Hello, friends, and happy Friday! I’m so happy to be sharing the Stitch Pink Quilt Along Part 1 with you today. We had hoped to begin earlier, but wanted to be sure fabrics had arrived so that you’ll be able to get started sewing right away. We’ll be sewing along at a slightly faster pace due to the delay so that we can share all of the video tutorials with you before the end of the month. Please be sure to leave questions on the YouTube channel or here on this post so I can get them answered in a timely manner. Okay…and as I say in the video, let’s get started.
Stitch Pink Quilt Along Part 1
I’m so excited to be able to begin sharing all of the information and video tutorials for making this quilt. I won’t be sharing the tutorial videos here on the blog, but you can find them on our YouTube channel here. For each video, though, I will share a blog post will a summary of the most important things mentioned along with links as needed.
Helpful Tools and Tips
Be sure to watch the video for all of my tips for block pressing and tools that can help make your sewing quicker and more accurate. Below is a list of tools I suggest in today’s video. These tools are helpful not only for today’s blocks but will also help as you continue making the quilt:
- Mini Simple Folded Corners Ruler
- Olfa 1 ¼” x 12 ½” Ruler (Note…it’s called the 1 x 12 but measures at 1 ¼″ x 12″)
- Creative Grids 4 ½” x 8 ½” Ruler
- Remember that you will need the Together Quilt Pattern to make this quilt (QLD210)
Weekly Tips
Each week I’ll share tips that will be helpful as you sew along. Here is a summary of the most important ones for this week:
- Note that if you’re using the Sincerely Yours fabrics some are directional and you’ll need to pay attention to the direction of the fabrics when cutting the pieces.
- Watch the video for pressing tips so that your seams will nest as much as possible.
- Tag your photos with the hashtag #StitchPink2021
Simple Heart Blocks with Light Background
This week we will begin by making the Simple Heart Blocks with the light background. Cutting instructions for these blocks are found on page one of the pattern. You’ll find directions for this block beginning on page three. Note that you will be making three of these blocks with different fabrics as shown in the pattern.
Simple Heart Blocks with Light Centers
We will also be making three of the Simple Heart Blocks with Light Centers this week. You’ll find cutting instructions on page one with block assembly directions beginning on page four of the pattern.
Fabric Key
Above you’ll find the fabrics as listed on the pattern back. We used the SKU numbers on the pattern back to make it easier for shops to kit. (I didn’t include the background fabric, listed first, in the collage above). Fabrics are in the same order they appear on the pattern back, beginning in the first row above and going left to right in that and the following rows.
In closing…
Thanks so much for sewing along…we’ll see you back on Friday this week for another set of blocks to sew and a new Stitch Pink Together Sew Along Video. Remember that you can find all of the previous posts in this series here.
Happy quilting!
