For a couple of reasons I've decided to play along with the weekly stash report hosted by Judy. First, I really want to know how much I'm buying and how much I'm using. I thought about starting mid-way last year but decided to wait for 2011. I also want to play along to sort of
Happy 2011!
The first day of 2011...it's been pretty quiet around here--a lot of relaxing and a little sewing (hoping to tackle e-mails later on this evening). I procrastinated starting my "Mon Ami" quilt (December was so busy!)--but have really been enjoying working on it today ("Mon Ami," a Schnibbles pattern
New Beginnings
Almost 2011...a new beginning...and I have lots of projects in mind! I set some goals this week--beginning by looking at my inspiration board. There are lots of hexagons and dresdens on the wall...so I know I'll be making more of those in 2011. I loved making the "zig zags" for
A Tradition
I can't believe there are just a few days left in 2010...this year seemed to have sped by faster than any I can remember. I actually love the last week of the year when I can take some time to think about not only the year past but also goals for the year ahead. I always seem to

Still Busy
It's such a busy season...I have so much to do, so many places to be, and lists still to be made (just to make sure I don't forget anything)! Sometimes in the midst of all the "busy"ness we just need to slow down and think. Ponder. Reflect. Even sew something not on the list.
Weekend Sewing
One Mixed Bag to Quilt (sized down), 2 Little Glam Bags, 3 Snap Happy bags, and 1 On Pins and Needles pincushion! I have one more gift to make this morning that has to be mailed today (along with everything in the photo)...be back soon with my final Simple Gifts post!
Happy Sewing!
2010 Collages
It's always fun to look back over a year's worth of sewing and remember projects started and finished. Making these collages was a lot of fun--it not only helped me to remember the year's work but also helped me set goals for 2011. (I still have a few projects that haven't

And Then There Were Two!
I finished up another stocking using this great pattern. I'm really happy with it...plus it went together so much faster than my hexagon version (don't get me wrong...I loved paper piecing the hexagons...but it did take some time)! I'm out of the white on white background fabric from
“Merry”
When Camille came out with her latest pattern featuring four of the most adorable Christmas stockings I'd ever seen I immediately ordered the PDF version. Of course I had to make the hexagon stocking first--and I had to use 12 Days of Christmas!
I fussy cut some of the hexagons--notice the words
Fabric Love…
I have loved fabric for as long as I can remember. I still remember visiting Cloth World with my Mom when I was a kid--it was never enough to just look at the fabric--I also had to feel it! Years later, when I worked there as a teenager I spent hours refolding fabrics to make the shop
Simple Gifts Part 4
Every day I've been working on gifts...I just love it! I think it's just part of the season for me to spend the first half of December making things for family and friends. These hexagons are part of a project I started over the weekend...I'll be sharing it soon!
One handmade gift I
Weekend Plans…and Winners!
This post should have been written yesterday...but I didn't get to sit down at my computer until this evening. Not only has this week been a whirlwind...but I also have so much on the list for the weekend--wonder if I'll get any sleep?!!! I have more Christmas gifts to finish (and
Happy December…and a Parade!
Not What I Should be Working On!
There are so many things I should be doing--I have more Christmas presents to make, more cleaning to do, and lots more decorating to finish, but I just had to set my "Sugar Twist" blocks together (Pattern by Margot of The Pattern Basket). Now to decide on a border!
And I just
Simple Gifts Part 3 and…
One of my favorite gifts to give is a holiday table runner. A couple of years ago I made over a dozen from this pattern to give as gifts. I didn't keep a Christmas one for myself and have been planning to make one using The 12 Days of Christmas since I first saw this fabric.
I
Time to Decorate!
I love Thanksgiving...it's one of my favorite holidays--but starting the day after, it's time to get out the Christmas quilts. Christmas quilts are some of my favorites, and I always try to make one or two new ones each year. Someday I hope to be able to give a Christmas quilt to every
More Sewing With 12 Days
I just couldn't wait to make block 6 of FatQuarterShop's Designer Mystery Block of the Month. This months block was designed by Me and My Sister Designs. Every single block has been wonderful--this is going to be one fun quilt!
I've also been working on next week's simple gift
Simple Gifts–Part 2
Some of my favorite simple gifts to give are small pillows. To see a couple of the pillows I made last Christmas go here. This year I have plans to make a few fun pillows using 12 Days of Christmas. I thought you might like a tutorial on how to make this pillow...so here goes!

