I have some very Blissful scraps…
I have jars of scraps…
And I have bags of scraps (if I know I have enough to make a small project, I’ll bag them up–this bag should make a nice table runner).
The squares were all scraps…2 ½″ squares that ended up making up one of my very favorite bags! So…would you like some scraps?! I’m going to have a giveaway for one small Priority Flat Rate box of my scraps. And you get to choose betweeen Modern/Bright or Traditional/Earth Tones. Just leave a comment telling me your favorite way to store/organize your scraps…and which colorway you’d like if you win. I’ll keep the comments open until Thursday and announce a winner on Friday! And be sure to follow Jodi’s blog as she shares her fun ideas for scraps!
Oh, and I’d like to send a little something to Kim from the Great Cover-Up Post for her super cute Fandango ironing board cover up…Kim, could you e-mail me your snail mail address? Have a great day!

Just stopping by to say I LOVE YOUR BAG!!! :o)

I currently store my scraps in plastic bins with lids, not sure if it my favorite way but it is working for now. I love the modern and bright fabrics! thank you!
Mary Lou Casada says
Sherri, I'm a plastic shoe-box girl, with strips cut at 1 1/2, 2, 2 1/2, 3 1/2, and 5 inches and each size stored in a different box. I used up a BUNCH of my 2 1/2" strips — and it was great!! I'm definitely a fall/earth tones gal.
Love the bag and so many of the projects on your blog!
Blessings!
Mary Lou
Sandie ~call me crazy says
My scraps are in a big red bin that would be used in the summer for ice and drinks. LOL Guess I need to get sewing on them before summer comes around. 😉 Thanks for the fun giveaway! I'd choose Traditional although I love the modern prints too. 😉
Trisha says
My scraps are sorted by color and in drawers in my sewing center. I am excited to see what Jodi has in store and hope it will get me to use my scraps. If I win, I would like the modern/bright fabric.
trish says
Oh my sweet heavens!!! I love your scraps. :o) Especially the Bliss. :o)
Ida13 says
Traditional/Earth Tones
I separate them by occassions. I mean e.g. Xmas-scraps, Eastern scraps, summer scraps…
Those scraps, which I can use each time I take into a big red plastic bin. That is all.
Terry says
I actually just cut up most of my scraps into five inch squares for Project Linus quilts. I have the rest in a tub to cut into strips for some string blocks someday. Thanks for the chance to win some of your scraps! I think I'd prefer the earth tones! :0)
Bonniedoo says
HI Sherri, I store my scraps in a similar way to Mary Lou above…1", 1 1/2", 2" and 2 1/2" strips and also squares up to charm square size….in plastic shoe boxes too. LOL
I am definitely a traditional soul and I love that bag toooooo!!!!
A Girl says
Modern/bright fabric.
I love to say I am organized, but I am not. I store stuff everywhere, but Jodi is definitely inspiring me to get organized.
Lisa says
Scraps are in a big bag right now. Eeek!
alice says
What a cute bag.
Most of my smaller scraps are in a tub. The bottom of which is divided into color and some into squares. The top is a disaster. I love modern/bright colors!
Thanks for the chance to win.

Kathleen says
Mine are mostly in clear containers, notice I said "mostly". The rest are sort of grouped by project ideas. in piles. on the floor. I'd prefer the traditional although I'd really take either. Thanks!
Lotta says
Hi,
My scraps are stored in a big brown bag until I cut them up and organize them according to size.
If I win I think I want the bright and modern colors. Or…

I love scraps! Since I'm still a slow-poke beginner, I don't have huge mountains of scraps. But I do have a drawer where I throw my scraps. Then, when it gets a bit full, I'll cut them down to more manageable sizes and stick them in a bin where I keep all my 2in squares, 3.5 inch squares and 5 inch squares. I keep odd scraps too and will use them for applique or crazy quilt blocks. I'd love to win the modern scraps, thanks for the giveaway!
gnee @ Singing With Birds says
I don't have a lot of scraps for Jodi's projects, so I'm crossing my fingers and would love your modern/ brights. I love what you do! Thanks so much for your offering. Your "scraps" look beautiful!!!!
Karin says
right now my favorite way to store scraps is in clear rubbermaid tubs. But after seeing the organizer at Pleasant Home, I want to get one of those units from target with the baskets, LOVE IT!
I love the traditional/earth tone colorways 🙂
Emily says
I am a fairly new quilter, so I don't have a lot of scraps yet, but the ones that I do have just get shoved into a plastic bin, with no organization at all. If I won, I'd love the modern/bright scraps!
Nanette Merrill and daughters says
Wednesday I'll start my scrap giveaway via jodi's idea. It should be fun.
R says
What Gorgeous scraps you have! I have ziplocks with 2" and 4" scraps, sort of by color, and abig ole clear plastic bag with the "none of the above" scraps. My fabric's neat, but my scraps are getting more random. I love the brights/moderns.
Jenni says
mine are mostly all sorted by size in clear containers. Larger scraps are all jumbled together in a large bin. I constantly use my scraps though, so I don't have a ton to choose from:) I would love the modern bright!
Erica says
My scraps are in a clear plastic "set of drawers" style organizer. I have different drawers for moderns, 30's, traditional/Civil War, Fig Tree (so many they get their own!) and solids. My dear husband is currently building me some shelves for my sewing room so I might change up my method once that is in place. I'd love to win the modern/bright themed scrap package!
Karen says
Hi Sherri! I'm a new follower via Jodi over at Pleasant Home. My "fabrics" are neatly folded on racks in hubby's office now, and all the scraps DD and I came across while reorganizing are in those cardboard banker boxes. They will be sorted then by color and put in clear containers.
So much is going on at my house at the moment, I must steal away to the computer to see what everyone else is up to for therapy!
I ♥ Tradition/Earth Tones, but your Oak Park bag is so cute, too. uhmm, I still ♥ Tradition/Earth Tones.
Thanks for the opportunity! … Karen
ps… and I love that little dish/plate your fabrics are on in your first two pics. I am also a dish-a-holic!
Barbara Ann Beamer Jones says
I have lots and lots of scraps and I love each and every one of them!! My strips are in plastic drawers, as are the squares – all organized by size. Then I have the leftovers from cutting and piecing that are all oddball sizes – two small totes (crammed full) and one large basket (half-full)that I need to sort, cut into squares or lay aside for the 10" foundation pieced crazy quilt that I work on every now and then!
Did I mention that I LOVE scraps?? I even buy more scraps off Ebay – and I would love to be entered in your giveaway for the traditional scraps! Thanks for sharing!!

