I guess I should apologize ahead of time for posting more Farmer’s Wife blocks so soon. I really do sew other things–it’s just that these 6″ blocks are so cute that they might be a little addicting! There have been quite a few blocks in the Farmer’s Wife book that I just haven’t wanted to make paper templates for and also haven’t wanted to do the math to make (some of these are blocks constructed on a 5-grid). I was happy to find out that Marti Michell makes a set of templates just for these blocks.
When my templates arrived, I set out right away to make some of these blocks that had been troubling me. Set S contains just 4 pieces, but these 4 acryllic templates made all the difference this week. The templates are strong and sturdy and come with a handy booklet that completely explains how to use the templates; the booklet also shows several blocks that can be made with the set and also offers simplified cutting and piecing possibilities. All of the squares shown in these blocks were cut using the smallest square template from the set. All of the half-square triangles were made using the triangle template. It was so nice to be able to use these. I still have several more blocks I will be able to use these templates for as well.
First I made Block 14, Butterfly at the Crossroads.
Next I worked on Block 32, Farmer’s Daughter.
Block 101, Wedding Ring came next.
Finally, I finished up for the day with Block 106, Wild Rose & Square. Before I move on to other blocks I’ll be making these same four with my Flurry fabrics.
I might have to share those as soon as I finish them…but I’m also really itching to work on some of my other projects!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

I can see why they are addicting! These are lovely- and fiddly? Drawing up patterns can be a right pain, and then you get a bit wrong etc- I do it all the time and then get discouraged.
I think you are doing a great job on these blocks!

I like the templates but I am on a budget so I will have to make do with the ones that came with the book. You blocks are gorgeous as usual.

Just gorgeous Sherri. I'm so glad that you so willingly share with all of us out here in quilting land.
Many hugs, Debbie

I don't have set S yet, but I see now that it must be ordered ASAP! Your blocks are so pretty. Isn't that 5 grid conducive to a really interesting design? Love it.

I keep making my blocks too instead of working on other things.

The butterfly at the crossroads is sitting on my sewing table right now in pieces.
I like your color combination better than mine. Maybe it is time to take a closer look at my stash!!
