Hello, friends, and happy Saturday! Today I’m sharing the Saturday Seven 199 Lifestyle & Inspiration for Quilters post. It’s fun for me to realize that I’ve been writing this round-up post now for 199 weeks straight! Anyway, I hope you’ll enjoy today’s links and ideas. I plan to sew a Jelly Roll project this afternoon (see more on that below). I’m also working on organizing my home each Saturday and have a good list of projects to get through today. But it feels so good to be getting this done that I haven’t worried about the time it’s been taking (see the first article in number 1 below for more on that). Anyway…here’s to hoping your weekend is off to a terrific beginning.
Saturday Seven 199
1. Self-Care
Here is a good list of 11 ways that decluttering is good for your mental health. I also loved the sentiments found in “The World Belongs to Those Who Hustle.” And here is a thought-provoking piece on complaining. (I’ve recently started using the technique of sharing something I’m grateful for every time I catch myself complaining. Read more about this idea in Effortless which is perhaps my favorite read so far this year).
2. Cook
I’m making this Cucumber Feta Salad this week–looks so fresh! And this Garlic Buttered Angel Hair Pasta with Burrata also looks amazing. And these Chicken Lettuce Wraps are advertised as being “better than P.F. Chang’s.” I’m also planning to try this Potato Corn Soup with Dill since it’s now officially soup weather here (I’ve decided that once it drops into the sixties at night it’s soup-time)!
3. Quilt + Sew
First…happy National Sew a Jelly Roll Day. See more on this in category 5 below. Next, here is a quick read with good ideas on Making the Most of Your Sewing Time (she’s writing primarily about sewing, but her ideas apply equally to quilting). And the American Quilter’s SAL Block 15 can be found here (five blocks remaining for this amazing free quilt).
4. Wildgrain Bread, Pasta, and More!
I shared my August WildGrain box a few weeks ago…but my September box arrived the other day, and so I have to share this one again. We have now tried every single item from the August box, and absolutely everything was amazing. I was happy to see some repeats in my September box but also can’t wait to try the Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls this weekend. Get $10 off your first box and Free Brioche Rolls with my discount code AQUILTINGLIFE…go here for more details.
5. National Sew A Jelly Roll Day – Today!
Today is National Sew A Jelly Roll Day…and I have my Jelly Roll and my project ready to go! I’m super excited to share it with you soon. Below are some of my best links for Jelly Roll tips and Jelly Roll Quilt Books (plus all of the jelly roll quilts in my shop are on sale through the end of the month–no code needed, sale prices are listed):
- On a Roll Again Jelly Roll Quilt Project Book
- Jelly Filled by my friend Vanessa Goertzen is another favorite Jelly Roll Quilt Book
- Jelly Roll Quilt Patterns + Tips (a blog post with everything you need to know about sewing with Jelly Rolls including pictures and links for some of my favorite Jelly Roll patterns and projects)!
6. Fall + Décor
I’ve been loving changing my home from summer to fall décor over the past couple of weeks. Everything has such a cozy feel. And I’ve thought a lot about style, too and have decided my eclectic taste is a pretty equal mix of traditional, farmhouse, and coastal. This article does a great job of explaining different décor styles using shops for examples. Recently I shared a cute fall printable…here is another one you’ll love! And don’t miss this earlier post on Decorating with Fall Quilts.
7. Last Week on the Blog
Below find the links to last week’s blog posts:

- All the Trimmings Mystery Quilt Week 2 (there is still time to join in and sew this darling quilt)
- Sampler Spree Quilt Blocks Update
- Quilt Works in Progress September 2021 (thank you so much for all the kind comments on this one)!
Thanks so much for reading the Saturday Seven 199 post. If you’re looking for more inspiration, you can find all of the previous posts in this series here.

Hi Sherri,
Always enjoy your emails, I too love to cook and quilt. Can you tell me what pillow pattern is, in the first picture with the saying “Life starts all over again, when it gets crisp in the fall’?

You can find all of that information in last Thursday’s post, September projects 🙂