This and That
While working with my scrappy blocks last week for this post I realized some of my newer scraps hadn't yet been included in any of my blocks...so my first project this week was to make a few more blocks. It's great to now have some Verna, Central Park, Meadowsweet, Katie Jump Rope,
Simple Gifts–Part 1
Can you believe it's the middle of November? This year has just flown by for me, so it's definitely time to get going on gift making. I love to give homemade Christmas gifts and thought it might be fun to post each Monday about my simple gift ideas for this year--so six
I Heart Patchwork–and Patchwork Books
(I'm posting over at Stash Manicure today, too! That post and this one begin the same, but both posts also have unique features).
I heart scraps. You might have seen some of these on my blog before, but it's been a long, long time (over a year)! I've been collecting 2 1/2" squares for a
Sewing with the Pips!
Do you recognize these fabrics?
If you read Aneela Hoey's blog, Comfort Stitching you will definitely recognize these fabrics as part of her new line, Sherbet Pips, for Moda--available this spring!
I had a lot of fun sewing the sample for the Winter Sherbet Quilt Kit for
Market Sewing Part 2
Just a couple of weeks ago I shared a sneak peek of this quilt here. The fabrics are from Central Park, Kate Spain's line for Moda which will be available in January. The colors are amazing--perfect yellows, oranges, greens, purples and blues mixed with great florals and patterns, and
Fall Market Sewing Part 1
First...thanks so much to everyone who completed a Paganini quilt top for our parade; to see the list of winners and prizes, go here.
I was able to do some sewing for International Quilt Market this fall and would like to share some of the projects I've had to keep "under wraps" for
Paganini and…
Announcing "Butterchurn" by Sherri Falls of This & That; this is the Le Petite pattern for November. This is really a fun little quilt to make. It takes 68 charm squares. (I actually used a single light and so needed fewer charms--I chose to make mine scrappy using prints from
Blogger’s Quilt Festival Entry
It's International Quilt Market time, and that means Blogger's Quilt Festival time too! Amy does a magnificent job putting on this great festival of quilts and their stories.
This time around I decided to enter a quilt I just finished today! This is my American Jane quilt made
It’s the Little Things…
After working on so many big projects this month...I was ready to sew some small items. On Saturday I sewed these "boxy" bags I've been meaning to sew up for awhile; and, yes, I used my scraps to make them (fabrics Fresh Cottons and Bliss)!
Because of all of the talk about scraps these days
What a Week!
My Fall 2010 market sewing is officially finished--for the second time! Well, let me explain. Monday morning I shipped off my final market project (or so I thought); later that afternoon I received an e-mail...could I make one more quilt and have it back by Friday?! The quilt was one I'd made
Sneak Peek…
Just a sneak peek of a quilt I'll soon be able to share...This amazing fabric is "Central Park" by Kate Spain for Moda. The fabric will debut next week at International Quilt Market. And...just a little hint...there might just be a giveaway going on right now over here!
Got Scraps?!
Have you seen the great "Sew Scraps Along" posts by Jodi over at Pleasant Home? Jodi has great ideas for organizing, storing, and most importantly using your scraps! I'm looking forward to all of Jodi's posts because, well, you know, I definitely have scraps!
I have new scraps (can't wait to
The Great Cover-Up
Ironing--something I love to do if it involves quilting fabric--ironing clothes, not so much! But today I recovered my ironing board in some fabric that might just make me look forward to all ironing--well maybe, maybe not.
The fabric is sew now! sew wow! by Alexander Henry, and
Granny Squares
I finally had a few minutes to make my first "Granny Squares" block (pattern by Lissa Alexander)--I'm using Maison de Garance by French General for Moda and will be adding in some Rouenneries as well. I love this pattern--love working with the 1 1/2" strips, and love the fact that if
One Flower Wednesday…
So many things on my "to do" list this week--and the next--and the next-- and so on. But the simplicity of one single project--the ease of a "one-flower Wednesday--" seems to have given me just what I needed to prioritize, slow down, and enjoy creating. My favorite quote this week is
Year of Schnibbles Winners
It's hard to do this post...it's been so much fun! But I hope you'll join in for Le Petite...a year of small projects! I've received a few e-mails with questions about the new club. Our first project is the "Schnibbles" quilt Paganini...it's a fun quilt that looks great in a
Weekend Sewing and Reading
This weekend I've been sewing with Breakfast at Tiffany's...one of my favorite Fig Tree lines. I just love the blues and browns in this line...and the colors just say "fall is here" to me!
This is Joanna's pattern "Vanilla & Blooms," the "Vanilla Cakes" version--I've been wanting to try
A Year of Schnibbles…
It seems like just the other day "A Year of Schnibbles" was just an idea Sinta and I were tossing back and forth through emails. We thought it would be a lot of fun since Schnibbles are fun to make and perfect for decorating. I've had a lot of fun participating myself...here's my own year in
