Hello friends, and happy Saturday! It’s Christmas Eve Eve and things are definitely very busy. Today’s Saturday Seven 317: Lifestyle & More for Quilters post contains a mixed bag of ideas and inspiration for last-minute Christmas and lots of helps as you navigate the final week of the year into 2024. I hope you’ll find some ideas and inspiration and that your weekend is a beautiful one.
Saturday Seven 317: Lifestyle & More for Quilters
1. Self-Care
Here are some beautiful thoughts for those who need to be reminded of being kind to themselves. And here are very helpful thoughts on a variety of types of rest we need in our lives–listen to the podcast or just read the show notes and gain a lot of insights into making sure you procure the rest you need.
2. Recipes to Try
This Rolled Spinach Omelet looks delicious–perfect for a holiday breakfast or brunch! This Smoked Salmon Dip with Bagel Crisps looks like the perfect appetizer for any holiday get together. And this Broccoli Shells and Cheese dish is a perfect quick meal (I think I will add chicken to it, too). Finally, these Browned Butter Rice Krispie Treats look amazing!
3. Quilt + Sew
If you’re looking for a last-minute gift…this darling mug rug would be quick to sew! And Joanna Figueroa just started a Log Cabin Sew Along in conjunction with American Patchwork & Quilting–find the details here.
4. Book + Podcast Recommendations
I always look forward to the yearly challenge from the Happier Podcast–listen to this year’s challenge here. (You can also read the blog post on the 2024 Challenge episode here). This week I’ve been reading the book Glucose Revolution. There is a ton of good information, and I’m looking forward to using a lot of these ideas as I try to incorporate a more healthy menu into my life.
5. Tis the Season…
This essay on the holiday season really resonated with me the other day! If you’re gearing up for the new year, be sure to include these “6 Elements of a Productive Day” in your plan.
6. Organizing for the New Year
I loved this post with helpful tips for your cleanest and most organized year ever! And I also love the idea of incorporating a “nightly reset” into my daily routine. And finally–this one didn’t really fit into any of my categories but was kind of fun to read: “Yes, People Who Hang Toilet Paper This Way Often Do Make More Money.“
7. What’s New on the Blog

- Year in Review: Favorite Small Projects from 2023
- A Quilting Life 2023: A Year in the Life (a more personal look at my year)

Sherri:
Merry Christmas to you and your family.
I noticed your table runner with the antique handkerchiefs. Do you happen to have a pattern or instructions for this?
Thank you
