I’ve been working on another Fresh Cottons quilt, “Vanilla & Blooms“…I can’t wait to start adding the applique’d flowers…it’s really going to make this quilt. I have loved making this pattern–my favorite pattern at the moment–it’s simple and quick, and there is something very vintage about the design that I love! I think this might end up being my favorite Fresh Cottons quilt!
Favorite threads right now…the new Soul Blossoms thread collection from Amy Butler…if the threads are this gorgeous…just imagine how beautiful the fabric will be!
Favorite fabric out this month…Sandi Henderson’s Meadowsweet 2 (this is just seven of the 14 prints…I’m expecting the remaining seven pieces on Monday). This collection is even more wonderful than the first Meadowsweet (which I also love)–it has a softer look that I really like!
Oh…and a giveaway to celebrate my 2nd Blogiversary! I just want to say thank you to everyone for all of the wonderful tips, techniques, tutorials, and comments…it’s just been amazing how much there is to learn through blogging. So…if you’d like to enter please leave a comment sharing what quilting topic you’d like to learn more about…or what topics you’d like to have covered in a tutorial. I’ll keep the giveaway open until July 31st when I’ll randomly draw 4 names. The first name drawn will get their choice of prizes…the second can choose from what remains, and so on. First choice is the Verna Piece of Cake quilt above–I’ve loved Verna and made several quilts with it; this pattern is my favorite pattern to use when making a quilt for a gift…fast and fun!
I also have two $20 gift certificates to give away, compliments of Jackie at Canton Village Quilt Works (thank you Jackie)! There are lots of fun things to choose from in Jackie’s shop…I’ve ordered from her before, and her service is excellent!
One more winner will get a PDF pattern of Stephanie’s newest bag design…the Oak Park Bag. Stephanie’s blog was one of the very first I started reading two years ago, and I’ve enjoyed absolutely every one of her posts! Thanks again for two wonderful years of blogging! Have a great day!

I think that may be my favorite, too. That's a really cool pattern, and the fabrics, well, you know.
Happy Blogiversary! I've enjoyed all of your posts. You're always working on something pretty, and I love stopping by to see what you're up to. Thanks so much for all the inspiration!
Congrats on your blogiversary…….what a generous giveaway……….not sure what tutorial I'd like to see…..I'll figure that out as soon as I post, I'm sure…….Love your blog.
Your Fresh Cottons quilt is gorgeous so far, and I can see why you're so in love with Meadowsweet!
What a generous giveaway. Fingers crossed 🙂
Oh… Forgot to mention that I would like to see a tutorial about free-motion quilting and ideas for motifs.
I love reading your blog, you inspire me to make it too. Thats how I came about making Posies a la Mode, I had fun making it.
What I want more than anything is a second Year of Schnibbles. I have so much fun with the Schnibbles and if it weren't for the fun Year of Schnibbles I may not have as many quilts made.
I love Stepanies Oak Park Tote pattern I own it and I've made one so far for a gift.
Thanks for the nice giveaway and Happy Blogiversary.
I really enjoy seeing your finished quilts and fabrics that you show that you are planning to make. They are a nice inspiration. Keep them coming. You are offering great prizes…I would love to win any of them.

I would love a tutorial on how you get so many darn quilts done!…lol
How about inset seams? Great giveaway – thanks for the chance!
Happy Blogiversary! I love that Vanilla Blooms! It really is sweet.
I think I know something I want to learn is zippers, I can make great bags etc but the zippers never work out for me.
Happy Anniversary! I'd love some tips on machine quilting with a regular, old, Kenmore sewing machine!

