Hello, friends, and happy Saturday! In today’s Saturday Seven 228: Lifestyle & Inspiration for Quilters I’m sharing helpful and inspiring articles, recipes, quilting, sewing, and organizing ideas, and more. I hope that the ideas in these Saturday round-up posts will jump start your creativity at home and in life. We are enjoying some beautiful spring weather here this weekend, and I’ll be enjoying some outdoor time along with some good time in my sewing room.
Saturday Seven 228: Lifestyle & Inspiration for Quilters
1. Self-Care
I loved this article with inspirational thoughts on achieving true happiness. And I really enjoyed this piece proposing that we “Draw Little Conclusions, Not Big Ones.” Finally, I really loved the tips in this article on beginning a journaling practice–especially the “just do something” idea at the end. Journaling is one of my favorite self-care activities 🙂
2. Cook
I can’t wait to try this Buttermilk Blueberry Breakfast Cake (this would be perfect for Easter brunch if you’re still looking for recipes). And since I love all things lemon…I’ve got to try these Lemon Cream Meringues one of these days. For dinner, I’m thinking about these Sheet Pan Shrimp Fajitas one day next week. I’m also going to try this Best Baked Macaroni and Cheese recipe (I have a good one for a large crowd, but this one can be made in an 8 x 8 pan). Finally, this week’s air fryer recipe is Healthy Air Fryer Salmon–can’t wait to try it!
3. Quilt + Sew
This Color-Blocked Zip Pouch Sewing Tutorial also contains a printable PDF pattern. And if you have a spare Layer Cake sitting around for a quilt–this project is fast and fun (and free)! Moda Blockheads 4 is in full swing…but it’s not too late to join in on this fun quilt along. Find all of my Moda Blockheads 4 post here. Finally…here is a cute flag pillow tutorial–it’s never too soon to begin working on your summer decor!
4. Red & White Quilts II
It’s just a short time until the beautiful Red & White Quilts II book will be available with lots of eye candy and fourteen gorgeous red and white quilts to sew. My contribution is pictured above right and uses red prints from a variety of our collections. I absolutely can’t wait for this book to arrive (and my quilt to arrive back home). You can pre-order your copy of Red & White Quilts II here now.
5. February 2022 Sew Sampler Box + Bees Knees Bookstand
The Fat Quarter Shop February 2022 Sew Sampler Box arrived the other day along with a gorgeous Bees Knees Bookstand in Daisy (bright yellow). I did a quick unboxing and also shared details on Block 11 of the Bright Side Quilt Along pattern included with this month’s blocks. Items included in the box are linked below (the bookstand is a separate item):
- Kitchen Window Wovens Fat Eighth Bundle
- 100% Pure Thread Enhancing Beeswax
- Clip and Bind clips in plastic storage box
- Just Better Machine Cleaning Brushes
- Bright Side Block 11 Pattern
- Bees Knees Book Stand in Daisy
6. Home Organization
I’m not sure what it is about spring that makes me want to get everything organized. But it does, and here are some fun posts for inspiration. Find beautiful pantry inspiration ideas here. And find Ideas for Storing Sewing Notions from Jenni of In Color Order here. (My own post on organizing quilting and sewing supplies can be found here). I’ll also be sharing new thoughts on sewing room organization soon when I share the work I’ve been doing in my sewing room closet.
