Just a couple of weeks ago I posted here about my “Scrappy Trip Along” blocks (tutorial for the blocks here). As I mentioned earlier, the Scrappy Trip Along craze sort of started on Instagram where I resisted as long as I could. After making the first four blocks, however, I knew I’d be making a whole quilt. After all, who doesn’t want to make a good-sized quilt entirely from their scraps/stash?! After getting my sewing room back in order, the first thing I did was make a few more blocks.
This time I cut all the strips for 4 blocks at once, and sewed them all at once…and…well…it went pretty fast! If I make 36 blocks I’ll have a 72″ x 72″ quilt.
Every time you make a few blocks, you’ll want to look at them all together…here are blocks 5 – 8.
And here are blocks 1-8. Yes, I’m definitely going to make 36! I heart this quilt already. (In fact, I already have strips ready to sew for the next 4 blocks)!
I decided to get caught up on Bee Blocks before the Scrappy Trip Along quilt takes over…here is Trish’s January block which was so much fun to make!
Thanks so very much for stopping by! I’ve got something fun to let you know about this week…can’t wait to share my plans! Have a great day!

I too could not resist the scrappy Trip Along and I am loving it. I have 9 blocks done and am also going to do 36. I needed to reduce the stash and this works great for that.

I love the scrappy trip along. I love every version of it I've seen so far. And you're right, you do want to lay out all the blocks and stare at them. I was going to cap mine at 30, but I keep seeing fabrics in my stash that haven't seen the light in years and I cut a few more strips….
Cindy says
Great block to get bust through the stash! I'm using granny square blocks to do the same thing.

I'll have to read more about the Scrappy you're doing. I'm really liking yours.

You big tease! Love your scrappy trip along and wondering how much planning you are putting into each block. I'm cautious on starting one thinking it will look like garbage unless I do some planning.

I feel myself getting ready to cave! very pretty blocks. I like the white in them too.

I should not even be looking at this, because I totally love your scrappy trip around blocks and now I want to make one. None of my scraps really go together, however. My tastes are so diverse, I have civil wars mixed in with pretty brights. LOL.

Hi Sherri, I just finished making 36 blocks for my scrappy trip around the world quilt and they look really good. I can't wait to sew them altogether. Your blocks are lovely, You are so lucky to have some Happy Go Lucky in your quilt.

Love it!! I knew I couldn't resist joining in on the Scrappy Trip Along. It's just going to take me a bit longer to get mine done. I've decided that I should be cutting a 2.5" strip out of every piece of favorite as I buy it because now I feel compelled to cut strips out of everything that I own. That will be a lot of pressing and cutting. lol. I'm going to try to make at least one block a day and then maybe by the end of a month I'll have close to 30 blocks done.

That quilt is going to be awesome! Love that block!
