Hello! It’s official…today we can begin introducing our Creekside fabric collection for Moda fabrics along with the new quilt patterns! I’m excited to introduce my Starburst quilt pattern…a wonderful big-block quilt combining two of my favorite designs, the Rolling Stone block and the Saw tooth Star block!
I had a lot of fun mixing and matching different colors and prints from
Creekside for this quilt…and an extra bonus is that it goes together quickly with so many bigger pieces used for the blocks. It’s suitable for a confident beginner and beyond!
Starburst finishes at 64 ½″ x 64 ½″ and was beautifully quilted by my friend Marion using the “Woven Winds” pattern. This is a new to me quilting motif, and I think I need it on some more quilts…it fills in the backgrounds beautifully and adds a lot of movement to the overall design.
The outer block sections require fat quarters; however, the inner block stars can be pieced using fat eighths. Simple sashing without any posts brings it all together.
Today I’m also introducing “Focal Point,” a fast and fun pattern perfect for
showcasing a variety of prints in one collection…or for using
your favorites from a variety of collections.
“Focal Point” finishes at 59 ½″ x 70″ and uses 30
different fat eighths or 15 different fat quarters.
While instructions are given
to use one background fabric for the whole quilt, you’ll notice that I couldn’t
help adding in some of the low-volume prints from Creekside for some of the
quilt backgrounds.
The quilting was done by my
friend Marion who always picks wonderful designs to go along with the
quilt…this design is called “Loop to Loop,” and I love that it has
the fun loops along with the geometric straight lines, too!
I have to share the backing,
too…I used our “Roses” print in Ivory and Coral for the perfect
back with a feminine touch…and used our “Daisy Dots” print in
Geranium for the binding!
This quilt makes a nice lap
quilt; however, making just 20 blocks would make a perfect baby quilt…and of
course you could always make more blocks to make it bigger.
PDF Patterns (Starburst and Focal Point) are available now in my Etsy shop at an introductory price ($7.95 through the weekend) with paper patterns shipping in one to two weeks. I’ll also have a paper pattern special after I’ve introduced all five new patterns so you can get them all at a discounted price (more on that Thursday).
There are still three more new patterns…more on those coming soon! And I’ve got lots of close up photos of the fabrics to share as well!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Wow! I can't decide which I love most, the fabric or the patterns! Thanks for both. It's enough to weaken my resolve to use up some of my stash before buying anything more.