I store my scraps in brown gift bags that hang on nails inside my fabric closet. Each bag has a different colorway and when I want to to something scrappy I just grab a bag! Please enter my in your drawing for modern/brights – I think they make the coolest fun scrappy designs!
Lisa says
Oh, I love scraps! I use cut and sort scraps by size and keep them in pretty labeled photo boxes.
Deep in the Heart of Happy says
I need scraps so badly…really I do. I love your scraps and THAT BAG…I LOVE that bag.
Megs says
Eeek! I LOVE that sweet bag!
I keep my large-ish scraps in a plastic storage box that I go to when I need a lining for a pouch or want to make a scrappy bee block or some such thing. Other scraps are cut either into strips (for string quilts or strip piecing), 2-1/2" squares or 1-1/2" squares (for patchwork), or teeny tiny but unbearable to part with. All are stored in their own bins with labels so I can grab what I need when I need it.
In the spirit of honesty, though, I have to admit that I also have a LOT of scraps in a basket under my cutting table because I haven't sorted through them to put in their proper place yet.
But even with all of my own scraps I want YOURS too! I'm a modern/bright kinda girl!
CJ says
My scraps are bundled up in the largest piece that is leftover from the project. Very lame and disorganized and I can't really find what I want that way. Must re-do…someday. I would choose the Modern/Bright pkg. 😀
Kate says
Hi! I've been saving my scraps in shopping bags, not for any other reason than that they were too beautiful to throw out! Now, I'm THRILLED to be able to find a great way to store and use those scraps! I'd be happy to win either set of your scraps, but I guess I'd say traditional/earth tones, for a change of pace! I've loved reading everyone's methods for storing their scraps. It's giving me plenty of food for thought! 🙂
Dorothy Thornton says
I love the bag. I organize my scraps in the 3 set rolling drawer storage. I have them seperated into strips (1-1/2, 2, 2-1/2) and squares (1-1/2, 2, 2-1/2, 3-1/2). Also in plastic boxes or kids shoe boxes i have my bigger scraps of 4-1/2, 5-1/2, 6-1/2" squares.
I am more of the Traditional/Earth type but I would love to have your modern/bright scraps to do something with to step out of the box a bit.
Mariliz's Musings says
I don't have a lot of scraps ….yet. What I do have are stored in a large wicker basket. I love the bright and colorful.
Melanie says
Right now, all my scraps are in those plastic shoe containers. I save my binding scraps too! I would love some more! I love bright, modern fabric 🙂
María Cristina says
Beautiful bag!
I am a new quilter, I have some leftover fabric that I keep in a plastic organizer separated by color.
I love the traditional gift …..
Dee says
As soon as I finish a project, I immediately cut all scraps less than a fat quarter up into the following sizes: 1", 1.5" and 2.5" strips, 2" and 5" squares and 2.5" x 4.5" bricks. I pulled out my 5" squares and made some Disappearing 9-Patch quilts for charity. The others are just 'waiting' for the right project. I wouldn't mind adding to them though and like the Modern/Bright ones.
mamabug says
I cut up any into 5 inch squares and then strip the rest into 2 1/4 inch for scrappy bindings. Would love to make a postage stamp quilt someday, but more likely it will be a child doll quilt 🙂
Jane's Fabrics and Quilts says
I store my scraps in a flat box by color (or should I say boxes)!!
Who would not love some of your scraps. I would love the modern bright. Thank you for this chance!
Janet says
I organize my scraps by colour mainly. First I remove any selvages and put them in my selvage pile. Any really tiny pieces go in my tiny pieces box which I use when making post cards or other small pieces. Anything around a foot square or larger goes into my main stash. Everything else is sorted by colour – red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, brown, tan, black and white. I also have categories for florals and multicoloured. I definitely have more blues and greens in my scraps than anything else. I'd like to get more in my "hot" colour piles, yellow, red and orange. I love your bag.
Chris@Cats On My Quilts says
I have a few fabric covered boxes I store my scraps in, usually sorted by colors. I love the Modern/Bright!
Baskets Of Quilts says
Right now I just throw scraps in a bin eventually I'll trim them into small squares or strips. I love all your modern/ bright scraps.
moramargaritaster says
I love your scrap and your wonderful bag.
PunkiePie says
I'm loving that scrap Bliss bag! Even though I don't have Bliss scraps, I DO have 8 charm packs. I think I can use one to make that bag. It is gorgeous!
How I handle my scraps? Right now I stuff them where I can. I have no scrap system what-so-ever. and I think I need one!
Ruth says
I store my scraps in a Build a Bear box that is the bear's house. These work for me! And, they are FREE when you buy a new bear there.
I'd love to win your modern scraps.
Susan says
I love your scrap ideas. I do have some organization of my scraps and then for the ones I dont know what to do with I just shove into project bags in similar color ways and the ones that havent gotten there are in a basket that is overflowing. Thanks for the giveaway and either colorway would be a treat!
NancyB85374 says
For now: I store scraps in bags, keeping the leftovers from each project separate. Doesn't seem to work very well. I would love Modern/Bright scraps. Your blog is full of great ideas. thank you
KMSC says
I store most of my scraps in a box (the kind in which reams of paper are sold). Not great but I know where my scraps are located! Also, I store scraps from UFOs in plastic bags along with the binding I've made.
I'd love to win your traditional/earth tone scraps.
Thanks for the giveaway.
Slowpoke says
I store my scraps in any container I can find. I have to be ready to move them as they are stored in the guest bed-room.
I love your bag made of the Bliss scraps and I would choose modern and bright scraps please. Thanks for the oppotunity to win some lovely scraps.
Gra says
I don´t have too many scraps but I keep them in a plastic bin. I love fall/earth colors in case you accept international readers to participate of the giveaways. If not, it is all right too!! Thanks for being so generous. I will go right now to visit Jodi. Thanks!!
Tracey says
I have some scraps, love your scraps too, will have to see what happens next i think with them, , the bag is just perfect,
I never made a bag yet,
Suzanne says
I always have a small pile of fabric that needs to be renamed Scraps. I cut it up into the largest squares or widest strips I can, then store it in boxes. When I need a scrappy fix or a charity quilt, I pull out on of the boxes.
Tiffany says
Modern and bright… love that description and it is totally mys style! I just started quilting this past summer but I have scraps from each project I make bagged up. I end up giving most of my projects away so other than just pictures and scraps I wanted to make a way to remember each project. SO… I decided to make a string quilt with each patch using scraps from a specific project I have made. That way every square will have scraps reminding me of a special project I made for a special person. Uses up my scraps and gives me a great momento in the end 🙂
Jorie says
I NEED a better way to store my scraps. Right now my smaller scraps are in baggies, organized by size, and the rest are just in a cabinet sort of lumped together. :/ I need to get them a bit more under control, but when I get my Go! I plan on trimming them all down!
Lynn says
Oooh modern/bright scraps!! I am getting bad with storing my scraps, I love buying baskets, jars, tins, boxes, cookie jars for them. It's almost as bad as my fabric buying problem. My favorite is an antique candy jar, oh and my monkey cookie jar, and of course my mothers old cookie jar, that one I love.
Little Miss Shabby says
I love scraps–plus they keep my girlies entertained while I sew! =) Right now I have them in a huge longaberger basket. And I would choose modern/bright scraps if I had a choice. =)
Tracey says
I forgot to say all my scraps are added to a tray just in a handy place right under my sewing table, and got other trays for medium fabric too,
I so much want to make a bag now with these scraps,
epban says
My scraps are in color coded drawers of several plastic rolling carts. Would love to win the modern and bright scraps. Thanks for the chance!
Vroomans' Quilts says
My daughter gave me the neatest storage containers – empty clear plastic snack/treat barrels. They are 9" high and 9" across – fit perfectly on my shelf and being clear, those lovely colors show thru. While I teach her the basics and traditions of quilting, she's teaching me to love working with colors/brights/moderns.
Diane says
I love your bag! I don't have many scraps…the ones I have are in a basket with a lid…no one knows they are in there, but me! If I win your giveaway…I would like the Modern/Bright!
Mikelle says
I definitely need a better way to organize scraps…they are all in big plastic bags right now!
I would love the modern/bright scraps!

