Hello, friends! Today I’m sharing details about my A Quilting Life 2024 Block of the Month sew along. It’s been wonderful to see all of the 2023 Block of the Month blocks, quilts, and even finished projects showing up. Thank you so much for sewing along! Today’s post will share everything you need to know to be ready for the January quilt-along.
A Quilting Life 2024 Block of the Month
2024 Quilt and Block Details
As in year’s past, this year’s quilt along will be a mystery block of the month program. This means that I will not be sharing pictures of the blocks or the finished quilt at the beginning. Here are some of the highlights of the 2024 sew along with a few details on fabrics I’ll be using:
- This year’s blocks will feature both 16″ and 8″ finished sizes of blocks.
- There will be a setting for each size quilt provided in early December 2024.
- This year block patterns and videos will be available on the first Monday of each month here on the blog. I will also post a video that day on our YouTube channel where I’ll go into more detail about the month’s block and share tutorials.
- I will be making my quilt using our Strawberry Lemonade collection which will be available in stores in early 2024 (pictured throughout this post).
- I will have also some starter fabric bundles available from the Strawberry Lemonade collection in the shop very soon.
- I’m sewing along with the tone on tone from Strawberry Lemonade. Moda Bella 9900-200 is also a great background option if you are using this fabric collection.
- Find more solids that coordinate with Strawberry Lemonade on this post.

Reminders for 2023
Finally, just a reminder for those of you who have sewn along in 2023. Be sure to download all of the PDF’s you need before the end of the year. At that time, I’ll remove the files in order to make room in my digital file storage for the new year’s blocks.
- Go here for the Block of the Month landing page with links to all of the monthly posts. You can download each month’s blog from the corresponding post.
- Find previous year Block of the Month pattern files in my shop here.
Happy quilting, and I can’t wait to see you on January 1, 2024 when we begin sewing the A Quilting Life 2024 Block of the Month.

First of all, thank you for doing this sew along. It is so nice of you. I am wondering if you are making both size blocks and combining them into one quilt.
Also, I just love your podcast. You all have made us feel like we are part of your quilting family. Thank you!
I hope you and your family enjoy your holiday season and I wish you happiness and good health in the new year.

Looking forward to another year of monthly blocks. I have made your Monthly blocks for the past 2 years. I’m trying to finish up 2023. Thank you so much for doing this. I did see your Daughter’s Christmas house tour. So many special things to share. Enjoyed her sharing with us Quilters. Wishing you and your Family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

I’ve only just found your site and projects, and have decided to check out the 2024 BOM. I’ll be using stash fabric; after 30 years as a quilter, I don’t need much in the way of new fabric — even backing! But this will be a fun way to use up what I have! Thank you!
Donna Bagshaw says
Thank you so much for inspiring me to be a better quilter and sharing your knowledge and patterns! I hope you and your family have a blessed Christmas!!

This is my first time doing a block of the month quilt along, and I am very confused. I purchase the fabric’s for it in both regular and Christmas fabrics. I received them last week, but the instructions were for a 6 inch or 12 inch block. I did not receive enough fabric to make a larger block, and the fabrics are totally different than what you are showing. Are there new instructions? I have already cut out all of my fabrics and have even started sewing them together. Not sure what to do now. Please advise. Thank you.
sherri McConnell says
I’m not sure what you are referring to. The Fabric requirements for this year’s sew along can be found here on this post.
And the only cutting so far is for the January block which is also here on this post.
You might have found the 2023 information somewhere which is a 12″ and 6″ block.
