Hello, and Happy Saturday! I’ll be back next week with more Quilt Market Recap, but today I wanted to let you know about a fantastic quilt along coming up! I’m super excited to have been asked by my friend Jane to participate in this quilt along featuring her beautiful nested churn dash block. I followed along on Instagram as she put it together, wanting to make my own version from the very beginning! All of the information about the quilt-a-long from Jane is included below.
Who is ready for a quilt-a-long of the Nested Churn Dash? Starting 1st June 2014, I will be taking you through the steps to make a 24″ x 24″ nested churn dash block.
Joining me will be 10 of my favourite quilters who will be making their blocks into a mini quilt.
For the more adventurous, you can continue on and using the 24″ x 24″ finished block you can make a pillow or mini quilt or make a quilt, ranging in size from 28″ x 80″ (1 x 3 block bed runner), 54″ x 54″ (2 x 2 block setting), 80″ x 80″ (3 x 3 block setting) and 106″ x 106″ (4 x 4 block setting). I will provide instructions for each setting.

Just got my pattern, what a bargain for $2 🙂

Sounds need to check out the pattern. Question for you Sherri, I took your Shine class in St George at Quilted Works. Have not been able to work on it since the class, and I do not remember how to sew the star prints to the background and the contrast background. If you have time next week to refresh my memory that would be great.

This looks and sounds like fun. I've just bought my pattern and can't wait for June 1 to roll around.

I'm in! Now I need to decide whether to use Vintage Modern scraps or French General scraps. Wait — I can make two! 🙂

Downloaded my pattern and looking forward to making some blocks. I think I will use leftover fabric from the Designer BOM 2013 (Avalon)and make a couple of pillow shams to match.

So, so, sew, sew cute. Plus, I know how to sew a churn dash. Count me in! I'm going to need to use fabrics I have in my stash, but I'm sure that is ok, right? Otherwise, the budget won't be so happy. I would, but the budget, not so much.