Yikes. I store my scraps in a large bushel basket, very unorganized. I surely need to get them organized. I would love to have someone elses scraps to brighten my stash up.
jle819 says
I'm only just starting out with sewing/quilting, and I love it! But I don't have much by way of scraps and stash, so I don't have much to organize just yet. I do have a few of those clear plastic drawers that stack, and they are tucked under the table I do my sewing on. I'm currently making a twin sized quilt for my daughter, it's very bright, so I would love to win some earth tones! But really, I'd loe to win ANYTHING! Thanks so much for the giveaway, I am gonna go cross my fingers! (And toes!) LoL Jody Edwards – jody.edwards@yahoo.com
Aleisha says
Right now I have bags of scraps that I working on cutting into different size squares. I don't have anything to store them in yet, but I'm working on it.
I just wanted to say that I love that patchwork bag at the end of your post!
Melissa Corry says
Currently I store my scraps in gallon size bags sorted by color. Then I put all of the bags in a plastic tote. I wish I had better storage but my space is pretty limited so this works for now. We move in a year and I am hoping to upgrade my scrap storage space 🙂
I would love Bright and Modern! So fun, thanks for giving!
Elin says
You have a very nice blog, and you are indeed very well organized!
Wendy says
Mine are all crammed in plastic totes, but I am open to suggestions to a better way. Every time I want one I am tossing it on the floor and hunting through them. Makes for slow progress on a project! I would still love yours though so count me in please!
Bonnie says
scrap strips flung all over the studio
squares piled high on the cutting table and sewing machine…
half square triangles hanging off the lights…. no honestly not the above…
strips in drawers by size. triangles in a bag that is about to over flow and in a tin and in a plastic box. Squares in several boxes. Hum, not very organized I guess! But they do get looked at when I need fabs.
So, I would love to add the moderns to my old, out of date scraps. And, could you come over and organize me better too?
Thanks for the give away….
Cheri says
It seems like I have scraps all over! I try to store them according to color in plasic drawers. Would sure like to use them all up. I love the bright modern colors. Thanks for the giveaway.
Lexilooo says
I keep all of my scraps in a big basket, but they are far from organized! Someday, when I have more space 🙂
Petit Design Co. says
i found $2 canvas bins at walmart on clearance. I bought 8 just for my fabric scraps!
I'd love the bright scraps if I am chosen
Gari says
My scraps initially go into a wicker basket. When the basket is full I sort, and cut, into strips a la Bonnie Hunter. I also have a drawer of left over binding that eventually go onto a comfort quilt. I also have applique scraps that already have fusible on it and that is kept in a plastic zip bag. I love modern/bright.bitio
Béa says
I have a basket for all sizes strips and sort my scraps by colours and precut shapes in boxes.
Thanks for the chance to win !

Sadly, I have no good organization scheme for my scraps–although I definitely need one! I'd love some modern/bright scraps to brighten up my collection 🙂
free indeed says
I'm working away on my scraps. I joined a block lotto where we can make up to 9 blocks a month following the guidelines for that month…I get to use up scraps and sometimes win finished blocks tomake a quilt. I have my strings in a seperate container, and I have yet to get my crumbs into a container of their own. Same with triangles. Then the larger pieces will go into an apple core or triple irish chain quilt…that's the plan for the scraps anyway.
I'll ask for brights modern since that isn't my style and I can round up some interest in these scrap quilts with bursts of color.
Mary says
Um, I keep my scraps in a small plastic grocery bag. I'm new to this hobby. My craft is currently chaos at the side of my bed. I love Bright and Modern. Thanks for giving!
Kasey says
I store my scraps in designated plastic shoe boxes, from 1.5" to 3.5" strips, and one for "shapes" which is basically a catch-all for all leftover squares and triangles. But the crumbs all go in a purple fabric bag… makes it more fun to dig through since it's always a surprise what's at the bottom.
And I (almost) always choose BRIGHT over earth tones… 🙂
Marci says
Wow! Just found this site & already I'm lovin' it! I'm new to quilting so my scraps are in a giant ziploc bag. I would love either collection. Thanks so much for your generous give away!

