Hello, friends! Today I’m sharing the Saturday Seven 322: Lifestyle and More for Quilters post with a round-up of inspiration I’ve found from around the internet this week. I hope you’ll enjoy this post and find some things to help you enjoy your weekend and the week ahead. I’ll be sewing this weekend and also doing some more organizing in my sewing room (to keep up with the mess from so much sewing). I also hope to get outside for a bit as our weather is so lovely right now!
Saturday Seven 322: Lifestyle and More for Quilters
1. Self-Care
I love the idea of a “Looking Back and Looking Forward” exercise for our work and personal lives. And this article on How to Embrace the Mess (and Find More Peace) was one of my most helpful reads on-line this week.
2. Recipes to Try
I printed off this Perfect Chicken Scampi recipe as soon as I saw it–I know it’s going to be very good! And I also want to try this Chile Relleno Casserole soon. And if you’re starting to think about your Super Bowl party menu, here is a fantastic round-up of ideas from one of my favorite food bloggers!
3. Quilt + Sew
I am so excited about a quilt I’ll be sharing with you next week…it actually just arrived back to me yesterday, so the waiting is difficult. Stay tuned to hear all about it and a fabulous sew-along with the pattern. In the meantime, if you’re looking for things to sew now for Valentine’s Day, here is a good sampling of inspiration:
- Easy Heart Quilt Patterns & Projects
- Valentines and Heart Projects Roundup
- Fast and Fun Projects for Valentines
4. January Sew Sampler Box
The January 2024 Sew Sampler Box arrived earlier this week, so we filmed a quick video to share the contents. Watch the video above or head to our YouTube channel to watch. And find the available products linked below including an a la carte box you can purchase without a subscription:
- January Box (a la carte–no subscription required)
- Sign up for the Sew Sampler Subscription Boxes
- Mercantile by Lori Holt for Riley Blake (2 ½″ x WOF strips)
- Microtex Sharp 80/12 Needles
- Pressed Flowers Quilt Block 10
- Bee Thread Cutter
5. Book + Podcast Recommendations
This has been a busy sewing week which means a lot of podcast listening (with a fair amount of reading too)! I’m currently reading Feel Good Productivity: How to Do More of What Matters to You and really love it. Podcasts I enjoyed this week include: the Greg McKeown Podcast 265; Happier with Gretchen Rubin 465; and Best of Both Worlds 338 (morning routines).
6. Home Organization
Becky from Clean Mama has a great new free printable Home Organization series with a task for every day of the month. I just printed mine off and am going to get caught up with the January tasks this weekend. And I also loved this article on “The Ten Most Important Time Management Principles I’ve Learned (and Use)”. I use every single one. Except for the bonus–number 11–just substitute a smoothie or a piece of chocolate for that one for me! And finally, this post on “The Joys of Getting Organized” has some terrific tips and hacks.
7. Recently on the Blog
Below you’ll find links to posts from earlier this week on the blog:
