How to Make Decorative Fabric Tape

Hello and happy Wednesday!  Today I'm sharing something fun I recently learned on Instagram...how to make cute as a button decorative fabric tape!  I wasn't really prepared for how much fun this little project would be...and before long I had made quite a bit!

I can hardly wait to use some to decorate note pads, my planner pages, and to

seal pattern order envelopes. First of all...I need to let you know I can't take any credit for thinking up this fun project...I found the idea on Camille Roskelley's Instagram...in her stories section. Since the stories disappear and can't be viewed again I thought I'd better hurry up and try making some before I forgot how.

You'll need some fabric scraps cut into 2" widths and some double stick carpet tape... I used (also recommended by Camille) Carpet Tape, Atemto Double Sided Duct Tape Heavy Duty Removable No Residue Carpet Binding Tape 2inch X 30yds Fabric Floor Carpet Adhesive for Carpet Rugs Mats Wooden Floor Stairs Runners Treads.

Also...I ironed my fabric strips before beginning...it seemed to help them stick more securely to the tape. My fabric scraps are from our Creekside fabric collection which will be shipping this September.

You are really not going to believe how easy this is...simply unroll the tape as much as you need to to place your fabric scrap on top (one sticky side will be on top with the other sticky side of the tape covered by paper on the other side). Then press the fabric securely to the tape.

You probably won't be able to stop after using just one fabric scrap, so continue adding fabric strips to the tape...

And then cut the strips in half so they measure 1" wide. After that you can cut lengths of any size. I cut pieces anywhere from 2 1/2" to 5". When you are ready to use your tape, simply peel off the paper backing and press in place!

And of course you'll want to store them in one of these cute fabric baskets...

This is such a fun little project...and it would be something really fun for kids and teenagers to do this summer.  The tape is pretty sticky, definitely not re-usable like Washi tape...but so much fun to make and use!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Wow! This would be super to use up those small lengths of fabric scraps! You could even cut out shapes like hearts, flowers, diamonds, polka dots after adhering to the tape! I'm not sure where I'll find carpet tape, but I'll be looking for it! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you so much! Her story disappeared before I had a chance to view it, so I have been googling and trying to figure out how in the world to make that tape! This is exactly what I needed to know – thanks again!

Sherry, would you be able to post some of the things you use the fabric tape? The note pads sounds intriguing!
I love your blog. Can't wait to get some of your new fabric line!
