Hello, friends! Today I’m sharing the A Quilting Life Block of the Month October 2026. I love this month’s sawtooth star with a pinwheel center, and I’ve got a couple of different options to give you some inspiration. Also, we only have two more blocks to make in this sew along. It’s so fun to near the finish line. And I’ll be sharing details for my 2027 free BOM very soon. Keep reading for all of the details on the October block.
A Quilting Life Block of the Month October 2026
October Block Details
This month’s block features a sawtooth star with a pinwheel center. I did a couple of different things in the center as far as fabric choices go, using a low volume print in the spring version and two dark prints in my red, white, and blue version. I love how they both turned out. You may also notice that the star points are constructed with half-square triangles. This is to allow you to try a different method and/or to use scraps for these units. Feel free to make the star points using the flying geese unit instructions from last month if you prefer that method.
All of the prints for the red, white, and blue block are from our Midsummer collection. My spring version is pieced with fabrics from our Strawberry Lemonade group.