I would love to see a tutorial on hand applique.
Congratulations on two years, I love the Vanilla blooms what a great quilt
LOVE TO STITCH BEE TREE DESIGNS says
wow, I can't pick my favorite prize, they are all great. Thanks for such a great giveaway. will put it on my blog. As far as what I'd like to see from you, anything just more more more, especially the applique you're going to do on the fresh cottons quilt you are working on! congratulations!! cyndi
Happy Blogaversary! I just love that quilt pattern. I hope to make one for myself.
Love the quilt you are working on. I haven't used this fabric but have seen several quilts made with this line. If I could afford any more fabric at the moment this would be the line I would use. Maybe soon. I have a terrible fear of applique. I would love a tutorial on either machine or hand applique. I would also love to learn to machine quilt with my Janome Heart Truth machine. I just don't have the courage to screw up something I have spent some much time working on.
If it will help you choose me–I read your blog on a regular basis. :>)
I love that quilt pattern, too! I maker it as a sure-to-do, yours is looking fabulous.
I know this seems a little silly, but you're so fast and your piecing always looks so great – I would love a tutorial on what you do when you piece. I want all the details! Thread type, needle, stitch length, pin or not, backstitch or not, how you press open – all 🙂
A tutorial on quilt labels. Its always a great chore when all I want to do is finish the last stitch in the binding and throw it in the wash!
Beautiful quilt, Sherri. Happy blogiversary and wonderful giveaways!
A tute on how to choose thread colors for the actual quilting. I'm always stumped if the top has a bunch of colors in it…..Of course that would apply to a back too.
I would love to learn more about the best batting to use for hand quilting. I think I now know which batting not to use for hand quilting….
I'm mostly a machine quilter, if you can't tell from my comment.
Happy Blogiversary!! I would love to see a tutorial on picking thread colors for the quilting!! I love Fresh Cottons also!! Thanks for the opportunity.
Happy Blogaversary! I have really enjoyed your blog and seeing all the gorgeous quilts you make. You are one very busy gal and so talented. Tutorials are such a great resource. I love learning more about everything related to quilting.

Vanilla & Blooms is gorgeous Sherri – another winner with Fresh Cottons! Congratulations on the second anniversary of blogging!
I would like tips and solutions on working with bias pieces in quilt construction.
Love Fresh Cottons and was just looking at that fabric in my stash wondering what kind of quilt to make with it. Ta da! Your blog post was the answer. Thanks for the inspiration and happy bloggiversary.
sincerely yours says
Congratulations on your second blogiversary; I could never pick a favorite from your quilts, they're all so lovely…I simply believe you have a gift for choosing compatible fabrics. I would love to learn more ideas for quilt labels and I too am always "stumped" when it comes to choosing the right thread color for quilting a finished quilt (how do you figure out what color will blend in the best on a multi-colored top, especially one with both light and dark fabrics). But, truthfully I enjoy reading all your blogs! Many happy years of quilting in the future!
Fellow quilter, Emma
Congratulations on your second blogiversary!! I really like all the quilt that you make. Keep up the great work
Two years? wow! Congrats! Time just flies when you are having fun!
I love your Piece of Cake quilt. It is really wonderful. I'd love to read more about mock hand – machine applique? I'm always curious what gadgets people use so that's another thing…
Hi, I love to check out whats new on your blog. I have loved the year of schnibbles and would love for a 2nd year. Zippers are not my favorites, so ideas for simple ways to do them would be a help.
I just love seeing what you are making with all the new fabrics – if you continue with showing us your work – that would be my request for your third year. You really are an inspiration for me – you are always keeping busy! I LOVE seeing your creations – especially market pictures that show your work! It makes me feel lucky to "know" you!! Keep sharing your work and I'll be a fan forever 🙂 Congratulations on a fun, busy, inspiring and happy two years!

Congratulations on your anniversary. I realy enjoy reading your blog. You sure have some great eye candy for me to check out. Love your Year of Schnibbles parades. Happy Blogaversary! I love the fresh cottons quilt. I can't wait to see it finished with the appliqued flowers. I'd like more details on free motion quilting. I love it and am always curious how others free motion, like the little details, how you stop and start a new bobbin, etc… That would be great. Thanks for the chance at such a lovely give away.
Happy blogiversary! I always enjoy the eye candy you show on your blog. Fun to see the quilts you make and what fabric line you are working with.
I am buying that quilt pattern on Monday. Too cute!
I would love to have posts or tutorials about colour – I really have no confidence with colour and love to hear about how other people see, understand, use and combine colour. I love the Fresh Cottons but most of all I am a big Verna fan so that quilt would be easily my first choice if I was picked first, Happy blogaversary!
Oh I love that Verna quilt. so fresh and lively.
Jennie in GA says
great blog and give away. How about telling us how you choose your fabrics?
Happy second anniversary. Thanks for celebrating it with a generous giveaway x 4! I'd love your thoughts on how to use charms — seems I have collected quite a few of them! Thank you
Congrats & thanks on two years of wonderful inspiration. I love all about quilting. Hugs from France.
Congratulations on your second blog anniversary. I love coming to your blog to see the fabric lines you are working with and the pattern choices you make. It was fun to see the Schnibbles series. I think one learns lots from seeing other using patterns that are out there.
Thanks for the nice giveaway- some very lovely prizes for your winners.
Maybe off topic but I'd like to learn about how to get in on bees or swaps etc.
Congrat's on your second anniversary. I always enjoy the inspiration from other bloggers and find there is so much to learn in the world of quilting!
Wow, congrats to you! I love everything you make, so pretty. I think I would love to see more selecting colors and patterns. I have had some difficulty picking a focus and trying to find the "go togethers". Thank you for a lovely giveaway, Elaine
Being a newer quilter, I'm intimidated by applique! Happy Blogiversary!

