Hello and happy Tuesday! I’m so excited to share that I finished up my 2017 Mystery Block of the Month quilt top! This is my third finish so far this year (but all of the blocks were finished for two of them before the end of last year).
When I finished all of my blocks I still had several of the fat eighths I hadn’t yet
used, and so I came up with the idea to do a scrappy sashing with them. I love how it turned out…and it allowed me to use more of my fabric!
I made the cornerstones from the outer border fabric to tie it all together…
I love, love, love the borders and how they bring this quilt to life! This is a bundle that had just been sitting in a drawer, and now it’s a quilt top! i love being able to use fabrics that have just been sitting for awhile (and I’ve found some more to use this way while cleaning over the past few weeks)!
What’s even better is that I found a fun backing print in my stash that I had purchased on sale…and the Sunnyside backing is also by Kate Spain whose Aria bundle I used for my quilt front!
I’ve been getting lots of emails, and yes, there will be a block of the month for this year. I will release the patterns each month on or before the 20th! Come back Friday for block one!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

The scrappy sashing is a great idea and your quilt finished beautifully. I have the last three blocks cut…just need to sew them together, then on to sashing, cornerstones, border. Hope to have a finish in a couple of weeks as travel is going to interfere with my sewing time.

Love this! Kate Spain is one of my all time favorite designers. I love the way you’ve pulled together from different collections. I may have to “borrow” this idea from you. ❤️

Thanks so much for this quilt. It has jumped to the top of my 2018 to do (or at least to start) list. Love the Scrappy sashing. Am anxiously awaiting Fri and the new BOM.

I finished my sampler quilt on Sunday. I love it. I quilted only in the background of all the squares to make the blocks pop. The quilting took many hours, but it was worth it. It sure is a pretty quilt. I used a Bonnie & Camille fat eighth bundle and used the aqua wave fabric for the border and navy bias stripe for the binding. I’m so glad I sewed along with you. Thanks; it was fun.
