Hello and happy Monday! Over the weekend I was able to finally get my Swell Christmas quilt finished up! I started binding it just as I was beginning all of the new collection quilt sewing, and the final two sides of binding have been waiting to be finished for a few weeks now!
This is such a fun quilt…and I don’t feel bad that I didn’t get it finished in time
for last Christmas…I feel great that I have a new quilt for next Christmas that is completely finished up!
The Pot Luck pattern really lets the fabric shine in this quilt…and the Dresden plate blocks add even more to the already cute designs in the fabric. I used my favorite plaid from the collection for backing and decided on the Christmas Tree print for binding. I think the binding would have been even cuter if I had had enough to cut it on the bias 🙂
A simple orange peel design scaled down quite a bit was the perfect all-over quilting pattern chosen by my friend Marion. I just love it!
And this candy cane print…another favorite. The Santa fabric that I used for the border is definitely my favorite print in the collection, though!
When I went to fussy cut the Dresden centers I wasn’t always able to center the Santa because of limited fabric…but I really like how he is off-centered–sort of like he is peeking around the corner!
One Christmas project finished…many more to go before December! I do have another one that is close to being finished that I’ll share soon, too!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

This is so charming. It really does remind me of the paper my grandmother would have carefully wrapped our gifts in, or the cards in which she always tucked a crisp five dollar bill. I'm definitely going to need to make a quilt with this–maybe more than one, to share with the siblings and cousins who share those memories. (This is where minis come in!)

I love the quilt and the quilting. Is the Orange peel design a computerized design?

I love this collection and your use of it! It's very joyful! And the orange peel quilting is the best! Really gives it texture and a sort of old fashioned feel.

Beautiful! The pattern really showcases the cute fabric. I would love to see a pic of the quilt as a whole. You get a LOT done! I’m curious as to how many hours you sew in a week!