Happy bloggiversary!! You have a really nice blog and it is always fun to visit you.
I would love to have tutorials on small purses and bags.
ooooh, you're so proliferous…another awesomely beautiful quilt-to-be! I haven't touched my Fresh Cottons yet but you make my fingers itch to start (that happens every time I visit your blog…).
Did you already test the Soul Blossoms thread? I always wondered if it were a little bit 'linty' from the pictures I've seen online and therefore hesitate to buy it…
Meadowsweet Two looks gorgeous…I'm already looking forward to what you'll make with it.
As to what I like to learn about more…hmmm…there's so much I love to learn…but what I really like to know more of is the process of YOUR quilt making…not just the finished product…;o)
Do you think the Random Integer Generator is to bribe with anything? Because I'd absolutely love to win the Verna quilt…it combines 3 very lovable things:
– it's beautiful on its own
– it uses some of my most favourite fabrics released in the last year
– it is made by you, and I know what great workmanship you do & I would be honoured to have a quilt made by Sherri in my home (it would match perfectly the Verna quilt that's going to live on my bed…).
Happy Blog-o-versary again (may there follow many, many more!),
Fantastic quilt Sherri…Love it! Happy Blogiversary!!!!!!!! I would love a tutorial on your time management skills…you get tons done!
by the way sorry for leaving another comment, i would love to see more begining tutorials for quilting
I'm a pretty new reader, enjoying your blog and all the lovely quilts. Congratulations on your blogiversary!
I always love seeing the many things you're up to. Can't wait to see what you do with the new Meadowsweet. I really want to do a scalloped border and have yet to take the plunge. I have a quilt waiting. Lovely giveaway. Happy blog anniversary.
Happy Blogiversary!!!!! I would love to see anything related to quilting the quilts from simple to more complex ideas.
Thanks for the great giveaway!
luv your blog….I am happy just soaking in any nuggets you care to divulge on quilting…but, putting together fabrics for a quilt would be a topic I could use

Gefeliciteerd! Two years of blogging with so much beauty and sharing. It is lovely knowing you, Sherri and reading about what you have accomplished once again.
Congrats! Love following your blog. Love the soft colors of most of your creations…..always soothing and refreshing.
My biggest stumbling block is quilting a finished project….I've got lots of tops waiting to turn into swans!
Thanks for the give-a-ways!

Thanks for a chance to win and Congrats. And you are right that blogs are just fantastic for tips and tricks. I've learned so much as a new quilter. I would like to see info on creative backings- THANKS!!
love to see the quilts you do
id love to see more about choosing fabrics…when mixing designer fabrics, what is the design maker for you? do you take a lot of consideration for which fabric goes with which pattern? or do you just love a fabric line, love a pattern and voila…a quilt? thanks for the giveaway, i enjoy reading your blog.
Think Outside the Box says
Meadowsweet 2 is one of my favorites at the moment as well, I always like to see what new projects you're working on and would love to see a tutorial on free motion quilting.

I love to see what other people are sewing, so that's always great, but I think the one topic I'd love to learn more about is binding. Binding is the one part of quilting that leaves me with dread every time I do it. I'm not good at it by any means and an awesome tutorial would be so helpful! Happy blogoversary!
Congratulations on your blogiversary! I just love seeing lots of fabrics and quilts on your blog. It inspires me! Thanks for the giveaway! :0)

Happy Blogiversary! Love your latest Fresh Cottons quilt top and looking forward to seeing the finish photo.
I'd love to see a tutorial on scallop edged quilts or ruffle edge finish.
Happy 2 years! Two years of inspiration!
I'd love to see more about:
Fabric Selection – how do you select and balance colors
FMQ – how to decided on a quilting pattern.
Precision Piecing – my blocks sometimes comes out a hair too small. I've done all the checking of my 1/4" seam but I'm not consistent with right sized blocks. Especially those with a lot of pieces.
Happy Blogiversary! I love to read your blog and it´s always so nice to read about all your works and they looks wonderful. I can´t say what I´ll learn more about but what ever you´ll show it will be good for me 🙂

