Happy Friday! I hope your week has been a good one and that your weekend will be even better! Today I’m sharing this week’s small project finishes–three fun projects: Two of them were super quick projects that I’ll be making again for gifts! And the other one is my second finish for Christmas…(remember I made this tree skirt right at the beginning of the year).
I can’t even begin to tell you how fast and fun these first two projects were. I
have had them on my table to sew for a little while, and Tuesday afternoon I finally just started the first one, not realizing I’d get both of them finished up in the time I thought it would take me to do one!
First I made the 2 Fat Quarter Bucket
which is a pattern by Me & My Sister. This was super fun and
fast…and I love my little bucket! The only thing I did differently
from the pattern was to use Soft & Stable instead of the interfacing called for in the pattern.
I simply basted the Soft & Stable to the fabric piece sewing ⅛″ from the edge and did absolutely everything else according to the pattern instructions. The instructions are terrific by the way, with lots of great diagrams for someone who may not have sewn a bag, bucket, or basket before. I think they did a terrific job with the pattern! These buckets would make great gifts for Mother’s Day…the basket is fast and fun to make and would be great to fill with fun treats for your Mom or daughter, sister or friend!
The other fast finish I had this week was a Mini Notebook Cover (pattern by Annie Unrein). This is such a fun little notebook cover with an inside pockets and an extra pocket that is perfect for business cards. I went to a retreat this winter where every attendee was given the pattern, the notebook the interfacing and the Soft & Stable to make one of these cute covers. All you had to do was pick your fabric and you could stitch it up while you were at the retreat. I thought it was a fun idea…but I was busy sewing Clover Hollow quilts at the retreat, so mine had to wait!
You can see above in the picture above that I quilted the outer fabric and Soft & Stable using diagonal lines ¾″ apart. I also love the construction of the pen holder tabs…they function to keep the notebook securely closed when the pen is inserted. And…you’ll never lose your pen!
My other small finish this week was finishing up the binding on my Mini Hopscotch Table Topper (finishes at about 27″ x 27″). I love this so much…it’s really the perfect size. There is also a table runner included in the pattern which is pictured on the front cover. I had a charm pack of Christmas Figs and also used scraps left over from the tree skirt I made with that fabric. The backing fabric is from another Fig Tree collection.
My friend Marion did the quilting and used the same pattern she used for the tree skirt…so they’ll match this Christmas! I’ve got this rolled up and put away all ready though…
It’s just such a fun little table topper…you will be seeing it again this summer when I post my Christmas in July idea post for early Christmas sewing.
For me, though, I’m deciding on second quarter sewing goals and projects and will share them with you next week! Have a wonderful weekend, and thanks so much for stopping by!

I love the basket and notebook. I have made several different baskets over the years as gifts, they are such useful and pretty things to have. x

Love your cute basket and the notebook. Both are relly great gift ideas.
Aand the Fig Tree table topper is so fun and it feels good to already have some Christmas sewing done, doesn't it? I've recently finished two pillow covers with Vintage Holidays but I have a hard time putting them away and they are still on my couch;-)

I love the bucket in your big flowery print! Thanks for the Soft n' Stable tip. The hopscotch pattern in the Fig Tree fabrics is cute. I'll have to retrace my steps and find the tree skirt. I want to make my own tree skirt and I remember liking yours…
