Yes, it’s been a little while since I did some visiting with my Farmer’s Wife fabrics and blocks. It sure felt good to get back to the farm! I’ve been making note of my “works in progress” this weekend (luckily, I don’t have as many as I’d feared), and I realized that I really do like having a few quilts that take a little time. I really enjoy the process with these “long-term” quilts!
This is block 43, “Garden Path.” I didn’t use the templates, choosing instead to make 28 half-square triangles to go along with the 8 squares. I assembled this into four 9-patch units to make construction a little easier.
And this is block 51, “Hovering Birds.” It was definitely fast and easy compared to “Garden Path!”
I was only going to make two blocks this week then realized that block 52, “Hovering Hawks” was just so similar to block 51. I had to make it!
And here are the Fig Tree fabric versions of the three blocks.
Again block 43–I really love this block–time-consuming but so worth it!
Block 51.
And block 52.
I mapped out a few more blocks the other night, so hopefully I can get back in the habit of working on these weekly. I’ve decided to keep going with my Christmas version until I have enough blocks for a full-size quilt (about 30 more to go for that). I’m still planning on a king-sized quilt with the Fig Tree fabric blocks.
Thanks again for stopping by and for leaving so many wonderful comments! Have a terrific day!

Oh so pretty! Your FW blocks, as well as some I have seen on a couple other blogs have finally sent me over the edge. I bought the book, and will start working on these little beauties this week. Part of me can't wait…
The other part of me is pretty sure I have lost my mind…

I love your blocks! I lost my mojo with mine, so I think I'm putting it aside for now. Look forward to seeing more of yours.

Making this quilt ia a big challenge in itself without making two. They both look wonderful, I must try to get back on track with my block making. It is defintely a long term project for me, perhaps complete by Christmas 2013.

Love both versions! But I prefer Fig Tree version because mine is with these fabrics too 🙂 This year I'll take part in the Schnibbles club, thanks a lot for your organization… kisses from Spain

these are going to be just wonderful! How much fabric did you start with for these? A FQB of each line and then how much solid yardage? I want to make one eventually (I have the book, but won't be for the quilt along). I just want a 'matchy scrappy' one like yours. I've seen some completed ones that are totally scrappy, and they just don't look 'harmonious' to me. I love how yours are turning out though!!!
