Hello! This weekend I worked on sewing up scrappy quilt blocks…and getting scraps ready to use for even more blocks! While looking for fabric scraps big enough to use for my Scrappy Patchwork Quilt I found another scrappy block project I started a little while ago–my scrappy square in a square blocks!
I made these blocks from a Layer Cake several months ago and put them in a
drawer. Now they are out so I can work on them this week! You can find the tutorial I used to make them here (or click the photo below).
You can make these blocks from left over Layer Cake squares or from scraps. In fact, the pieces needed are all under 5″ x 5″…so I’ve been saving bits and pieces to make some more of these blocks and collecting them in a bin.
I did get more of my scrappy quarter square triangles finished up, too!
I have 36 now! I like working in groups of 18…9 dark and 9 light…it just takes a little over an hour including cutting the squares (instructions for these blocks here).
And I received some happy mail today…a Hazel & Plum bundle and the new Fig Tree patterns from Joanna…while her fabric isn’t available until fall…she does have her new patterns ready now. I pieced samples from the new Nutmeg Stars and Hazel & Plums patterns for spring market and can’t wait to try out the mini Homestead and the Scissor Satchels! But these will have to wait until I finish my Scrappy patchwork quilt!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