As of right now I keep my scraps in a tote. I would love to reorganize them in to a better mess, ha,ha! But I just keep starting on new projects. While I am working on a specific project I keep everthing in a small handled basket.
If I was lucky enough to win your scraps. I would have to go with reds/pinks. My absolute favorite.
I have to say that I love your bag. Is this your own pattern and design? I am currently going to college as one of my many adventures. I wish that I could find a bigger version of your bag for my books. Something that says me, and not the run of the mill, young kid bag. Thanks for sharing your adventures and your scraps.
Kathleen Grace says
My current way of storing scraps is in clear plastic shoe boxes by color. I'm hoping that Jodi's ideas for scrap projects will empty those boxes out and I will get something beautiful to take their place:>) I would love the bright/modern scraps!
Robin (rsislandcrafts) says
I'm all about the brights 🙂
Your bag is gorgeous! I love the glass with the scraps. Quilters seem to enjoy decorating with scraps.
Are we supposed to be organized with our scraps? I've been working on organizing the sewing room lately. I have my strings in a container. My small (less than 3X3) pieces in another shoe box style container. The rest….everywhere lol.
Annette says
I keep my scraps in stacking bins by color. And the ones too tiny to use but too pretty to toss goes in a huge glass jar so I can still enjoy them. And I do. I am fall person but I love all scraps.
Miss White Wall says
Oh I love your scraps, they are so pretty. I can't believe all of the binding scraps you have, I can only imagine all of the quilts those scraps came from! So very pretty.
Needled Mom says
I organize my scraps by color first (in plastic bins). I am never really happy because I think they should be sub organized into lines, etc., but haven't figured out a way to do that yet.
I love the Kate scraps. Very pretty.
Becky says
I'd love to say I have a great system but really I have a mess. I have a plastic bin sorted by color, then pile of coordinated fabric lines that are scraps. Somehow I can't bare to break them up!
If I won, I'd love the modern/bright scraps.
That's a fantastic bag!!!
Cindy says
I wish I had a good way to organize my scraps! They're really just tucked in with folded fabric by color.
Kelly O. says
as far as scraps go, I have next to nothing. so far I don't even have a diaper box full, but regardless, they are not well organized.
I need to work on it but my scraps are small in size. so it's not like I can even fold them to keep them in order.
I think I should start by colour coding but have trouble as really, what colour is the dominant colour? sometimes it's tough to say….
Mary says
My scraps are sorted by color in plastic lidded containers as well as some specialty containers which have things like kids' novelty, Christams, homespuns, etc.
What a lovely giveaway! I would be tickled pink to win either colorway as I love to sew with both.
Love the bag!
carolinehemsley says
Hi. I'm afraid I am currently re organising my scraps. I have a bag which I throw them all in while I am working on a project. Then periodically I go through the bag and sort them into 2" squares, 1and 1/2" strips and 2" strips. Anything bigger than that goes back in my top fabric draw to be used for applique. This works for me as I haven't got a great deal of scraps – yet!!! Thanks for the giveaway I would love the bright and modern if I'm lucky enough to win. c

It's horrible, but I just toss all my scraps in a bag. Then when I need something I rummage around and iron whatever wrinkled scrap I chose.
I'd choose the bright and modern scraps. Thanks for the chance to win! ambernoel226 at gmail dot com

I have a wonderful old german sewing basket that my quilting friends gave me. It is perfect for holding scraps that are not designated for any special quilt. I would love to add some of those fabrics to some of your modern/bright fabrics to start a scrap quilt from one of Jodi's patterns.
Stray Stitches says
My scraps tend to roam the house at their leisure. Once they are all collected, they reside in ziploc bags according to color. I would love the traditional/earthtones as I'm finally starting to use some 4" scraps in those tones to make a scrappy quilt.
Carol in E TN says
I have a pink bucket from Hobby Lobby that I throw my scraps in. I keep it close to the cutting table and it is always accessible.
Should I win the scraps I would choose the modern and bright.
Linda (Sewfordough) says
My small scraps are in a small box and my big scraps are in piles in my cupboards!
If I win, I'd love the modern/bright colorway. Thank you so much!
Rosie says
I haven't nearly as much in scraps as I have in fat quarters, being a fairly new quilter; however, I have a good system for particular leftovers. I scrub out and use the large 48 ounce red plastic Folgers coffee containers (the ones that make 380 cups) and in each I store binding scraps, jellyroll scraps, and charms. I am partial to Modern/Bright fabric.
Kathy H says
I keep my scraps in plastic drawer sets, i have them labeled by color and also by season. I would love to use the traditional colors. Just visited a cousin and her house is all traditonal colors. I love the bag you made.
Martha says
I store my scraps in ziplock plastic bags. I don't have time to cut scraps up until I use them in a project. I love both modern and traditional so I will gladly take whatever you have left over.

I store my scraps in recycled salad bins with lids (the plastic bins you can buy various lettuce and greens in). Sort by color and the bins stack neatly – plus, I usually always have a new empty bin each week (OK that may not be a good thing). Love modern and bright!
Karen says
That's a beautiful bag! My cheap fabric scraps are kept in 3-drawer plastic units that roll under my cutting table. Since I'm just starting to buy quilter's cottons, I keep those scraps all together in ziploc bags with the project. I try to use up every last bit of those and not waste anything. I'm just starting a traditional quilt in earthtones, so I'd love to have any of those scraps. Thanks for the chance to win!
SG says
I don't have many scraps and the ones I have are stored in a little box! I love bright colors! thanks for sharing!

I have separate plastic containers for strip pieces and one for more square/rectangle pieces. Works for me.
I would LOVE to win the Modern/Bright group…thanks for sharing!
Susan says
I love both kinds of fabrics, but now that it's finally Fall, I would have to "fall for" some earth-tones!
Jenny says
bright modern would be my pick, but i need to read thru your comments on storing scraps because my sister is the pits! i have a few shoe boxes, a few baskets and misc. piles all around of scraps. NOT ideal!! thanks for a chance! i have some ideas brewing for using up lots of 2.5 in squares!!

