Hello, friends! Today I’m sharing the Half Square Triangle Scrap Quilt Blocks 18 + 19 with my block photos and the PDF download link for the block layouts. I actually just finished up my final block over the weekend and am trying to decide on my setting. We just have a few more weeks to go with this scrappy project. And I’ve already thought of a new scrap quilt to start after this one is complete.
Half Square Triangle Scrap Quilt Blocks 18 + 19
Block 18 + 19 Details
Block 18 is completely scrappy. I mixed low-volume backgrounds and tone on tone backgrounds with prints in a variety of colors. But for block 19 I had a lot of fun creating the illusion of flying geese units by using prints from the same color family. You could also make block 19 completely scrappy if you wanted.
How to Sew Along
Sewing along is simple! I won’t be sharing any more videos until my quilt is finished up, but I’ll be sharing the block designs here weekly on Fridays. Find two new blocks per week each Friday until the final set of blocks are shared on Friday, June 20th! The block layout patterns are free and can be downloaded here each week, and the full pattern with block and quilt construction details and two different layout options is available in my shop. Tips for Half Square Triangles
- Make half-square triangles my favorite way by sizing up and trimming to your desired size.
- Use half-square triangle paper in your preferred size to make several identical half square triangles at a time.
- Use project left-overs as I’ve done in sewing triangles together from other projects and then trim as needed.
Next Week’s Blocks
Be sure to stop by next Friday for the block layouts for blocks 20 and 21! Thanks so much for sewing along–
Happy quilting!

I’m really enjoying this. Somehow it’s easier to get through my scraps a little at a time as part of a quilt along. I can never seem to get motivated to just find a pattern and a the whole quilt so this is much better. Really excited to hear you plan to do another scrap quilt after this one!
