are also great to use for paper-crafting, and there are separate instructions on the packaging for that.
I used Aurifil 12 weight thread to attach my button as the finishing touch…it’s enough thicker than regular thread to give a fun look…and you don’t need as many stitches to securely attach the button.
The folks at Fat Quarter Shop are giving away 20 Makin’ it Cute Petal Packs today…be sure to enter on the Jolly Jabber blog for a chance to win.