Those are some great scraps! Love the bag. I keep my binding scraps on old antique spools. Sort of fun. Thanks for the link. I'll have to hop on over there and check it out!

My scraps are in a large plastic tote in the front of my storage unit. We are living in a very small house for about a year, so I don't have room here in the house. The storage unit is just 1/4 mile away and I visit it weekly! Someday, I will organize it (when I get a real house!!) Thanks for the chance to win – I would love your bright and modern scraps (make that LOVE!!)

Mine are in drawers, but that is boring and not functional. I like your big glass jar idea, and I have a couple of jars I could use! I'd choose Modern Bright. Thank You for the chance to win some…
BeachQuilter says
I'd love to get Traditional/Earth tone scraps! I currently have plastic bins for storage but they just aren't big enough!
Cynthia says
I love scraps. Scraps in the morning, scraps in the evening, scraps all the time. I currently store them in open bins that runnth over. I have to find a better way for storage, but one that works even when you are working on many projects at one time. I also store them in plastic storage cabinets, but the size is just not right and I feel it is wasted space. Tradional Earth Tones sounds like ohhh ahhh, I can make a quilt for men rather than women and kids.
Jantine says
I store my scraps in plastic boxes marked with the size in it. It works great for all those little projects you want to do quick… I came form the warm colors and am going toward the brighter ones, but not very many scraps yet… So I could use some for some very fun scrap quilt in brights!
Patty says
your bag is darling, I would like the modern/bright scraps…..my scraps are pretty much not organized yet… i need to find a way that will work for me

Hi Sherri, I have plastic labeled boxes for larger scraps but I like to keep smaller and newer scraps in big glass cookie jars, I just love the look of them in my sewing room. I'm really getting into modern, bright and breezy this year. Thanks for the chance to win…

I'm afraid I'm not very organized with my scraps. I'd like to be, but it's such a daunting task, I have so many. I do try to keep 2 1/2 & 1/1/2 strips seperate since I am collecting those, but the rest tend to just fall into one of my big plastic bins that I get from Target.
Tammy Jones says
I have a big, giant basket that stores most of my cutting scraps (strips, bits, and snipped-off triangle leftovers) which I use a LOT when I'm paper piecing scrappy things, and when I need just a little of this or that and don't need to cut up yardage. I have stacks of color-coded fat quarters and 'foldable' scraps in my closet, and I keep sorted-by-project-to-do scraps in ziplock bags. Hmm… I really need to make something with those blue and yellows I've been collecting. 😉
Dawn says
Scraps from your collection… oh so yummy… would love a chance to win some…Love that Bag!

My scraps are a big mess…it's on my project list…to clean them up. Right now they are in a big bin, in no order! I would love to win and I want the modern/brights too!
Trudi says
Mine are stored by size in boxes and anything too small goes in a bag. Selvedges in a separate bag. When my bag of small bits is full I give them to a freind. The rest gets used! Would love some bright modern scraps, they'd compliment my own eclectic collection I'm sure! Fab Blissful bag!
Malmbergs says
Most of my scraps are in bags in my sewing closet – sorted by color.
Would love your bright scraps.

I don't have a lot of scraps since I'm a new sewer… they're all in one bin. I would LOVE to win some of your gorgeous scraps! The red ones would be great for a red quilt I'm hoping to make someday.. or yellow/orange scraps would be awesome too! 🙂
Paula says
I am a new sewer too so I don't have many scraps yet. I'm storing them in a plastic box grouped by color but I'm looking for a better solution. I love that bag, it's beautiful!

I store my scraps in plastic shoe boxes also. I'm excited to see what Jodi has for us to do with them. I love your bag and the bliss fabrics. I think I'd go for the modern/brights.

I love to sort my fabric scraps by size in small containers/jars, but sometimes I have an idea for my scraps and put them in a different bit with a sketch on it. Would love the modern/bright scraps it's eye candy to me 🙂

Yummy post Sherri! I had a mass decluttering expedition this past Spring but I still keep some of my lovely scraps to repurpose in a large willow basket.

Thanks for the chance!
The Pink Fawn says
Your bliss bag is adorable! I keep my scraps sorted by size in zip lock bags & then placed into fabric bins on my shelves.
Dana says
I love that bag! Right now I don't have a favorite way to store my scraps because they are in a big plastic bin.. all together and scrambled. 🙁 I have enjoyed these "scrappy" posts because I've seen some great ideas. I am leaning toward sorting by color or theme, but I've yet to decide what to put them in. Thanks for a chance to win! I would love the modern/bright.
Karen says
I love the bag too…..seems like everyone does!
I have tons of storage …..a tub for the really scrappy scraps…strips, bits & pieces. Fat Quarters and portions thereof in baskets on a shelf, an over-the door "shoe storage pocket thing" which has even more FQs and shoe box sized plastic boxes, among others.
But, my sewing room is a mess as I've been pawing through the scraps and other pieces…trying to finish blocks for a string quilt before getting right down to the reorganization.
If I were to win scraps from you, I wouldn't be picky! Either would be fine. Whatever….they'd be sure to spruce up my leftovers.
Thanks for doing this giveaway!

I love scraps and thanks for this giveaway. I store mine in ziplocks that are then stored in a plastic storage container. I'm usually a modern/bright kind of fabric gal, but I'd love whatever those Kate Spain scraps fall into (and do I spy some Verna as well?). Thanks for the chance to win!

I store my scraps in a plastic drawer thing…definitely not working for me but I haven't found something that has yet.
I would love the traditional/earth tone colorway! That is what my whole downstairs is done in 🙂
Thank you!

Hmmm….modern/bright would probably include bliss? Hope so! I love bliss! My organizational system for scraps is simple. I cram them into a dresser drawer. I think I need to come up with a better system.
Mary on Lake Pulaski says
My scraps are in a plastic bin – some cut into 2 1/2 squares – not a very effective method.
I would love the modern/bright (City Park) kind of scraps if I would be so lucky!

