Hello, friends! Today I’m sharing my final new quilt pieced in our upcoming Laguna Sunrise collection. I hope you’ll love the new Patchwork Garden Remix Quilt along with the bonus quilt or topper instructions included with the quilt pattern.
Patchwork Garden Remix Quilt and Bonus Pillow or Topper
Patchwork Garden Remix Pattern Details
First, I’m so grateful for my friend Nancy Lane who did the perfect piecing on my Patchwork Garden Remix quilt and project–so grateful for her help with these! Marion Bott quilted this with an all-over quilting design. Next of note: this quilt pattern is written for Honeybuns (which will save a ton of time in cutting). It is also easily made with fat eighths or fat quarters. Below you’ll find the quilt and project details along with a link to the pattern in paper and PDF.
- The large quilt finishes at 74 ¾″ x 74 ¾″ and is Honeybun or Fat Eighth friendly (you will need two matching Honeybuns if using that option).
- The mini quilt finishes at 27″ x 21 ½″ –perfect for a nice table topper or a pillow sham.
- Both projects feature an on-point setting and so are at an intermediate level.

I’m just curious if you could explain, perhaps on your podcast, why so many of your patterns are designed to be 74×74, 76×76 etc. I find it a very awkward size. Too big for full, too small for queen, too big for lap, pretty big to hang up. What do most people do with a quilt this size and why is it so common? Yes, rows can be added, but that involves more work and it would be nice to have a standard size. Thank you!

Hi Julie! Great question! I feel like the majority of my quilts are actually rectangular. But a square quilt seems to be easier for people to downsize by leaving off a block from each row than to have to figure extra fabric for making a rectangular quilt larger. I actually just finished designing patterns for later this summer and they are all rectangles except one!

Yes, I agree with Julie Dykstra above. I wonder that also. I need the other size quilts fabric requirements. I would not know how much less fabric to buy to make your patterns smaller.

Another beautiful quilt, Sherri! This new collection is gorgeous too! I have some of the same thoughts as the two comments above. I usually stay away from patterns for square quilts unless I want a table topper. Of course your patterns aren’t the only ones like that. I just completed one of Corey Yoder’s pattern that was also a square and I did add an additional row

Hi Sherri. I am so excited for your Laguna Sunrise collection to come out. I love your quilt patterns that go with this collection as well. The hard part is choosing which one to make with the collection and which one to save for another day. Thank you for all you and Chelsea do. Hope you have a wonderful day. Hugs from Minnesota.
