Last week was pretty busy, but I did manage to fit in a little time on Saturday to make my Farmer’s Wife blocks. I am determined not to get behind in this quilt along, so I picked some easy blocks this week.
This is block 71, Puss in the Corner. I used some softer Fig Tree fabrics and love how this one turned out. I just hope it fits in with the other blocks.
Block 70, Prairie Queen, was fun to make as well. This one is all Strawberry Fields fabric. I think the contrast worked well on this one. I sure do learn from each block I make from this book. There is simply no better way to learn about contrast and fabric choices than to just start playing…and these blocks provide the perfect opportunity.
The Flurry collection of fabric has a lot of busy prints and some fun solids, so I get a different kind of “contrast” practice working with them.
Block 71…not so sure about this one…perhaps the solid is too strong in this block?!
I was worried that Prairie Queen (block 70) was a little bit busy. I used the solid white to hopefully give a resting place for the eyes. I’m really thinking about sashing this quilt with white. Okay…well these are last weeks blocks. After this week’s are finished I’ll have 40 and plan to do a group shot!
Thanks for stopping by!

Sherri. Your blocks look great. I love the Flurry fabric in these blocks. I think you may be right about the solid blue though, but maybe you can work it in somewhere else too. I'm so far behind I don't think I'll ever catch up.

These look great – I think I'd wait until the group shot before making any decisions and I love the way you fussy cut the centre of #71!

I love all your blocks. You are just amazing!!! I wish I could copy you. One day – right now my MS is really playing up in my arms and hands so quilting is out for right now. But hopefully soon.

Hi Sherri,
Wow…you are really coming along with the Farmers Wife quilt squares. I have the book but have not started. I have been working on quilts for my Mom and Dad for Christmas. Also I had to make a few baby gifts. I love your color ways so pretty!

I am sure you can find a way to work in the blue. I am two weeks behind. Got 1/2 block done. Oh well. I need to get some projects finished so the FW blocks will have to wait.

They all look fantastic! I'm probably going to start this project in the new few months (if I can hold out that long)!

I'm loving the blue in block 71 🙂 but of course it would all depends if the rest of the quilt can accommodate it.

I also really loved your yellow/brown quilt with the Lily & Will fabric, it was so soft and beautiful. Actually, I love everything you make! Best regards