Sadly I just put my scraps in a plastic bin… I don't have so many that I need to sort them yet. Trying to modify that by FINISHING some things so I can throw scraps into the bin! Would love a chance for earth-tone style :o)

I store my scraps folded up by color in a pie safe…and to honest some have overflowed into a dresser in yet another room. I love all fabric…..however your modern scraps will make me come out of my comfort zone. I think I need that right now. I so very much enjoy your blog.
Jackie says
I'd love a chance to win the modern scraps. I'd like to get more into modern quilting.
I store my scraps by size only. I guess I should get in there and sort by color too. It makes sense to do it that way…
Becky says
I love scraps especially other people's scraps. I keep my scraps in a large plastic container. Occasionally, I cut them into strips by width and put them into containers by their width. Take care!

Your scraps + my scraps = heaven!!
I organize my small scraps by color family in drawers from an old DMC floss cabinet. Larger ones aren't sorted too well right now!
Thanks for a great giveaway!

Thanks for the chance to win some beautiful scraps…I think I would pick the traditional. I used to toss all my scraps in a big plastic bucket (used to hold my kids toys). I just recently spent a bunch of time cutting everything into 10", 5", and 2 1/2" strips. My cupboard looks so nice, now, and I'm ready for Jodi's scrap event!

Anna @ Fresh Dew Drops says
Love your scrap bag! I don't have a scrap organization system to share because I don't have enough to store yet, just one small shoebox is about all. So, I would love some scraps. I like bright and cheerful like Bliss or Verna or Fandango or warm earthy/traditional colors. I'm not particular : )
Sarah Craig says
Hi, Sherri! Ideally, any fabric I have less than a yard of is cut into half yards, fat quarters, 5" strips, 2 1/2", 2", or 1 1/2" strips, then anything that can't be cut into strips is cut into 2 1/2", 4 1/2" or 5" blocks. Unfortunately, too much fabric passes through my hands because of the quilt ministry to deal with it all as it comes, so I have four large color coded plastic bins and the scraps are sorted into them by color; I then cut them down as I have time! But at least I can find a piece if I need it!
And I love the bright/modern scraps – I've got lots of earth tomes right now…..
JoAnn says
Hi there – if I don't stop finding such great "quilting" websites I'll never get started on my own quilt! I would love a chance to win your scraps – especially the bright ones!

I'm still strugling with trying to find how to store my scraps! I guess my one favorite and easy way it to put scraps from each project in a ziplock bag. Keeps matching pieces together and easy to grab when you need to. I have plastic shoe box drawers in a book cabinet and then stuff stuffed anywhere I can! BUT… I can always use more earth tone stuff! Thanks

Organizing scraps by type works for me. Brights, reproduction, 30's etc… I'm not fussy on the scraps of yours. Either would be fine!!
Deborah says
I store my scraps in clear plastic containers. I'm trying to sort them by color, but sometimes that doesn't always work out. I have a basket that I keep my FQs in – just to have something "pretty" sitting around. I like the Tradition/Earth Tones, but would be happy with any colors.
Shiree says
what a scraptacular cute bag, it is gorgeous! Marvellous to be made from scraps, well done you!!
Cheryl says
My scraps were sorted by color and kept in 2 drawers. They were always getting mixed up, so I bought 6 plastic containers with lids. Now each color has its own bin and will be easier to find. (A couple of the bins have more than 1 color in it.) I would love to win the traditional/earth tone scraps. Thanks for a great give-away.

Oh I love your scraps! I have my in plastic tubs right now….and, I was thrilled to see that you save all of the extra pieces of binding! I do that too because I just can't bear to throw them away. 😉 Having a blast with "Sew Scraps Along"!

Think that if I win, will go with traditional/earth tones as feel rather fallish. As a newbie quilter, do not have many of my own scraps. So, let me tell you how I organized my mother's scraps. This began about 5 years ago and the method has withstood the test of time. I sorted out all of her scraps and some yardage. Some scraps stored are not suitable for typical quilting. (Uncut special yardage and FQs she squirrels away in secret places.) I pressed and folded whatever fabric needed it, and sorted by colors. We stored the larger groups (blues, greens, reds, white/biege, aqua/turq, yellow/purple) in very large shallow clear plastic storage boxes with locking lids. I put a large piece of cardstock around all 4 edges inside each storage box with the color(s). With shallow boxes we can more easily see what is inside and keep things neat. Smaller scrap collections are kept in small clear sweater boxes with locking tops (orange, pinks, browns). Spare cut pieces are in clear plastic shoe boxes in small baggies(triangles in one box, squares another, and misc). One day my mother wants to make a denim quilt and a crazy quilt. These scraps are in paper boxes labeled as such – way on the top shelf with the polyester knits. Originally my mother had a customized large "sewing closet" with her machine, tools, notions, fabric, etc. We moved and now use the hall linen closet that has a closet maid system to accomodate her scraps. If she got rid of everything but 100% cotton quilting fabric, her scraps would be half the size. Believe me, after decades of quilting, she knows what she has in those boxes!
Kim G says
I love your Oak Park bag with Bliss! I have made a couple of those bags and love them. I would choose the modern/bright selection of scraps, but I would be happy with either. I don't have many scraps yet, cause I seem afraid to cut into the fat quarters, or layer cakes, thinking I will want to use them for another pattern!! Better get to cutting so I can have scraps!!
Patchwork and Play says
Already playing along with Jodi so I probably don't NEED more scraps but I would love the modern/brights colorway! I use plastic tubes for scraps and shoe boxes for on-going projects! Oh I love your blog and have been a follower for ages1
Kim says
Organize scraps? You're really suppose to do that! Well when I do I put them in ziploc bags according to color. If I win I love the traditional/earthtones. Thanks for such a wonderful blog!
Rachel says
My scraps aren't nearly as organized as yours. Your scraps are so pretty! I keep all of mine in a big Rubbermaid container. I should at least colour-code them…
Love the bag!

Oh, how I would love to receive a box of scraps in my mailbox. I am known as the scrap queen in my small quilting group so this giveaway is perfect for me. I would love the brights but yet the traditional would fit in with my scraps. I guess I would like to be surprised. Thanks for the great giveaway.

Love your bag! I would love to win the bright scraps! I don't have a great system for storing scraps – right now I keep them in a bag and use them to sew onto notecards to make fun patterns, but I'm inspired by you!

