Happy June! Although it’s not officially summer here, it sure feels like it, and I think I’ve already got that summer state of mind! I’m super excited to announce “Minis and More,” a blog quilt parade of the month I’ll be co-hosting with Michele of Island Life Quilts.
Here is how it’s going to work:
This monthly project parade is a spin-off of the Schnibbles quilt along I’ve been co-hosting for several years. We will still make Schnibbles, but we will also add in other small quilts, mini quilts, and even some larger projects from time to time…thus the name: Minis and More! We will also have a blog button for this quilt along available later in the month…watch for that in a couple of weeks!
We plan to post on the first of each month (or the first Monday if the first falls on a weekend–I’ve learned from the past that weekends are hard) and let you know the patterns for the next two months. After you’ve completed your project, just send a photo in to Michelle or I (if your first name begins with the letters A-L send your photo to me, and if you are L-Z, send your photo to Michele).
You don’t have to have a blog, but if you want us to link to your blog with your photo please send your blog link in each month with your photo.
That’s it! It’s super fun to see all of the different fabric combinations each month, and I think it helps us think about fabric combinations we might want to use in our own future projects (make sure you visit Michele’s blog today to see her version of Summer Star Mini).
The project for the July parade might be a familiar one to some of you: my Summer Star Mini quilt. It’s fast and fun, and we thought it would be a great way to kick off the summer (if you’ve already made one and sent in a photo for my Simply Small group…please send your photo in again…you can definitely use your project for this parade). Send photos of your Summer Star mini to Michele or I by June 30 for the July parade. You can find the Summer Star mini quilt in paper or PDF in my Etsy shop here. (Use the code SummerStar1 for $3.00 off the pattern through Friday).
The project for the August parade is kind of a fun one! My friend Corey has a new pattern, “Sweetness,” featuring 3 mini quilts in one pattern. We thought it would be fun to use her pattern and let you choose your favorite to make first (we are also thinking of using her pattern again later in the year, so you’ll be able to use it again). Send your photo of a project from Corey’s pattern in by July 31st for the August parade. You can find Corey’s pattern in paper or PDF in her Etsy shop here.
I think that’s it for today…if you have any questions at all, please feel free to leave a comment and I’ll get back to you asap!
Happy Monday! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Hi Sherri, I follow both you and Michele and would love to have a go at "Minis and More". I'm relatively new to all of this so the experience would be great. Although I seem to be signing up for a few things just lately so I hope I can keep up!! :0)

If you don't mind my asking … what do you "do" with all your mini quilts? They are beautiful, and I like the idea of being able to try new ideas in a smaller version, but I'm not quite sure what I'd do with them once they are finished. Thanks!

Sherri,
If we are a store and want to participate, could we add the button to our web page?

Yay!! I have both patterns!! Now to just stay focused and make them!! 🙂 Thanks for hosting: I'm not sure how much work it is, but I'm glad you're doing it because I don't even have the technical savvy to know how to post other people's pictures!! Have a great week Sherri! Hugs, H

Could you please tell me what is the name of the 'white' background fabric you used with your Aloha Girl fabrics? Thank you.
