Hello and happy Wednesday! Today I‘m excited to introduce another one of the patterns using our new Creekside fabric collection. I really love this one…and there is a little story to it. It’s the final quilt I designed for this collection, and it was inspired by a checkerboard quilt my friend Marion was working on when I arrived to pick up a quilt back in December.
When I saw the other quilt which was made up of thousands of little squares…I
decided then and there that I needed to design something with little pieces. But I also knew I wanted it to be a project that wouldn’t take forever…so I set out designing…added a fun on-point setting, and set about experimenting to find piecing methods that would make this very doable!
After playing around with a couple of different options I settled on a great strip piecing technique with minimal fabric waste. I was able to piece this quilt in just over a day!
You can make this quilt with 13 different fat eighths and background, sashing, border and binding fabric. I used four different low-volume backgrounds to add even more interest to my blocks, and I picked my favorite blue for the sashing. It finishes at 63 ½″ x 63 ½″.
I absolutely love our blue roses print which I used for the border, and the navy binding seemed to finish it off (one of my favorite prints is also on the back…peeking out below).
My friend Val did the incredible custom quilting on this one…I had to show you just a bit of that too!
Patchwork Garden is available now in my Etsy shop in PDF at an introductory price ($7.95 through the weekend) with paper patterns shipping in one to
two weeks. I’ll also have a paper pattern special after I’ve introduced
all five new patterns so you can get them all at a discounted price
(more on that Thursday).
Thanks so much for stopping by!