Scrappy quilts/projects are so much fun. If you're like me, it's fun to remember the project you first made with all those fabrics that are now scraps. What great inspiration your scrap ideas are!! If I were to be the blessed one to receive your scraps, I like the modern/brights. Hope you'll visit me sometime at Just Beecuzz Quilting Buzz sometime. Merritt

I have my scraps in boxes of but they are in serious need of organization- Though I do have trays with 1 1/2 inch fabrics and another with 2 inch strips – Some day I am going to have them more organized- I do have fat quarters in fat quarter boxes and colors sorted together as well as some theme boxes. Ah the joys of making sorting rules for fabric..
I think I would like the Earth tones if I am the lucky winner.
Warmest regards,

How wonderful! I would love to take home some of your Modern/Bright scraps. Right now I keep all of my scraps in an easy to reach basket on a shelf…and whenever I'm at my sewing machine my daughter asks to pull it out, and she sits on the floor and plays with all of my buttons, thimbles and other fun fabric 'stuff'. 🙂
She's only 3 1/2 and she wants a little pink sewing machine for Christmas so she can sew fabric like mom.
Thanks for the wonderful giveaway.

Hello 🙂 I'm popping over from Jodi's blog and I just have to say that I LOVE your bag 🙂 Hmm, I try to keep all of my different colors sorted in fabric buckets that I make but quite often I find them all jumbled into a heap on my cutting room floor where I sort of sift through them like a crazy woman! LOL. Definitely not the most organized person as you can see *grin*. Thanks for the chance to win some of your scraps and I would love the modern/bright colors if I'm the lucky one 🙂

I was so drooling over your scraps!! I actually use a couple of 12×12 scrapbook storage cases…I don't have very many scraps though 🙁 so your addition would be greatly welcomed!! 🙂

I'm storing all my scraps in a giant gift bag that I bought in some mall or another because I thought it was so pretty. I kind of color code my scraps into piles and have them organized inside the bag (did I say it was really large?) so when I need scraps of a particular colorway, I don't have to empty the entire bag.
Penny says
I have a hundred fifty ways to store my scraps. Just when I think I've come upon the perfect solution, I get another grand idea or run out of room in the clever storage space I'm using. So I invent another way. Truthfully, most of my scraps are in piles: cut small, cut large and uncut small and large.
I really like the bright colors as opposed to the earth tones. Take care.
Miranda says
Gorgeous bag! I will most definitely have to get that pattern. I don't actually have a lot of scraps as I am still quite new to the quilting world but I like to store them in the pretty glass jars with the glass lids. I love modern and bright colours too. Thanks for the chance, crossing my fingers!
julia says
Hi Sherri!
I LOVE your Oak Park bag, it's divine! Even better because you used up some of oyur Bliss scraps! And *squeal*: you're one of Kate Spain's chosen stunt sewers??? How cool is that?
Love your binding box…! I've always re-pressed the strips open and sorted them into my scrap boxes…but I think it's so handy to have ready made scrappy bindings for a scrappy quilt…
Until now I've collected the left over Charm Squares (from the Schnibbles projects) in a bag to make Tuffets when I need some quick gifts ;).
How I organize my scraps:
– big pieces are put away into my stash (yes, a piece about the size of a Layer Cake is still big enough)…mostly sorted by collection if I have many pieces left, if not, then by style & color
– smaller pieces are cut up to squares (in 1/2" increments down to 1 1/2" squares) and stored in zip lock bags in a bigger container
– even smaller strips (1" and 3/4") are sorted by value (?; I mean light/med/dark) for log cabin blocks…(those IKEA tea bag containers are perfect for these!).
Lilly says
I store my scraps in box and separate them by color.
Thanks for the chance. And I choose Modern/Bright colors.
Carol says
Sherri…you have the BEST scraps! love them in the jars.

My scraps are organized by color somewhat.
Bluzbrod says
Great ideas here! I don't even cut down my scraps until I need a particular size. On top of each pile of fabrics that are sorted by color or florals or batiks or 30s, etc., I have a small plastic tray. I just keep the small pieces in the tray until I need certain colors or themes, then I cut them up. Since I applique some, I'd be wasting my time cutting them into strips or squares. I've been using scraps lately to make fabric bowls, they are such fun to make, and use up those odd pieces. Uglies make the prettiest bowls!
Love those modern/bright fabrics.
Brenda says
I forgot to tell you what colorway I would like to win. I would like the traditional/earthtones though I would be happy with any!:)

Thanks for the chance to win these wonderful scraps I do favor the modern/Bright. I don't have many scraps I could use for a project like this. What scraps I have I store in a plastic drawer bin. Although I love Jodi's idea and her plastic boxes.
Just Amy says
My current method of storing scraps? WELL…lol It depends upon the SIZE of the scrap. Big portions of scrap currently go into a small plastic bin with a lid, under my table. As I'm cutting, if I get a scrap that seems too small to do anything with (if there is such a thing), I toss it into a little duckie pop-up container that used to store toys for my babies. (what!? I'm recycling!) These are eventually going to be used for a crazy quilt…HOWEVER, I am in the planning stages of re-vamping the storage process. Probably going to further organize into colors…maybe.
Check me out on http://www.simplyme.blogspot.com. I will eventually have a quilt-a-long on there.

I would love some of your Traditional/Earth Tone scraps! My scraps are stored in baskets…no special order or color – when one basket is full I start filling the next one 🙂 Many blessings, Dawn

I'd pick bright this round, just because I have too many darker ones right now. I love to sew with scraps because the final product, no matter how carefully planned, has a spontaneous feel that makes me happy. Thanks for the chance.

Hahaha, storing scraps. Mine are sitting on my countertop in a heap. I am kind of new to the scrap thing – I can't wait to make something "scrappy" though.

