Last Friday was kind of a busy, stressful day. Nothing major happened, but when you only get 3 hours of sleep (don’t know why I couldn’t sleep)…anything is bound to cause stress. So I told my older daughter who is home on summer break that I thought some sewing would make me feel better. Off I went to my sewing room to use my little scraps of Mill House Inn to make a Tuffets pincushion (a Schnibbles pattern by Carrie). I had so much fun making this pincushion…I think I need to make more. And the terrific thing about this pattern is that it really does use just small scraps…scraps so small you might not even think of saving them…so don’t throw any fabric you love away if you’re going to make this pattern! I used crushed walnut shells for the filling (thanks Nanette)! And let me tell you, once you stuff a pincushion with crushed walnut shells you’ll never want to use anything else (the best place to buy crushed walnut shells is in the bird section of a pet food store)! Saturday was kind of busy and stressful too…so of course my daughter suggested I go make another pincushion…unfortunately, I haven’t had time yet…but maybe today!
Oh, and here is my Gobble Gobble that I’ve been playing with. I’ve wanted some fun Thanksgiving placemats for a couple of years…and I’m finally getting to them!

Your quilt is AMAZING. I have never made anything that complex; but I am working on a double wedding ring now (that has been in progress for about 7 years!) I'm determined to finish it now though. It was originally for my daughter's wedding; her 6th anniversary is coming in Sept and I would LOVE to give it to them. Thanks for sharing your work!

I have made two of the pincushions with others in the wings – and I fully agree with the stress relief. Plus it is just fun to see them around the house in my sewing spots. Kudos on your quilt… it is a lovely piece of art.

Aren't those pincushions the greatest? I made similar ones for the ladies in my stitching group and they were just thrilled.

The pin cushion is something I would like for my collection. Looks easy enough.
I don't know if I still have the book of Pam Bono's with that quilt design. The number of pieces would be overwhelming to cut all at once and try to keep track of!

I love your pincushion…very beautiful! I have a question about the walnut shells…do you make an inner lining for them or just pour them in before the last stitches on the pincushion edge. I bought some for a friend to use and don't really know what to tell her about the actual filling. Thanks for the tip about where to buy them.

Hmmmm… from pin cushion to Pin Your Cares On the Tuffet?

In browsing through your blog, I totally recognized the Pam Bono Pieces of Baltimore quilt. I have NOT seen once since I took it as a BOM class. Lotsa pieces!!?? You bet…All my blocks are made but I was so frustrated with it, I had to set it aside. I know it will be spectacular when I finally finish it. I never thought to count the pieces. But now I know!!
