Hello, friends! Today I’m sharing the A Quilting Life Block of the Month March 2026. This month’s block is a star with corner accents and a patchwork center made up of squares and half square triangles. You can play with your fabric and color choices to make a scrappier block, or you can use just a couple of colors. Keep reading for all of the details.

A Quilting Life Block of the Month March 2026
March Block
I loved making both versions of this block. For my red, white and blue version I used fabrics from our Harper’s Garden, Walkabout, and Poinsettia & Pear collections. For my spring block I used fabrics from Strawberry Lemonade, Raspberry Summer, and Delightfully Yours. Both blocks ended up being a fun mix of prints and colors!

March Block Video
Watch the March block video above or watch on our YouTube channel to learn even more details about the blocks and to see pressing details. Also, this month’s pattern is made with half-square triangle star points, but I talk about making those with flying geese units in the video.

Sherri, I just watched your video for the March block, my first video of yours! I have collected your BOM for the last year. I really appreciate your teaching style on the video, so approachable and clear. Thanks!

I am looking for your flying geese reference to page 3 used on the March 2026 block of the month. It’s was referred to as the easy or cheating method.
How can I get this?
Thank you

My March 2026 pattern PDF has just two pages…but I did mention on my video that you can use the Creative Grids ruler and make flying geese instead of hst’s. See the video for those details 🙂

Below is the screenshot of what I am referring to.
We’re sewing the Free Block of the Month hosted by Sherri McConnell of A Quilting Life!
For March’s block, we used 3″ Half Square Triangle Paper and swapped the outside HSTs for Flying Geese to save time. I followed page 3 of the Flying Geese Cheat Sheet, used a 9.5″ red square and 8″ white square, and trimmed with the Creative Grids Quilt Ruler 3.5″ × 6.5″for precise results.

I’m not sure who posted this information, so you’ll have to ask them…I am curious though as to where you saw this.
