Hello, friends! I’ve recently returned from the 2024 Garden of Quilts and want to share some thoughts and Tips for Quilting Classes + my Garden of Quilts 2024 recap. The event was lovely as always, and I was excited to catch up with friends old and new plus enjoy the amazing energy that just comes with any type of quilting retreat.
Tips for Quilting Classes + Garden of Quilts 2024
Garden of Quilts 2024
This year I attended Garden of Quilts in Thanksgiving Point, Utah as a presenter for the third time (I previously attended in the inaugural year of 2019 and also in 2022). This event is an absolutely incredible experience whether you are a new or experienced quilter, and even if you are attending by yourself. Of course, it’s also a wonderful event to attend with family or friends. The venue offers a wide variety of half-day and full day classes with evening events and activities that include trunk shows, lectures, a Meet the Maker event, and even a BBQ and game show activity. There really is something for everyone–and that doesn’t even include the fabulous quilt show in the gorgeous on-property gardens.
Quilting + Friends
I was super excited to teach my classes. Each class I taught had at least one student I had worked with previously, so that made it extra special. I also love seeing many of the other teachers who I’ve known in the industry for many years in some cases! I was thrilled to be able to meet Minki Kim for the first time in person. We traded some patterns and fabrics, so watch for some of her designs with my fabrics coming soon! I was also delighted to have Nancy Lane in one of my classes. We first met when I taught at her guild a couple of years ago. She has also sewn several of the lovely quilts you see here on the blog.
I love seeing friends and family get together at this event. And I also find it so heartwarming to see friendships being made in class. In more than one instance, class members became fast friends!