Hi Sherri! Happy Blogiversary! I love your blog and have learned so much from you and often I come to get inspiration. Thank you for sharing your talents with us. I would like to learn more about how to square up a quilt after it comes back from the quilter. I have limited cutting space and end up using scissors to do this (I know) and I believe there has to be a better way.
Happy Blogaversary 🙂
I love to visit your blog and I stop by nearly every day!
I look forward to seeing what you'll create in the coming year too 🙂
Happy Blogiversary Sherry! I can't believe you've only been blogging for 2 years – it seems like you've always been a part of my quilt-gawking life since I started about 5 years ago. I can't wait to see what projects you finish next.
Happy Anniversary! I love, love, love, your blog and seeing all the lovely projects you work on. I would like to see an applique tutorial. Thanks for all the inspiration!!
There are soooo many great articles and tutorials out there on techniques. But honestly, what I struggle with most is fabric choice. I am always so unsure of what goes with what and how it will look in my quilt. I have even debated getting Electric Quilt to help me visualize. I would love a post with hints/tips how to choose colors and patterns for quilts when you aren't using a precut pack or a fabric "line". Thanks for the chance!
Thanks for all the prizes! I would like a tutorial on machine quilting – especially small projects, like a runner.
I love your blog – thank you for taking the time! I would love a tutorial on how to use your ruler to cut triangles.
Happy Blogiversary! I would love to learn more about free motion quilting.
I always look forward to your newest blog post. I read somewhere about a no-waste flying geese block. If it's the Eleanor Burns method, I have the directions, but if not, I'd love a tutorial! Congratulations on the blogiversary!!!

Congrats to you! It's been a great two years here on your blog. I'm so happy we have been able to become friends here! I just learned how to paper piece so I would love to see more of that technique. I could also use a refresher on doing applique, since I'm looking for some hand-sewing projects. I just ordered some Meadowsweet 2 fabrics – can't wait to see them. Now I need to find some of those new threads!

On thing about your post…you always have the newest and so it is fun to see what we haven't spotted yet..does that make sense? If you have a tutorial perhaps something along the lines of how you accomplish so much so fast! Seriously…..time management…how many hours a day spent on house, family, cooking and how many cutting, sewing, quilting…that sort of thing.
I love the vanilla blooms quilt–I've been wanting to try that pattern out since I first saw it! I'd be interested in learning more about selecting pleasing quilt layouts and also choosing quilting motifs for different quilts. Thanks for the great giveaway! 🙂

I have honestly enjoyed "A Year of Schnibbles" that is hosted by you and Sinta. For that, I sincerely say "Thank You".
A quilting topic: Always so happy to learn more about the "quilting" process. I have a longarm and take any tidbit advice given.
Hi! I'm new in the quilt&blog world and I'd lovo to now more about strange and new way to bilding…
My blog is http://www.ilblogdipepe.blogspot.com
Happy Blog-iversary!!! As always, you have the most delightful projects and fabrics on your blog today. I may have to get the pattern for Vanilla & Blooms–looks great and I do have a stash of Fig Tree fabrics I could use. Thanks for all the inspiration!
Congratulations on your blog-iversary and thanks for the generous giveaway. The issues I need help with may be too specific for a tutorial. When piecing quilts with quarter-inch seams on quilters cotton, have problems getting the thread/tension to be set correctly and the thread from balling up/shredding/breaking. This is a 1970 Singer.
Im a beginner in lots of areas, my biggest thing is making choices! There are so many patterns and so many lovely fabrics how do you decide what with go together? Im not a designer! Love your quilts, thanks for the insperation!
Congrats on two years of blogging! So nice of you to have a giveaway. I love your quilts and also the blogs of the two giveaway prize choices 🙂 You all are so talented.
Wow! I can't believe it's been 2 years…where did it go? Happy Day!
Tutorials, Sherri? Why I'd be interested in anything you have to say because you've taught me so much already. And just think…we'll all have our own front row seats.
Congrats on your two years. Heres to many more.
Happy 2nd blogging anniversary! What a grand list of prizes!! I'd enjoy a tutorial on how to do a wonky quilt block.

