Finally found the courage to cut into my little stash of Katie Jump Rope…made a few of my favorite blocks…flying geese!
Sewing a little bit more with some Fresh Cottons goodness…
And…I’ve been doing a little reading! I love this fun quilt book that really is so much more–Stitched Together: Fresh Projects and Ideas for Group Quilting. Even if you don’t have a group quilting get-together to plan, this is a wonderful resource with ideas, recipes, and great quilting projects of all sizes ( I really want to make a wallhanging, table runner, and notebook cover from this book).
Some novel-reading going on here too…I’ve been a Sandra Dallas fan since reading The Persian Pickle Club a few years ago and recently read Prayers for Sale (Reading Group Gold). Prayers for Sale is a great summer read–interesting characters, a story-line that you’re immediately drawn to, and lots of talk of quilting! Well…back to sewing…it’s too hot here to even think of going outside…have a great day!

I just love the bright fabrics of Katie Jump Rope, combined with white.

At a quick glance, I thought the flying geese were funky Christmas trees and I really liked them. But I like them as flying geese too! Love the hexies and the Fresh Cottons too!

Cute Geese…I'm looking forward to updates on these.
Great work on your tumblers.
I don't know yet if I want to make this quilt of the club…I wasn't in love with it when I saw it…hmmmm…maybe it's because of the pattern picture…the colors don't look the same as the real fabrics…
Have a fabulous weekend,
Julia

What are you going to do with your hexagons? Do you have a particular pattern in mind, or will you just put them all together?
a little bit biased says
The book by Jill Finley is great and I even got a little choked up reading the forward. She definitely has motivated me to start organizing a quilting retreat for the women in my family!
Little Lady Patchwork says
Sherri is bow down to you! You are a quilting machine :0)
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the books. I have been eyeing them. I heard that New Mercies by Sandra Dallas is a good book!
XOXO,

I am going to have a baby so you can make me a quilt. Even if I am 52. No? Fine then, I will read that book. Do you ever sit still? Watch TV without doing anything else?
Jane's Fabrics and Quilts says
I love that you have projects all over and still have time to read. I love to read. Also good for you to be able to cut into your Katie!! I have a ton that I want to make into a king quilt but still have no idea of a block! I hope it does not sit on my shelf forever!

Life is good – floating from one favorite project to another. How fun!!

I got side tracked. My favorite part of quilting is watching the project evolve. Like half way through when you have enough blocks to put up and admire and dream of the direction it is headed. Your flying geese look like crazy christmas trees laid out like that. I also have Jill's book. We have a family retreat planned at my house for next month. She inspires me.
