Imagine being stranded while on a quilt cruise! Actually, being stranded while on a cruise with unlimited Moda fabrics and basic quilting supplies soundls like the ideal vacation to me! Of course, I would need my favorite notions with me too…
First of all, I absolutely love my Clover seam ripper…and yes, I have two…I like it so much that I was afraid I might lose it and bought a back-up! If you have to rip out any stitches, this terrific seam ripper is sharp and comfortable to hold!
Another notion I have to have is Clover Binding Clips! I can’t believe I put binding on quilts for nearly 20 years without these wonderful gems!
I always have some on a quilt, and I store the ones not in use in a patchwork bag along with thread, scissors, and needles–my own ready to travel binding kit!
Finally, another of my favorite notions is my Fit to be Quarter 6.5 ruler by Monique Dillard. I use this ruler nearly every day to trim half-square triangles, quarter – square triangles, and to square up blocks. It’s a necessity!
Finally…it would be nice to have either some Dove dark chocolate or some See’s Truffles…good nutrition is always important too!
Just wondering…do you have a favorite notion?!

The Clover seam ripper is one of my favourites too, and I bought two for the same reason. That looks like a great ruler, might have to look into that.

I'm due for a new ripper, I love the looks of that handle!

My purple thang! A must have for dresden making. The perfect turning tool — along with a set of chopsticks!

I love my clover binding clips. I just started using them a few months ago, where were they all of my life!

I love the clips. I'm a diabetic and I have to take my readings each day. It's bad enough my reader requires a puncture but when my binding pins would get me I was thrilled by these clips. I have them in a ziplock round container. I've not seen a clover seam ripper before. I can't live without my small scissors that I use to cut the threads from the sewing machine, my pin cushion and a small cutting mat while I'm sewing.

I have several favorite notions: the same Clover seam ripper, same binding clips, 8.5" x 12" ruler and Dovo scissors. There are a few more but that will do for now. 🙂

Great notions Sherri! I love my binder clips too — aren't they the coolest???

I have to say I use the Purple Thing a lot, who knew such a silly looking, cheap notion would be so handy!

Yikes! Those are my 3 favorite things too. I just love her rulers and use the 9 1/2 a lot too! I just love how it's so easy to square up and trim with these rulers! My newly discovered best friend (besides the Wonder Clips which my husband has now discovered for his workshop, is Thread Heaven. I've been meaning to buy this for years and finally, finally, my thread no longer tangles! Why did I wait so long? Oh, and a new Clover leather thimble. Finally a thimble that fits and stays on!

I think the chocolates are number one in the must need department! 😀
After that a good seam ripper is essential, and a good extra light for the machine (must be my old eyes telling on me). I've yet to get those new clips for bindings, but they are on my wishlist! Oh, and I love the self threading needles to pull quilting threads to the back and tuck them in. What a time and finger and eye strain saver!

My three faves (besides chocolate, that's a must):
1. My Famore seam ripper (with surgical blade…LOVE IT!)
2. Mistyfuse
3. Karen Kay Buckley Perfect Scissors
Hands down my faves.
P.S. Those clips rock socks!

Clover Wonder Clips are the bomb! Who could not love them. I just wish I would have invented them. I will have to check out that seam ripper. I have a small one I use but that looks comfy to the hand.
Love your posts.

I have 2 clover seam rippers for the exact same reason. I need to get those binding clips.

I have a vintage silver thimble. As I use it nearly every day, it stays lovely and shiny. It doesn't make my finger smell of metal. I think that silver can kill germs and that where the old saying "born with a silver spoon in their mouth" came from. In times past rich people ate from silver as it was safer.

A seam Ripper and a Hem Gauge are AMONG my favorite tools! I use them all the time. And funny thing…the memory of these two tools.Mom taught me to sew at age 10 and I made my first skirt. Once in 7th grade I took home Ec..and on the require supplies list was a hem gauge and a seam ripper. I though Mom was going to have a heart attack! "You don't need those! You just rip the seam out with a pin and you have a yard stick and pencil. I"ve been using those all my life!" She even made me tell the teacher this to try to get out of buying them but the teacher said no, I had to have them. I still have that hem gauge after 43 years…and use it with my quilting and always have a seam ripper at my machine!

Yes to the seam ripper (but my favorite is my Bernina one that came with my machine: it's small and fits my hand well!) And sooo YES to the Dove chocolate and the See's! You'll laugh, but years ago my hubby was in South Carolina interviewing for a job, and while he was in at the company I went out with a real estate lady to look at houses: can you guess what my first question was? "Do you have See's candy out here?" Good thing he didn't get the job, cause they don't have See's out there! LOL!

I love the look of those binding clips; I currently use the ones that look more like hair clips. Must go looking for these!

My favorite notion is the Fons and Porter quarter inch ruler. It really improves accuracy when drawing a diagonal lines for half square triangles . I also agree chocolate that is an essential notion.

I LOVE SEE'S CANDIES! My favorite are the blueberry truffles, key lime pie truffles, appie pie truffles, and the scotchmallows!

I am so glad you mentioned the Clover seam rippers, they are now on my list.
As simple as this may sound, I like my pins. I have only been quilting for a few years and never used pins. Now I use them often. :o)
I *love* See's candy! I miss my beloved west coast, down here in the south they have never heard of it! sniff. Woody has ordered See's for me on special occasions. :o) I savor every little bite! Lol!

Sherri, where do you get the clover seam ripper? I've been wanting to buy some, but can't find…thanks.

I love my clover clips! Remember pinning binding!! I was lucky to find two boxes at Joanns during their 50% off sale + my 15% discount. Now I have 110! It was hard basting even a mug rug with only ten!

I love how Dove Dark chocolate candy is an essential sewing notion. Of course!