Also a tutorial on machine quilting larger size quilts on a home machine, I have a Bernina 180E and struggle each time I have to quilt something larger than a lap quilt. Happy Blogging Anniversary. I have so enjoyed your wonderful ideas. I am a machine quilter of 11 years. My stress is finding the right fabrics to put together for a quilt! Does it have to do with who will receive the quilt??? Please, more tutorials!!

I always enjoy reading your posts. This might be my favorite quilt of yours too. I am not sure what I like to learn more about, but what about making a tutorial when you are adding the flowers on the quilt? Thanks for entering your generous giveaway.
Happy Blogiversary!! I have been reading your blog for over a year and have so enjoyed all the beautiful quilts and great posts! I love the Vanilla Blooms quilt so far–it is SO pretty. I haven't found a Fig Tree line or pattern that I don't like yet!
I think a very useful tutorial for me would be on how to decide what quilt pattern is best for each quilt. I'm least confident in that area.

Happy blogiversary to you Sherri- tow years!!! Your blog is wonderful and one of the ones I started reading before I ever thought of starting a blog of my own. I would love to see another tutorial from you… I know that's not so easy but they are so fun! Since you have so much basic sewing knowledge besides quilting knowledge I would like to hear what techniques you have from one area that benifits the other.
I would love to win -please pick me.
Congratulations on your 2nd blog anniversary! I would like some tips on how to choose fabrics for a pattern. Is there a tip for knowing what colors a particular pattern would look good using? Does that even make sense??
Congratulations on 2 years of blogging. Since finding your blog I've loved reading and watching what you are doing. I would love information on both free motion quilting which I need to give a try and also applique as there is so much that I love but haven't got the nerve to try. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Happy 2nd Bloggiversary!! I enjoy reading your blog and eyeballing your creatios!

Oh my goodness . . . how can you possibly give away your Verna quilt? Please, please, please let me win!!! I would like a tutorial on how to start something and actually keep working on it until it is finished! Seriously, I have not done any applique and that would be great (not that I'll finish it) and also a tutorial on piecing backs would be great and hints on how to get it lined up straight to the front.
Congratulations on your two year anniversary. My morning doesn't start without a quick peak to see what you've posted.
What a lovely give a way. I am a fairly new quilter and I would love more tutorials on machine quilting. Thanks for your generosity!!!

How to get motivated to be more exact in my piecing.
Thanks for the giveaway.
My biggest challenge is the actual quilting, and choosing what pattern to use in what space. I read about it and read about it and still feel so uncertain when it is time to take those first stitches. Any guidance there would be great! Thanks for the opportunity to win!

I love that fabric you ordered, thanks…I will have to keep my eyes peeled for it. I love that bag pattern, too! CUTE.
🙂 My biggest challenge is knowing which way to iron. I seem to mess that up a lot.

How beautiful…I love the Fig Tree fabrics. Can't wait to see the applique that goes on your quilt. My favorite quilting marries applique with piecing.
Love your blog-you make so many cute things. I want to learn to make the english paper piecing hexagons. I have seen some of the blocks and love them but have never tried to make them.

What a gorgeous quilt. I would love to see tutorials on free motion quilting.
I would really like to see something on how you combine your fabric. Often, I just buy one piece out of a collection and it is kind of hard to combine it with other fabric.
First of all, what a beautiful quilt top! I need color design…I am dreadful at picking out fabrics to go together…so I do scrappy and pick all of them!
Happy 2 years! That's a beautiful new quilt!! I'd love to learn more about free motion quilting.

What a great giveaway and the chance to win!
I see these wonderful raw edged appliques and would love to learn how to do that, how to cut out a boot or umbrella or house or animal from a piece of fabric and then adhere it to a background with stitching all around. The fill in with some free motion 'drawing' of a tree or boat or whatever! Love to learn how. Thank!
Fantastic giveaway and congrats on 2 years! I would love to learn more about free motion quilting.
Lovely give-away on this lovely blog. I do come often to read about your projects and tips. And I love it.

Sometimes I even get a peek at the goings on in Las Vegas quilting world.
I just happened onto this blog today, what a happy surprise! Colors are what draw my interest, and your color choices are what attracted me to read and join your blog.
Tutorials? I'd love to see info on using those fabulous jelly rolls that I can't resist, but don't know how to use — except to decorate the shelves in my sewing room 😀
