For a little while now, I’ve been thinking of doing some video tutorials for the blog. It just seems like some quilting techniques and topics are better presented visually. Using video tutorials will especially allow me to share more complicated techniques and also add pattern tutorials. Although it’s a little scary to get behind the camera (and even more scary to start publishing these tutorials), I finally made the leap…the first video is ready!
You can watch the video here, or go to YouTube to watch. and if you like YouTube video tutorials, I’d love to have you subscribe to my You Tube Channel. There will be lots of fun videos and tutorials coming up soon! I plan on adding one new video each week.
Also, if there are any topics you’d love to have me cover via video, please leave a comment on today’s post.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Congratulations on publishing your own tutorials, Sherri. That's a brave thing to do, even for a person who is used to standing in front of a group of people.
I would be interested in a tutorial about how you sew your projects so quickly. Are there shortcuts you use? It doesn't seem to me that, in the interests of saving time, you sew any less carefully, because your corners and points seem to consistently look great. How do you get so much sewing done (all the while having other commitments in your life)?

How fun and what a great idea!
I also use the painters blue tape 😀
Great tutorial !

Sherri, you did a great job! I look forward to more helpful tips. I needed this reminder. I have some more detailed blocks I am sewing. Noticed yesterday I have different size blocks! Up to a variance of 1/2inch.:-( Is there a way to correct them and still use in the quilt? Like fudging with sashing somehow? 🙂
The AfterCraft says
YES! Painters tape alllll the way. It made my life 200 times better when I was working on a kingsized HST quilt. I cant express it enough.

I actually thought of the same topic as Margaret, in the previous comment. I'd love to know how you plan your time to be able to produce so many wonderful projects. And thanks for taking the time to share them with us.

Congratulations on the launch of your first tutorial Sherri. I think you did a bang up job and look forward to more. It's much easier to see a visual of what you are trying to accomplish, and if you don't get it the first time around, have the advantage of playback. Hope to see you soon, thanks to You Tube.

It''s so cute to hear and see you on video, of course I subscribed to your You Tube Channel! I always wondered how others cut their fabrics if you just need a small bit. Let's say you just need a 2x 4" x 4" square from a FQ do you just cut this piece out or do you cut a 4" strip and add the rest to your scrap bin?

I ,ove anything .jem Kingwell. Lucky you to work with her fabrics ; )

Oooh looking forward to seeing your video tutorials! Great topic to start with. I echo another poster– any way to salvage blocks that come out different sizes?

Excellent tutorial and you managed to sound completely normal, just as if you were chatting to a friend. That must be really hard to do. Well done.

I watched your video on you tube as it allows me to watch it 'full screen' – I also subscribed to your channel, so I'll be watching you weekly 🙂

Fantastic job Sherri! I'm a 1/4" foot user — and just like you, I have to adjust my needle — for me it's 8 clicks — which I don't get — there should be no clicks! Also, I had to laugh — I know you're a real quilter — there were little thread bits all over the edges of your painters tape LOLOL!!!!
