Hello and happy Thursday! It’s new block release day on the Splendid Sampler blog, and I have today’s block and a catch-up block to share. I‘m getting pretty close to having the 50 blocks I need for my quilt, so it’s been really fun here at the final stretch–a new quilt top will be coming soon!
First I made Vanessa Christenson’s fun block. I really had fun with this one. By
pressing the sections with white corners inward and the rest of the corners outward I was able to have all of the seams nest–I couldn’t believe how well it went together! This block is called the Unity Star and is block #86. I love that Vanessa mentioned that the center star represents her family.
I also finished up the block for today, block #89 by Ebony Love. I really, really thought this was a fun block. It was simple to make but so very graphic…I think this one would be a lot of fun in a larger size, too!
I loved making both of these blocks, and I’ve actually got a couple more made ahead of time…I’m hoping to get to 50 soon so I can start setting them together (these are number 43 and 44).
Remember, you can find all of the blocks here for now, but they won’t be available online after the book is published! If you are interested in making sure you get a published copy, you can pre-order The Splendid Sampler: 100 Spectacular Blocks from a Community of Quilters now!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Beautiful blocks. Especially love the daisy fabric on navy of Coney Island – perfect for that little star in the centre of the block.
