Hello, and happy Saturday friends! Today I’m sharing the Saturday Seven 233: Lifestyle & Inspiration for Quilters post. If you are new here, you’ll find my Saturday posts contain inspiration for quilting and all things home and you. I hope you’ll enjoy these links and more. I’m going to be starting a new quilt this weekend. I really love all of my new quilts I’ll be sewing over the next month or so and couldn’t decide which one to start. So, I had a friend choose, and now I’m ready to go! I hope you get to spend some quality time with your sewing machine this weekend, too!
Saturday Seven 233: Lifestyle & Inspiration for Quilters
1. Self-Care
First, here are some great ideas on “How to Survive a Busy Season.” And Laura Vankerkam has some terrific ideas for Morning Routines here. And this article on “Creating Simple Family Routines” is also helpful. Finally–my favorite read this week for this category was “How to Put Life on Easy Mode.”
2. Cook
I want to try this Healthy Chicken Pot Pie Soup (it’s a slow-cooker recipe, too)! I’m planning on trying this Sheet Pan Pizza this week (pizza is definitely one of my top 5 favorite foods). Finally…here is a little roundup of air-fryer recipes–I’m especially interested in trying the scallops soon–something I never thought about cooking in an air fryer!
3. Quilt + Sew
This scrappy quilt is absolutely stunning and includes a free tutorial. Here is a fun roundup of “7 Sewing Projects with Free Tutorials.” And this tutorial for a Kindle Holder is another good one. This post takes a fun look at color theory for sewing and quilting.
4. Bookshelf
I do love a beautiful design book…and this one is arriving Monday! I know I mentioned The Lazy Genius Kitchen recently, but I’ve finished up my first reading of it, and it’s so good–going back to take notes soon!
5. Organizing This & that
A couple of weeks ago I shared some “To-Do List Don’ts”–here is the very helpful part 2 of that post. It’s definitely travel season, and I’m known for overpacking. So, I loved this Minimalist Packing Checklist.
6. April Sew Sampler Box
The April 2022 Sew Sampler Box from Fat Quarter Shop arrived yesterday. The theme was “Bee Creative” so of course it includes some fun fabrics from Lori Holt. This month’s box includes the first block pattern in the Bliss Quilt Along. I’ll be sewing along with my fabrics and will share my block soon. Links to all of the products included are below:
- Bee Plaids 5″ Stackers (5″ charm packs–two are included)
- More fabrics from the Bee Plaid Collection (not included, but helpful to see the other options)
- Water Soluble Marker Blue
- Bucklebee Pin Pendant (this doubles as a pincushion)
- Colonial Needles Size 9
- Bliss Quilt Along Block 1
7. Recently on the Blog
Here are links to this week’s blog posts:
- Quilting Life Podcast Episode 55 Show Notes
- 8 Layer Cake Quilt Patterns
- Moda Blockheads 4 Block 8
- Quilted Pillow Sham (May Small Project)
- Moda Blockheads 4 Bonus Block 4

How do you have your small quilts above the window attached to the wall?

Hi,
I receive you daily email and enjoy reading it. Today, Saturday, May 14, had a video about thread storage and you mentioned there would be links to some of the products you showed. My question is, where are the links? I scrolled down through the entire email and didn’t find any information on the storage options. Where do I find this information?
Thanks,
Gerry

Love the tour. Are there instructions or pattern some where for the pillow by the baskets on the shelf above the ladder near the ironing station (first photo) ? I understand the Dresden and corners but can’t figure out the border. Thanks!

Hi Sherri, with your upcoming release of Emma, can you give a suggestion for best precuts to purchase? I don’t have a specific quilt pattern in mind. Do you have a general rule for a collection? Thanks! Robin
