I’ve been working on another Fresh Cottons quilt, “Vanilla & Blooms“…I can’t wait to start adding the applique’d flowers…it’s really going to make this quilt. I have loved making this pattern–my favorite pattern at the moment–it’s simple and quick, and there is something very vintage about the design that I love! I think this might end up being my favorite Fresh Cottons quilt!
Favorite threads right now…the new Soul Blossoms thread collection from Amy Butler…if the threads are this gorgeous…just imagine how beautiful the fabric will be!
Favorite fabric out this month…Sandi Henderson’s Meadowsweet 2 (this is just seven of the 14 prints…I’m expecting the remaining seven pieces on Monday). This collection is even more wonderful than the first Meadowsweet (which I also love)–it has a softer look that I really like!
Oh…and a giveaway to celebrate my 2nd Blogiversary! I just want to say thank you to everyone for all of the wonderful tips, techniques, tutorials, and comments…it’s just been amazing how much there is to learn through blogging. So…if you’d like to enter please leave a comment sharing what quilting topic you’d like to learn more about…or what topics you’d like to have covered in a tutorial. I’ll keep the giveaway open until July 31st when I’ll randomly draw 4 names. The first name drawn will get their choice of prizes…the second can choose from what remains, and so on. First choice is the Verna Piece of Cake quilt above–I’ve loved Verna and made several quilts with it; this pattern is my favorite pattern to use when making a quilt for a gift…fast and fun!
I also have two $20 gift certificates to give away, compliments of Jackie at Canton Village Quilt Works (thank you Jackie)! There are lots of fun things to choose from in Jackie’s shop…I’ve ordered from her before, and her service is excellent!
One more winner will get a PDF pattern of Stephanie’s newest bag design…the Oak Park Bag. Stephanie’s blog was one of the very first I started reading two years ago, and I’ve enjoyed absolutely every one of her posts! Thanks again for two wonderful years of blogging! Have a great day!

Happy Blogaversary! I just love that quilt pattern. I hope to make one for myself.

Love the quilt you are working on. I haven't used this fabric but have seen several quilts made with this line. If I could afford any more fabric at the moment this would be the line I would use. Maybe soon. I have a terrible fear of applique. I would love a tutorial on either machine or hand applique. I would also love to learn to machine quilt with my Janome Heart Truth machine. I just don't have the courage to screw up something I have spent some much time working on.
Great give-away.
If it will help you choose me–I read your blog on a regular basis. :>)

Congratulations on your second blogiversary; I could never pick a favorite from your quilts, they're all so lovely…I simply believe you have a gift for choosing compatible fabrics. I would love to learn more ideas for quilt labels and I too am always "stumped" when it comes to choosing the right thread color for quilting a finished quilt (how do you figure out what color will blend in the best on a multi-colored top, especially one with both light and dark fabrics). But, truthfully I enjoy reading all your blogs! Many happy years of quilting in the future!
Fellow quilter, Emma

I would love to have posts or tutorials about colour – I really have no confidence with colour and love to hear about how other people see, understand, use and combine colour. I love the Fresh Cottons but most of all I am a big Verna fan so that quilt would be easily my first choice if I was picked first, Happy blogaversary!

Hi Sherri,
ooooh, you're so proliferous…another awesomely beautiful quilt-to-be! I haven't touched my Fresh Cottons yet but you make my fingers itch to start (that happens every time I visit your blog…).
Did you already test the Soul Blossoms thread? I always wondered if it were a little bit 'linty' from the pictures I've seen online and therefore hesitate to buy it…
Meadowsweet Two looks gorgeous…I'm already looking forward to what you'll make with it.
As to what I like to learn about more…hmmm…there's so much I love to learn…but what I really like to know more of is the process of YOUR quilt making…not just the finished product…;o)
Do you think the Random Integer Generator is to bribe with anything? Because I'd absolutely love to win the Verna quilt…it combines 3 very lovable things:
– it's beautiful on its own
– it uses some of my most favourite fabrics released in the last year
– it is made by you, and I know what great workmanship you do & I would be honoured to have a quilt made by Sherri in my home (it would match perfectly the Verna quilt that's going to live on my bed…).
Happy Blog-o-versary again (may there follow many, many more!),
Julia

id love to see more about choosing fabrics…when mixing designer fabrics, what is the design maker for you? do you take a lot of consideration for which fabric goes with which pattern? or do you just love a fabric line, love a pattern and voila…a quilt? thanks for the giveaway, i enjoy reading your blog.
Think Outside the Box says
Hi Sherri,
Meadowsweet 2 is one of my favorites at the moment as well, I always like to see what new projects you're working on and would love to see a tutorial on free motion quilting.

I love to see what other people are sewing, so that's always great, but I think the one topic I'd love to learn more about is binding. Binding is the one part of quilting that leaves me with dread every time I do it. I'm not good at it by any means and an awesome tutorial would be so helpful! Happy blogoversary!

I'd love to see more about:
Fabric Selection – how do you select and balance colors
FMQ – how to decided on a quilting pattern.
Precision Piecing – my blocks sometimes comes out a hair too small. I've done all the checking of my 1/4" seam but I'm not consistent with right sized blocks. Especially those with a lot of pieces.

Hi Sherri! Happy Blogiversary! I love your blog and have learned so much from you and often I come to get inspiration. Thank you for sharing your talents with us. There are soooo many great articles and tutorials out there on techniques. But honestly, what I struggle with most is fabric choice. I am always so unsure of what goes with what and how it will look in my quilt. I have even debated getting Electric Quilt to help me visualize. I would love a post with hints/tips how to choose colors and patterns for quilts when you aren't using a precut pack or a fabric "line". Thanks for the chance!

Now I need to find some of those new threads!

On thing about your post…you always have the newest and so it is fun to see what we haven't spotted yet..does that make sense? If you have a tutorial perhaps something along the lines of how you accomplish so much so fast! Seriously…..time management…how many hours a day spent on house, family, cooking and how many cutting, sewing, quilting…that sort of thing.

Congratulations on your blog-iversary and thanks for the generous giveaway. The issues I need help with may be too specific for a tutorial. When piecing quilts with quarter-inch seams on quilters cotton, have problems getting the thread/tension to be set correctly and the thread from balling up/shredding/breaking. This is a 1970 Singer.

Happy Blogging Anniversary. I have so enjoyed your wonderful ideas. I am a machine quilter of 11 years. My stress is finding the right fabrics to put together for a quilt! I know what I like when I see it but there must be some planning and thinking or rules to have it turn out magnificent!….I would love to see a tutorial on how and why you choose the fabrics you choose to put together and with what pattern!!! Does it have to do with who will receive the quilt??? Please, more tutorials!!
THanks….

I love the Vanilla Blooms quilt so far–it is SO pretty. I haven't found a Fig Tree line or pattern that I don't like yet!
I think a very useful tutorial for me would be on how to decide what quilt pattern is best for each quilt. I'm least confident in that area.
Cottage lover says
Happy Bloggiversary, Sherri! I just want to say how inspiring you are! You accomplish so much and your work is always beautiful! I am quite a fan of Fig Tree so I am smitten by your Vanilla Blooms quilt. Can't wait to see it finished! I am currently working on both French Kiss and Posies a la Mode.