Right now I am in serious need of some organizational help with my scraps. I have one tub for 2.5" strips and another tub for 5" strips and everything else is strewn all over the sewing room. I would like the Modern/Brights!!
Shirley says
What a darling tote bag! I keep my scraps in a clear bin. I prefer the Modern/Bright colors if I should be so lucky to win. I still remember that my mother kept even the tiniest of scrap strips in paper grocery sacks below her sewing machine. She would make strip/string quilts paperpieced with old news print as foundation – was always amazed that she would sew even the teeniest strips into those blocks and then square them up to put in the quilt. I still can't toss out little bitty scraps to this day!
Thanks
Melanie says
I just love your Bliss bag! If I should be lucky enough to win I would love the modern/bright colorway! I am still pretty new to quilting, so I just store my scraps in a shopping bag. Not very organized, but it works for now. Thanks!
JayTee says
Love the brights…
i have several sizes of the plastic containers, some are shoebox size, some slightly larger, & for batting and large fabric pieces that one day may be backs, the large plastic bins.
Kelly says
I LOVE that Bliss bag! What a great use of scraps! I cram all my scraps into a too small tub. 🙂 I just hate to throw them out! I pull from my scrab bin all the time and I'm always grateful I didn't throw that last little piece out. I'd love the Modern/Bright scraps!
muffinandme says
As I am sewing a project I like to have a box or other container to store scraps as they "happen". Then at the end of each day they get stored in a ziplock bag sized according to the amount of scraps. At the end of that project the collected scraps go into permanent storage in a large plastic container. I try to sort them into colour groups and some other such as Christmas, Floral etc. I used to keep them in separate containers for each colour group but at the moment we are living in a pocket sized cottage so space and storage are definitely issues.

Your scraps look fantastic! I love scraps and hoard then in colours in small plastic bags for applique, larger bags of similar colours or fabrics that I've used in a project so I know they "go" together. And I make Scrap Quilts. I'm currently following Pleasant Home & intend to make a Baby quilt using her idea. So, please count me in for your Giveaway!

I store my scraps in one of a set of Pink suitcases that I have stacked in my sewing room. One contains paper crafting items and the other contains my fabrics and stitchery "stuff".
Irina says
Hello! my favourite way to store them is by using resealable frezzing bags. So I can see them and keep them clean.
Nathalie says
I am halfway organized. Some scraps are cut up and stored by sizes and the larger chunks are just thrown into a plastic tub. I need to organize those. I like the bright and modern.
Chelley says
What a wonderful giveaway! I LOVE scraps! I store mine in glass candy jars with lids sorted by colors. Like you, if I have enough for a project, I'll bag them up together.

I don't have much scraps – whatever I have are in small bags; not YET organized @_@! I always love to see them in small transparent bins.
I'd love some modern/bright fabrics!
Thanks for the chance.

Oooo I love your scraps! I'd love to win a modern/bright bunch. (If you ship to Canada?) I store my scraps in clear plastic tubs without lids. I sort them by color and have them sitting out in the open on my shelf. This helps me clean up better because it makes it so easy to just throw small pieces in as I'm cutting.
Lee says
I have my scraps (new quilter so not too many) in recycled boxes by colors. Oh I have some in small basekets and jars too!

I don't have many scraps to speak of at the moment. I'm new to sewing and quilting. That's why I'm so excited at the prospect of winning some scraps from all the talented ladies hosting giveaways this week!! The fabric I do have, and all the pieces of clothing I intend to upcycle are in a tote bag hanging off the back of one of my kitchen chairs, LOL!
If I won, I would choose the modern/bright colorway. My email is razberiswrl@gmail.com

Oh I'll definitely go check out that blog–sounds fun! I store scraps in bins and pull out plastic drawers, depending on how many there are in that category. My string drawer is definitely the fullest! What a fun giveaway…I would love the bright/modern 🙂

I'd love to say that I'm totally organized with my scraps…and store them all the same way…in the same place…by colour, pattern and hue.
But…I can't lie.
It's more like a pile-up in a plastic bin, till it's full.
Then another bin…and so on.

Love the bag, the ironing board cover and the quilts!

My scraps are stored in cabinets by color…larger pieces in stacks and smaller pieces in plastic bins. I think I would enjoy the modern/bright colors.
P.S. I love your bag!!

Really cute tote from scraps! I usually like traditional fabrics so would love to win those.
I currently store my scraps in large ziplocs by project (I just put an empty bag near me while sewing a project and it fills up quickly). Then I have scraps ready to go that I know I love together. I am considering going to just by color (all reds together whether cw, 30s, holiday) but so far my current method works well. I suppose whatever gets a person using them is the best method! Thank you for giving away some of your scraps.

Your scraps looks wonderful. I store my scraps in plastic tubs by size. I cut them into 21/2 strips, squares and five inch squares.

For the time being all my scraps are going in a glass jar on the table, so there is something colorful to look at. I definitely want to try something scrappy when I have a bigger pile of scraps. Love your modern/bright colors. I really love visiting your blog … you are so inspirational with all you accomplish!

I don't have many scraps, I just began to sew not to long ago. Right now, the few I have are in a small basket. I have some Halloween scraps from making trick-or-treat bags for my children. I would love to make some pillow covers with scraps for my next project. Winning yours in any color would be well appreciated!

I love looking at my scraps, so I keep them in clear plastic shoe boxes and large jars. I even keep the scraps I don't like so much, but they're in boxes with lids. If I were to be lucky enough to win, I'd like the Modern/Bright scraps. So exciting!
StrawberryBlond says
I'm still building my scrap stash, but currently I have the smaller pieces in a basket and the larger pieces in a box. When I have enough space (and scrap "inventory"), I think I will store them in baskets by color. A pretty rainbow to look at! I'd LOVE to give your scraps a new home!
Laura says
I would love to win your traditional scraps. I'm fairly new to pieced quilting so I don't have a lot of scraps. Most of my scraps are stored in the closet on the "sweater" shelves. They are all arranged nice & neat in stacks & sometimes I go in the closet just to look at my fabric.
Julie in WA says
Traditional earth tones for me. I don't have a lot of scraps, and what I do have is a jumbled mess at this point!
Kitty says
I need a better organization system. Right now I just shove all of my scraps into a tote bag next to my desk. I don't have that many scraps so it's not really necessary to have an elaborate storage system. If I were to add to my scrap collection, though, I'd like the modern/bright.
Thats Sew Shawna says
I just started quilting and don't have many scraps 🙁 Right now I just put them in one basket until I fill it up and decide what to do next. I have a feeling the best thing to do would be to create blocks out of the scraps as soon as my basket fills up. This way I save space and reuse more often.
As for the choice of colors…holy cow. I would take anything!!
Elisabeth says
Wow, you have great, organized scraps! I have a big Ikea bag of scraps, they aren't organized at all so I guess I'd better head over and figure out how to fix that!
