Hello, friends! Today I’m sharing Quilt Patterns for Precuts. I absolutely love using precuts to save time cutting, and I’ve designed a lot of my patterns to use these helpful quilting fabrics. If your stash consists primarily of yardage or larger cuts, you can easily make your own precuts, too. Over the years I’ve posted several roundups by precut category, but I haven’t yet posted all of the categories on one page. Hopefully this post will make it easy for you to find patterns for the precuts you love working with (or ones that you want to try working with).

Quilt Patterns for Precuts
Fat Quarter and Fat Eighth Patterns
I do love Fat Quarters and Fat Eighths. When I love a collection, a fat quarter bundle is my pre-cut of choice (fat quarters are 18″ x 21″). But I feel like fat eighth bundles are often overlooked (fat eighths are 9″ x 21″). You really can create a nice sized quilt with a fat eighth bundle. These bundles vary in that they just contain one of each unique print in a collection. So be sure to check the amount of prints included in these bundles when purchasing them for a specific pattern.
Layer Cake Patterns
A Moda Layer Cake contains 42 squares 10″ x 10″ and includes at least one of every print in the collection with some duplicates. I feel like this is one of the best precuts since it’s so versatile. Jelly Roll patterns can often be made with a Layer Cake. And Charm pack and Mini Charm designs also work, with lots of left overs. Find a roundup post of some of my favorite Layer Cake patterns below. Also visit the Layer Cake Archives where you’ll find even more ideas and tips for sewing with Layer Cakes.
Charm Pack + Mini Charm Patterns
A Moda Charm Pack contains 42 squares 5″ x 5″ and a Moda Mini Charm Pack contains 42 squares 2 ½″ x 2 ½″. Like their Layer Cake counterparts, at least one of every print in the collection is included with some duplicates. Find even more helpful details for Charm Pack and Mini Charm Pack sewing below.
Jelly Roll Patterns
Who doesn’t love a Jelly Roll! Moda Jelly Rolls are so cute that they are often pretty hard to unwrap. But they save an incredible amount of time. Moda Jelly Rolls contain 40 strips of 2 ½″ x WOF (42″-44″) fabric. They have pinked edges, and you’ll find that the 2 ½″ width goes from the outer edge to the outer edge of those pinked sides.
Honeybun Patterns
And finally, the Moda Honeybun precut contains 40 fabric strips 1 ½″ x WOF (42″ – 44″). They are even cuter than the Jelly Roll, I think. And they have so many uses and add to your accuracy when sewing with these smaller strips.
Thanks so much for stopping by for today’s Quilt Patterns for Precuts post. I absolutely love sewing with precuts and hope these ideas will give you a lot of inspiration. One more post you’ll find helpful is this roundup of some of my favorite projects by precut type!
Happy quilting!
