Ironing–something I love to do if it involves quilting fabric–ironing clothes, not so much! But today I recovered my ironing board in some fabric that might just make me look forward to all ironing–well maybe, maybe not.
Quite a few of you have also recently covered your ironing boards for the first Le Petite challenge–you can see half here on my blog, but be sure to head over to Sinta’s blog to see some other great cover-ups! First up is this cover from Liz.
Kim (no blog) added flying geese blocks to her cover and used Fandango by Kate Spain!
Julia made a wonderful red/red polka dot cover–doesn’t it look great up against her aqua wall?!
Karen sent in this photo from an ironing board cover-up tutorial she did earlier this year…thanks for the link, Karen!
Jo went the extra mile and recovered two ironing boards–first she made a new cover for her table top board.
Jo’s second ironing board cover-up was for her full-size ironing board.
This new cover was made by Brenda (no blog), beautiful fabric!
Anne Ida sent in this “after” photo.
I’ve got some binding to do–and some applique’ to finish as well…think this is going to be a hand-stitching weekend–hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Oh I know exactly what you mean – I really hate ironing except, of course, for any quilt I'm working on but yes even I could grow to love it with fabric like that looking at me!

Thanks a lot!!! I'm now the proud owner of 3 yards of that fabric. I'm NOT putting it on my ironing board though!!!

It is pretty funny that we have become so "involved" with our sewing that we need a pretty ironing cover. I have one too and it does make ironing so much more fun!

Love the Ironing board. I have to admit that I found 3 yards online and I'm still deciding if I want to make new curtains or cover my ironing board. What a dilemma. lol.

Hi Sherri!
Your ironing board cover is so cool…I would probably have had problems putting this cute fabric on my board if I were you 🙂 – so I'm happy I've enough of my polka dotted fabric to make at least 3 additional covers *lol*.
I love to see what the others made…the 'Fandango' cover is gorgeous and a reversible cover is just genious!
I'm already in love with your new quilts (aren't they great once they're quilted?).
Wishing you a wonderful stich-down-bindings-weekend,
Julia
P.S: regarding your question in your last mail: yes, it is still cheaper to buy overseas – even with postage and custom fees! Just yesterday I've seen some R. Kaufman fabrics priced 21 € (that's pricey, even for Germany…but not unusual though)

I recently purchased a new ironing board cover. Not quite as pretty, but I felt spoiled nonetheless! It's amazing how the little things in life make such a difference. I just didn't want to sacrifice my quilting time to make an ironing board cover. It didn't seem fun to me. 🙂
