Hello, friends, and happy Saturday! Today I’m sharing the Saturday Seven 334: Lifestyle & More for Quilters with fun things I’ve found from around the internet this week. I have tulip pictures from a recent venture out of town, and I’m also sharing a fun home project that has kept me really busy this week!
Saturday Seven 334: Lifestyle & More for Quilters
1. Self Care
First, I really loved this post on “Honoring Your Word to Yourself.” I also loved this article on Focus. And finally, if you’re feeling like you’re just not getting as much done as the next person, read this post on “The Give and Take of Getting Things Done.” It’s so true, and so worth reading!
2. Recipes to Try
First, Raspberry Butter–yes, please! And there are a lot of good ideas on this Easy Recipes for Dinner post. Crispy Potato Taco Bowls look very good, too! Finally, I’m definitely trying this Amazing Olive Oil Cake this weekend!
3. Quilt + Sew
First, I’m in the pattern design process right now for an upcoming collection and am wondering if any of you have any pattern suggestions or recommendations for me! Share your thoughts in the comments below! Next up: the Piece and Quilt Sampler sew along has begun. You’ll need the Celebrate with Quilts book to sew along. And then download the Sew Along packet here! I can’t wait to get sewing! And finally, I’ll be opening up my Quilting Life Academy on-line course for the second session soon. Stay tuned for details!
4. Book & Podcast Recommendations
I recently listened to the Adam Grant conversation with Anne Lamott (author of Bird by Bird + 19 other books). Grant and Lamott discussed love, writing, and being “judgy.” I also enjoyed this recorded live episode from Cal Newport (especially the story from his recent book about Jane Austen and productivity).
5. Simplify + Planner Favs
First, I loved this post on “The 5 Most Important Areas of Life to Simplify.” (It’s been super helpful as I’ve been trying to simplify my closet this week). Next: this Home + Sort Planner is amazing! I saw it at a friend’s house and immediately ordered one for myself. The Home + Sort features undated calendar pages with 12 months of guided decluttering ideas and checklists. It’s full of information, and you can start with whichever category you’d like and go through the year. Finally, I just picked up one of these planners and really like the format. It’s undated with lots of daily pages and places to write lists and to-do’s!
6. Closet Remodel
A little bit of life lately here…I’ve been planning on a closet remodel since we moved into our home four years ago. But projects elsewhere (including the sewing room) were higher on the list. My closet finally moved to the top of the que this week, and it’s been quite the project. Emptying my closet was educational (and I walked two miles with all of the back-and-forth trips to put everything in the guestroom. Next up I got to paint…which I actually didn’t mind! The framework I designed with the help of our amazing carpenter is being installed as I write. I’ll have updated pictures next week!
