I was actually hoping to post this last week, but because of camera issues…and a pretty busy schedule…here it is today! First up is a little table topper I made with the block design from my Charm Pack Placemats tutorial.
We have a little table in our family room that seats 4, and I like to have a centerpiece to use to set a napkin basket on. So I pulled some of my scraps together and used nine blocks for the topper (you might notice I used a little nine patch in the center along with eight of the rail fence blocks).
I’ve been busy in my sewing room, making 5 projects over the last few weeks that I can’t share yet…but I’m almost finished with the last one, and then I’m going to dive into a few projects found in two books I’ve been looking at lately.
First is Handmade Style: 23 Must-Have Basics to Stitch, Use, and Wear. This book by Anna Graham is a treasure trove of fun and functional projects. The designs are separated into three categories: to wear, to carry, and to use. Not only do I want to make the tunic, the dress, and several of the bags, but there is also a carry-all pincushion that I can’t wait to make…it’s going to be perfect for when I’m doing handwork in my family room…
Another book I’ve had fun reading lately is Sew Organized for the Busy Girl: Tips to Make the Most of Your Time & Space 23 Quick & Clever Sewing Projects You’ll Love. While a lot of the information in this book is geared toward helping a new sewist or quilter learn the basics about studio and project organization…I found some really fun and helpful tips that I know will be fun to try. I love all of the additional tips in the sidebars, and there are projects of all sizes I want to make, too. I think a lot of the projects in this book and in Handmade Style are perfect for gift giving…and that seems to be what I need to be thinking about with the holidays just around the corner!
Finally…I just got word that my Designer Select bundle of Bright Sun is available for pre-order now at Fat Quarter Shop. It was fun to pick out a mix of the prints in this collection…I wanted to include more, of course, but I was limited to twelve! Fabric will be shipping in October…which is just around the corner, and these bundles will be available soon after.
I’ll have some finishes and some new works in progress to share soon! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Love your little table topper and together with the placemats it's a great gift idea (and those are always good:-)
I love the deisgner select bundles but honestly I find 12 such an odd number. Not enough for a bigger quilt but you have a lot of leftovers if you just make a small one. Do you know a really good pattern which only use 12 FQs and perhaps a bit background? I have a designer select bundle and would love to use it but didn't find the right project yet. Any ideas?

Does Anna's book include patterns? Love your choice of fabrics in the bundle.
