Patchwork Sewing Machine Cover
Sewing Machine Cover Details
The Patchwork Sewing Machine Cover finishes at approximately 20″ x 25″. This size fits well on both of my machines, a Janome 6600P and my Bernina 475QE. It would be very easy to shorten or lengthen the width/length of the cover if needed. Materials for this project include the following:
- Patchwork: 1 Mini Charm Pack or (40) squares 2 ½” x 2 ½”
- Accent fabric: ⅛ yard (light as pictured)
- Main fabric: ⅓ yard (green as pictured)
- Backing: ¾ yard
- Binding and ties: ⅓ yard
- Batting: 24″ × 29″
I quilted my machine cover using diagonal lines spaced about ½″ apart. I was actually going to do cross-hatch quilting but got impatient (and the diagonal lines were enough to keep it nicely together). You can download a PDF of this pattern for free below. Or if you’d like a printed copy, I also have those available for purchase.

Thank you so much for this beautiful pattern! Your timing is perfect. My future daughter-in-law is graduating in May, and she will be moving back with my son, who graduated a semester earlier. Along with the rest of the apartment, she is bringing her Bernette Chicago sewing machine and Gidget table, which she is looking forward to setting up in her little office and not keeping tucked away in a closet, as had been necessary in the smaller space. She is going into teaching, and knows she will not have much time to make quilts or even little projects, but she would like to be able to be able to do a bit here and there to relax without hauling everything out.
Anyway, the cover that came with that machine long ago is decidedly ugly. Your lovely pattern is going to be a delightful pink with trim, and I plan to monogram her initial right in the middle of it!
Thank you again! I can’t wait to pick out THE perfect fabrics for this!

This is nice. I have two machines also. I usually throw a piece of fabric over them. I remember doing that a long time ago and got a pet hair in inside my Bernina screen. They discovered it was a pet hair after they said my new machine had a cracked screen. My husband was furious!
