I last posted about this quilt back in August when I finished putting the blocks
together with the sashing (see that post here). I think at about that time I realized there were a lot of borders to add and so I moved on to other projects.
I did make all of the half-square triangles for the second border, but they just sat for quite a while.
A few weeks ago I sewed all of the half square triangles together as needed and cut the strips for the other borders. Then about a week ago I sewed the other border strips together and left them all right in the middle of my work table. With them right in my way, it was only a couple of days before I decided to take an evening and get them sewn on!
And now, I really feel like the borders are one of my favorite things about this quilt (although the house blocks are at the top of the list). The inner cream border sets off the center beautifully. And the half-square triangle border is just stunning. Then the final three borders which are all the same size seem to bring out my favorite colorways in the quilt. It's really a nice look.
Now I just need to piece that backing and get it off to the quilter! It feels great to finish up a work in progress...and to be able to check something off the list that has been on it for such a long time!
Here's to finishing lots of works in progress before the end of the year! Thanks so much for stopping by!
