Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about how much quilting enriches my life. I just have to start out by saying how grateful I am for my Mom and for my Grandmothers who sewed and quilted and who always encouraged me to sew as well. Quilting enriches my life in so many ways…and I need to say thank you as well to all of my quilty, creative friends and the quilt, stitching and craft bloggers out there who inspire me every day!
Just last Friday I found out that I won a giveaway from the Missouri Star Quilt Company. Their blog is a must-see; they have a terrific web-store that has great specials, a great blog, and even tutorials! Iwas so surprised to receive my gifts in Monday’s mail…the April 2009 edition of American Patchwork and Quilting along with a Jelly Roll and a Layer Cake of April Cornell’s Nature’s Chorus by Moda! Of course you know I love all things Moda…and this fabric is no exception…it’s gorgeous…and I have a quilt already in mind for it!
This weekend was another basketball tournament weekend for our family…but luckily I had a lot of handwork prepped and ready to take with me. I finished Block three of “A Christmas Wish” from Gail Pan’s great block of the month which posted just an hour before I left town!
And…here’s a giveaway you might want to check out if you love selvedges like I do…have you seen the giveaway at ModaLissa’s? Two lucky winners will receive a gift bag with Moda selvedges. I’m entering for sure…but you don’t have to if you don’t want to…really!

Bonnie Miles would be so proud of you for making a free quilt out of left over pieces. Have you ever taken her class on free quilts? I bought ribbon yesterday for Nanette’s dresses. They keep calling me to start, but they will have to wait until I finish a few more things.

You! Why didn’t I think of that? What a fabulous idea. Pinwheels from the triangles. I guess I was so focused on the goal I missed the byway. I’m very proud of you for NOT missing that opportunity. You are right. Quilting is such a huge part of creative enjoyment I would be really another person without it. I guess that is why I dedicated my blog to my mom. I would be nothing without her. I know she sees me and is proud. That is very important to me. Now you are getting me tearing up! Moms and grandmothers are so important and our relationship with them goes on. Thank heavens we know that.
Good for you – you winner! I love that. Ok now I have 2 places to go visit after reading your blog. I want to see what is on those sites.
thanks Sherri! Love to see your dresses.

Sherri-
The quilt you are making from Nanettes pattern is SO cute- I love it. You are a girl after my own heart, I use my leftovers to make extra quilts alot and your pinwheels are darling:)

I love the little dresses, I’ve been enjoying seeing how you are going with them. It’s fantastic to see the pinwheels you’ve made from the scraps. It would have been such a waste to have thrown them away. I pulled a long two inch piece of fabric from my friends rubbish bin the other day and I’ve used a piece of it already!
Susan says
Thanks for visiting today. I have been inspired already and what a great idea to use the cut off pieces. My All Dressed Up is still in its beginning.
