Another one of the quilts from Fresh Family Traditions: 18 Heirloom Quilts for a New Generation
is “Stars over Iowa” which I made using some of my favorite Amy Butler prints. All of my ancestors on my Mom’s side came from Iowa, and I have fond memories of visiting there as a young girl. But this quilt is extra special to me for another reason.
My great-great grandmother, Emma Acelia Wakefield Fitzgarrald also made a stars quilt from some of her fabrics sometime in the 1930’s. It has been so much fun to have this quilt in my home over the last couple of years!
Also today…I need to announce a couple of Schnibbles parade winners from the other day! Carrie will be sending some April Showers Layer Cakes to Lisa from Sinta’s parade and to Terri from my parade.
Also, Sinta will be sending a little something (2 charm packs of Garden Party Tango) to Susan S and I will be sending a little something (mini charms that can be used for next month’s project) to Hildy.
Please send me your mailing info ladies!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Gosh these are beautiful! The instant I laid eyes on your star quilt it became one of my favorite star quilts ever. I also have fond memories of Iowa as a child. Someday I hope to move back there and stay forever. I have been collecting 30's fabrics/feedsacks. I think I will definitely have to make a solid white background star quilt from some of my prints. Thanks for sharing these beauties!

Ooooh Sherri — I LOVE LOVE LOVE that quilt! And I LOVE the way it's been quilted too. So often, the quilting dominates the piecing which always makes me sad — but this is just PERFECT!!!

I wish I could spend more time piecing and quilting–never enough time to make all of the beautiful quilts that I see on your site. Small bites of the elephant…
