Hello friends! Today I’m sharing my Saturday Seven 450: Lifestyle & More for Quilters post. I really can’t believe I’ve written one of these posts for 450 Saturdays in a row. But I love writing them and thinking about inspiration in our sewing rooms and in our lives!
This week was busier than ever with video filming, podcasting, appointments out of town, and even a photo shoot. (So glad we have a great photographer because we did new headshots the other evening and it was 109 outside at 7:30 p.m.)!

Saturday Seven 450: Lifestyle & More for Quilters
1. Self-Care
I’ve been regularly doing strength training and cardio via Zoom with fellow Moda designer Vanessa Christenson and feel so much better! (Along with being a Moda Fabric designer and quilter, Vanessa Christenson is a certified life coach and NASM-certified personal trainer). We meet (online) Mondays and Fridays at 8:30 a.m. PST with strength training workouts Mondays and cardio workouts on Fridays. We’ve decided to create a class for this beginning in August and have a few more (limited) spots available. If you are thinking about working on your personal fitness and strength and might be interested in joining my class, you can schedule a consult with Vanessa here to find out about cost and more details.
2. Recipes to Try
I’ve been hearing about these burger bowls and how popular they are–finally planning to make them this weekend. I also definitely have to try these Easy Blender Frozen Pina Coladas–after all, it’s been 110+ all week! Also, this Crackly Sugar-Topped Summer Berry Cake looks amazing!

3. Quilt + Sew
I’ve recently finished some things in the sewing room including my Sewcialites 3 quilt and my Jolly Tree Farm Mystery Quilt. I won’t be able to share them for a few weeks, but they are both darling. Also, Fat Quarter Shop just began a new sew along for the Haven quilt (making my blocks this weekend). Find the free pattern here. Finally, my friend Melissa just shared a sweet free strawberry block tutorial (12″ finished).
4. Book & Podcast Recommendations
I loved this podcast with Adam Grant and author Ann Patchett; also, her latest book, Whistler, just arrived yesterday, and I can’t wait to begin reading.
5. In the Sewing Room…New Collection Alert
Sample yardage is here for our next collection. I’ve got it all stacked up, and it makes me so happy every time I look a it. I aways begin by cutting a couple of fat quarter bundles so I can begin my projects. My bundles are ready to go, and I just have to decide which fun project to begin first! We will be sharing this group in the fall, so I’ve got plenty of time to really enjoy this sewing!

6. 18 Years Blogging + My Sewing Space Journey
Last week I missed mentioning an important milestone here on the blog. I’ve now been blogging more than 18 years! I wrote a few thoughts after my 15th anniversary here. And recently I’ve also been reflecting on my sewing space journey–yes, it’s been a journey. Find out about that on my Substack here.
