Happy Wednesday! I’ve been working on a few things in the sewing room–I’ve been trying to focus on works in progress so I can get a good list of things to work on this summer. I really do seem to get a lot of my sewing done in the summer because it’s too hot here to go outside much!
First I pieced the back for my “Go Four It” American Patchwork & Quilting quilt along quilt. I had yardage on hand of one of my favorite Aloha Girl prints and thought it would make the perfect summer back!
I picked borders, too! The sides are bordered in the taupe polka dot from Avalon…
And I bordered the top and bottom in this taupe floral from Somerset. I didn’t have enough of either fabric to do all the borders, and it seemed in keeping with this being a scrap quilt.
I also prepped some wool applique’ blocks the other night. At the retreat I attended after market there were a few ladies (one in particular) who had projects prepared and ready to stitch at a moment’s notice. The women were so inspirational…I could hardly wait to get home and do some preparation–it feels good to have these ready to stitch! I actually want to get a few more projects prepped as well…they are all small and won’t take too long to finish!
Monday was a happy mail day here…a few Bright Sun precuts arrived…the first time I’d seen a bundle and a jelly roll in our fabrics. Love them! A few people have asked about availability…Bright Sun will ship to shops in October, and I’ll definitely let you know when its shipping!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

You already know that I love your Fig Tree APQ quilt and can't wait to see it quilted … it'll be stunning amazingly beautiful:-)
Appliqué is so great to take with you … I made a lot of my Green Tea and Sweet Beans block in my break. the blocks aren't too big to take and you just need a needle, thread and a few pins.
I love the colors of Bright Sun … just the right thing for this summer weather:-)

Sherri, your wool blocks are just adorable! I prepped a Primitive Gatherings mini to take with me on vacation last weekend. Here's how many blocks I finished while I was gone: Zero. Oh, well, having too much fun, I guess!

OMG – I just made my Sew Pincushion log cabin block last night too! What a coincidence! I haven't started Heart of the Home yet, but it's on deck. I love the fabrics in your pincushions. Mine look more muted, and I am a brights kind of girl.

can't wait to see Bright Sun in a shop near me! I missed the four patch sew along as I was without a computer for three months. ACK! I think the cherries are too sweet in it.

Sherri: I also live in the hot Southwest and I too am going through my projects, prioritizing and planning to get several completed. To me, this always feels like other people's winter: an indoor season because the great outdoors is just not that hospitable! I'm looking forward to your lovely fabric: the colors are gorgeous!!

I love your idea of using two different fabrics for the borders: I would have never thought of that, but it sure works for a scrappy quilt! Thanks for the idea!! Have a great weekend! Hugs, H
