Hello, friends! Today I’m sharing the Saturday Seven 340: Lifestyle & More for Quilters with lots of inspiration for your weekend and the week ahead. It’s going to be a fairly busy weekend for me as I’m giving some fun business presentations next week and need to finalize all of my preparations. In addition, sample yardage from our next (yet-to-be-shared) collection arrived in Dallas and will be arriving here shortly. I’ll be busy sewing with it soon!
Keep reading for this week’s round-up of inspiration and lifestyle ideas!
Saturday Seven 340: Lifestyle & More for Quilters
1. Self-Care
I love this post on “Giving Ourselves What Technology Can’t.” And this week The Productive Woman is sharing 10+ Ways to Manage Stress on her blog and podcast.
2. Recipes to Try
This Crispy Bruschetta Chicken looks so good! I also love the look of this Creamy Tuscan Salmon. And if you love strawberries and are looking for summer salads…this round-up has 35 Strawberry Salad Recipes to choose from. And I’m definitely going to try these Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars–after all, one of my favorite food bloggers says it’s a go-to recipe for her!
3. Quilt + Sew + June $5 Pattern
First, I want to share that the $5 pattern this month is my Hope Chest quilt and mini pattern. I first made this quilt several years ago and have updated the pattern to include the mini version with both re-colored in Strawberry Lemonade. And, if you’re looking for some quick summer sewing ideas here are a few that you might want to sew up for yourself or children. And most of these are so simple they don’t require a pattern. These would also make good projects for teaching young people to sew for the first time.
- Aprons
- Potholders
- Otter Pop/Popsicle Holders
- Swim bag totes
- Coasters
4. Book + Podcast Recommendations
One of my favorite podcast listens this week was Cal Newport’s recent episode on “adventure working” which is now part of my plan for summer: think vacation with a sewing machine, lol! Also, this book by a favorite author isn’t out yet but looks perfect for anyone wanting to decrease the presence of technology in their family.
5. Summer Thoughts
It seems like summer where I live, and while the official start isn’t until June 20th, I’ve been starting to think about intentionally planning my summer. Here are the categories I’m using for my plans (and of course I’m writing it all down in a notebook):
- Travel
- Reading
- Writing
- Fitness
- Menu
- Decluttering + Organizing
- SEWING!!!
6. Cutterpillar
Recently I was sent some new-to-me quilting tools from the Cutterpillar company. (Full disclosure: the products I reviewed were sent free of charge; however, my opinions are my own). I was really impressed with the products and feel like there are definitely some game changers in their product lineup. Being able to clearly see when cutting fabrics is essential, and the Cutterpillar tools are all about light! Whether you simply need more light when cutting or are looking for a terrific light table option, you’ll find a product that works perfectly for the task. Watch my video above or head to the YouTube channel to watch. And click on the button below or use my AQUILTINGLIFE code for 15% off your order.

I love your Saturday posts. My only comment is I would love to see recipes that you have tried and not want to try more. All the recipes you post look great but you don’t post if you liked them or not.

oh SHerri!!! I so look forward to my SAturday seven posts! You make my day. I can’t wait to try the Chicken Bruschetta. That looks yummy. I agree on trying to make summer intentional. I sell items at local shows but my biggest show is at the end of August, and to be honest most of the summer is usually tied up with that. BUT, with some time managment, some careful planning, and a little grace i think i can make time for everything. Thanks for your inspiration! HAve a great DAY!!!!!
